"two of which have earned top dollar at the time in Romo and Prescott."

It's interesting, @Bobhaze that either Romo or Prescott has been the Cowboy's QB for roughly 20 of the past 29 years.

While each has posted pretty remarkable passing stats and, at least in Romo's case, some post season success, neither has met the lofty expectations of the fans, media or the FO.

And, yet they remained and garnered record-setting contracts. It seems to be the one thing Jones clings to now... he has his centerpiece QB, his face of the Cowboys.

But, we like our guys.

Also, its a culture thing. Some fans here keep going to the stadium, buying merchandise and so on. Other fans are ok with 12 wins, and defend bust like Mazi Smith with passion.

Like I said, the whole organization is rotten to the bone and some fans are ok with that.
And if you're not okay with it those same fans will belittle you and bully you, they will tell you to go root for another team, they will do everything they can to isolate and silence you. I promise you they are every bit as much of a problem as Jerry is. They are his enablers

That was the definition of an embarrassing loss. Fourth straight loss at home, where the Cowboys average giving up 42 points per game in 2024. A really bad smell is coming out of AT&T and the list of what stinks the worst when a football team loses this badly usually starts with the head coach, the QB, the coordinators, the players getting paid the most. And those people all stunk it up Sunday vs the lions.

But my fellow Cowboys fans, as frustrating as it was watching the lions absolutely embarrass us in our home palace, the worst smell coming out of the “stayjum” is not the players and coaches. The stink worse than a trash bag of rotten food sitting in the Texas heat for a week is coming from the owner’s box, where the oldest General Manager in NFL history sits surrounded by his entitled children. All with their lifetime contracts and a talent for refusing to hold themselves accountable.

So when you feel the frustration of another embarrassing loss, and a dim future for this team, try to remember that the guy who owns and runs this once proud franchise like his personal fantasy football gig has done all these things:
  • Hired all six head coaches we’ve had in the last 29 years since our last SB appearance and last divisional playoff win.
  • Hired eight different offensive coordinators and eight different defensive coordinators in that time.
  • Seen 9 different starting QBs in that 29 year period, two of which have earned top dollar at the time in Romo and Prescott.
  • Had multiple current and future Hall of Fame players on the team with none of them ever experiencing even one divisional playoff win.
The winning owners of the last 28 SBs all had this in common: They hired someone else to be their GM.

So the next time Dak throws a bad pick, the running game averages 2.6 yards in a game, Lamb quits on a route, the defense gives up over 40 points at home and over 500 yards, and the HC looks lost, just remember who hired ALL those guys. And remember he’s been in charge of everything from “jocks to socks” all these years.

The worst smell coming out of AT&T is in the owner’s box. That is the where all this started.
Absolutely spot on, Bob. As usual you nailed our illustrious leader. He's General Custer and AT&T has become Little Bighorn

If the story is true about Zeke crying to Daddy Jones, this coaching staff might as well all resign. Because they have no control nor clout and they are all hanging over a cliff with their contracts and the players know it.
This has been true about this organization for years under the Jones cartel. How many times have we as fans been frustrated to see overpaid players continue to get snaps that are undeserving? I have always maintained that player's who play on Sunday are based on three factors: the players proportion of salary against the cap; their draft position; and their promotion of the Cowboys brand. This is why we continue to drag out a washed-up Zeke because his hit to the salary cap is higher than any other RB on the roster. John Stephens who flashed potential during last year's preseason before his season-ending injury has been ignored this season despite the fact that we have seen nothing out of Schoonmaker - but he was a 2nd round pick, so he plays. We have to wait until overpaid starters get hurt in order to see other players who generally put forward a better effort. Then there are the players who are more interested in padding their stats and spending time promoting their "brand" on podcasts - which which puts a smile on Jerry's face, because it also promotes the Cowboy's brand. Diggs performance and lack of effort yesterday was pathetic and embarrassing; and any real coach - not named Jerry Jones - would have benched him.

The only way to be sure Jerry has no control over this team is for him to sell it. Unfortunately, we all know that'll never happen, and we have Stephen waiting in the wings. I feel sorry for the younger fans that didn't get to witness the Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson days. Those days are long gone folks.

Because once the season starts all moves have been made. Very few NFL teams add players that make a difference during the regular season. The number can be counted on one had, even if you're missing some fingers.

The time to worry about the FO is in the off season.

You root for the 53 that are available for that week. I had Dallas at 4-2 at this point in the season with losses to Baltimore and Detroit. New Orleans has been the only difference after six games.

Dallas has gotten blown out in their three losses, with all being at home. This has fans jumping off bridges. But Dallas is basically where they should be.

Usually Dallas has an easy schedule in the beginning and it is brutal late. This year it's the opposite. Dallas just needs to stay in striking distance. If they do this the perception of this team will change in the second half of year.

The cowboys are smoked this year. Even if they manage to scratch their way into a wild card. They ain’t going anywhere.

So some of us fans are more worried about the long term status of the football team. Not just week to week games.

We are allowed to think about those things if we want to.

You Dak haters are amongst the most ignorant posters on the internet. I've said before that your hate blinds you. Well, I was wrong. Y'all are just plain ignorant.

Here is what BH said...

"Fourth straight loss at home, where the Cowboys average giving up 42 points per game in 2024. So, to answer your ignorant question, there is your answer. Understand English much? Probably not smart enough to understand it, hence your ignorant responses.
AC, you clearly did not read the rest of the post. If you had just read the next paragraph…

But my fellow Cowboys fans, as frustrating as it was watching the lions absolutely embarrass us in our home palace, the worst smell coming out of the “stayjum” is not the players and coaches. Great post Bob. Unfortunately the stink and smell aren’t going to be exterminated in the sky box anytime soon.

I’ve given up the fight. I’m exhausted after fighting him for most of the last 30 years.

This is what we have become . All I can do is laugh at it. Take shots like a standup comedian. I was rooting for Lions to go for 2 after scoring their humiliating TD’s in 2nd half.

We have become such a joke .

I get the analogy but not sure it’s fitting. Cause no one is taking General Jethro down.

Makes sense, but the problem is that Jerry has stated that nobody can do his job better than him and unfortunately, he believes that statement.
And even if he doesn’t believe it , doesn’t matter.

Winning isn’t the utmost priority. The Dallas Cowboys are all about him.

We’ve known this for 30 years.

It’s why I’ve stopped caring as much about single games and week to week.

The cowboys are a rudderless ship. Even if they manage to win some games here and there. The boat ain’t reaching the destination we want it to.

Right. I feel for this younger generation as well. But maybe they aren’t as heartbroken as we are.

Yep.

Old Couch Coach , RIP, years ago had already thrown in the white flag and surrendered. He said he was just rooting for 16 and now 17 meaningful games .

Which is where I’m at now . Since I’m going to watch all the games I at least don’t want the season over before Turkey Day.

Unfortunately he’s right. That’s what we have become .
