Anyone getting a PS5 Pro today?
Nope, and I am usually a sucker for new tech. I just can't justify the price of it and it doesn't even come with a stand or disc drive.
I've been seeing reviews on Reddit already and they've been everywhere from "don't see much of a difference" to "the games look much sharper". I'm sure the truth is somewhere in the middle. For the price, I want to see a lot better.

That was about when I upgraded the older AM4 5900X system to a 5800X3D -- mostly for MS Flight Sim.
4070 is a fantastic1080p and somewhat of a midrange 2K card should be just fine.
AMD has some nice CPUs and have for several years, nice to see them back in the game after getting beat by Intel for years. Last time AMD CPUs were relevant was what mid/latter 2000s? I have a 4K monitor running only at 60hz and get this, my CPU is one of the revised Haswell chips aka Devils Canyon the i7-4790K and it has served me well and continues to do so. Not really a big shooter guy, mainly MMORPS and some RTS games.

Well yes but AMD CPU technology actually came back again about 7-8 years ago with AM4 where the efficiency was simply better and now with the X3D CPU's they have surpassed Intel gaming wise hugely with AM5. Intel would still be hanging in there if it were not for the awful power usage that started with 11th Gen. 12 Gen was actually quite good. 13th and 14th Gen ended up being a disaster with the broken CPU's. I had a 4790k too and built about 15'ish of those systems to sell it was a wonderful CPU and many gamers still use them. It's good you are gaming 4k/60 if you were on 1080/155 there would be about a 25-30% bottleneck.

I used to build high end PCs back in the day, but I left that arms race as the costs vs the return just do not seem to be worth it. I mean my current Core i7-12700KF and a RTX 3060 Ti plays any game I throw at it and likely will continue to play any game on the market until I build a new one in probably 5+ years. The only thing is I wish I had waited and got a RTX 4060 due to the exact same performance as the 3060, but far more energy efficient, but that's the only reason.

Personally, I still have a few GPU's, which includes a GTX 1050ti (not shown but is an old system in the closet), a GTX 1660ti (zotac), and an RTX 3060ti (Asus dual that I am using now). Note the size difference between the RTX 3060ti and the GTX 1660ti.

Nice. I still have a GTX-470. My old GTX-1070 got slammed by lightning the night I moved into my house (didn't yet unpack the UPS, and got in a hurry :/ ) I may still have it in the dead PC. Didn't toss it out because the case is an old school full metal jacket Corsair 700D case.

Those (700D) cases aren't what they used to be, but I still buy them for my new builds.

Anybody into Flight Simulator? The new 2024 is absolutely amazing. It blows my mind how they modeled the entire world into a video game that can also run on consoles. There are still some rendering issues, but overall, it's great.

Here are some night shots of flying over Boise and Albertson's Stadium (where the Broncos play). The stadium isn't quite updated (the south endzone is closed in and has a huge screen), for whatever reason, but it still looks so good.

Saw that the PC version released on Steam, it has horrible ratings. Looks like most of the bad ratings are downloading/streaming issues. It appears the games install size isn't bad, it downloads/streams in textures and graphics as you are playing which seems weird to me.

I have 2020 and it was good. I haven't purchased 2024, but I also haven't had my yoke and all my flight sim stuff out / connected in over a year.
