The Worst Thing About Being A Cowboys Fan

As an "other fan" I can guarantee you the hate against the Cowboys has zero to do with being called "America's Team", and has even less to do with jealousy lol...

You know the "hate" and irritation some of you have shown towards RG3 due to all the hype you feel he gets and that it's undeserved, how you get tired of hearing about him every other segment on NFL Network/ESPN/etc? How he's really not all that good and time will show that he's overrated? How it feels like he's being shoved down everyone's throats as the NFL and sports media tries to sell him to everyone?

It can't hold a candle to what NFL fans have had to endure concerning the Cowboys over the last few decades.

So, unless you guys are admitting that you're simply jealous of Griffin and that your irritation with him is based primarily on his nickname, I'd say you're more than a bit off here lol...

My least favorite thing about being a Cowboy fan is our identity. I'm talking about our high profile, millionaire Texan identity. And of course the new state of the art stadium that makes you feel like you're at an airport opposed to a football game.

I sooooo envy the Steelers,Packers,Vikings,Bears etc. for having the lunch pail,blue collar, weather game sort of history and culture they have. We're just too friggin clean

Hes a diehard Seahawks fan, and he hates all the pub the Cowboys get, irregardless of the fact Dallas hasn't been relevant in a long time. Having been in California as well, I get all the hate that the Cowboys get.

Cowboys seem to have a huge number of 'casual' fans who endlessly bash the team, Romo, Garrett, Jerry with no real reason other than they also heard it on ESPN.

Just look at the comments on any of the official Dallas Cowboys Facebook posts and you'll see them.

Jerry Jones. And then the Jones family. Unfortunately for us the Cowboys Name sells itself and these folks make a ton of money because of it. They are great marketers. No doubt. But they are not football people. Just watch the draft cam. Junior stuffing his face for most of it. Definitely the under-achiever of the group. Now we have Charlotte involved in the draft room....What??? And listening to Stephen on the radio every week is a joke. There is no doubt they can make money, but because of The Cowboys name! Stephen was off to get his degree(s) in Engineering because of the family Oil op's. STOP! We just bought the Cowboys so now he becomes a NFL "GUY". Yep he played ball, but he is fakin' it in NFL Operations. And the media knows this. Thats why the 'Boys get no slack. The Jones' are a joke when it comes to the NFL. Vegas is smart....8.5 wins over/under.

Hey the NFL is hard. But when you have these guys as the leaders of this org you get what we have had for the last 17years. In 4 years we will be talking about 8-8. Just my prediction.

We as fans get to deal with this for a long time to come too.

The main thing that bothers me about being mediocre is my youngest son. He LOVES the Cowboys and kids at school tease him. He's only in the 3rd grade and kids that age go with who's winning and Michael Vick for some reason. He wanted a Dez Bryant Jersey so I bought him one. I noticed he wasn't wearing it to school and found out why. The kids tease him when he wears it? I told him that when we start winning again those same kids will convert to Cowboys fans....God I hope we start winning again.......

I am 46 years old and I get teased for being a Cowboys fan. I don't like to be in a position where I have to defend the mess that has went on since the mid 90s. It is hard to defend a team that has been average at best.

The absolute worst thing about being a Cowboys fans is we get compared to the Yankees, Celtics or Lakers, and Montreal Canadiens. And we get all the front runners on our band wagon.

We are not like the Yankees in any way shape or form IMO. The Skankees have a fan base of idiots like no other, well except maybe the Red Sox. Cowboys fans are some of the classiest most decent people among fans of all sports teams. That can never be said about Yankee fans! The Yankees always seem to get the calls in their favor. MLB favors the Yankees. The NFL has never favored the Cowboys in the same regard.

We arent like the Celtics or Lakers.

We arent like the Montreal Canadiens.

And I hate being associated with the front runner fans that follow those other teams.

You couldn't more wrong about Yankees fans. They are very loyal, very knowledgeable and have been fans through the good and bad(the 80s-early 90s). They are very similar to Cowboy fans.

The thing I hate about Cowboys fans is that when they see you wearing team gear they think you share the same moronic ideas that they do. I hear more stupid remarks about Romo from Cowboy fans than non-fans. I like Romo a lot and remember the post Aikman QBs. Some idiotic Cowboy fan that comes into my store actually told me that he just heard some disturbing news and believed it. He heard that Romo got JJones' daughter pregnant and that was the only reason he got the new contract.

I tell them to go rewatch a game and see how often the dude has had to run for his life each week. Im gonna say sumthing that I'd never thought I'd say but it its true ANOTHER reason why the Cowboys are a main attraction is our uniforms (MAINLY star on the helmet)...look at the the teams you mentioned.

Yankee = Pinstripes very different and done before anyone else.

Lakers = Yellow Home Uniforms when most teams are white.

All of these teams stand out and so do ours but what say you "we sorta have the Detroit lions colors" well our Uniforms, the STAR on our helmet and the way Texas Stadium was built it made us a STAND OUT team. that combined WITH the winning is what adds to the Cowboy mystique.
