There is only ONE condition where trading J.Jones makes sense.

Why not pick up a Lynch or Bush and keep Jones and use him as a change of pace back? Its what he is perfect for.

Lynch is not a sure thing...in fact with the rumored skeletons in his closet, he might be one of those guys who falls alot on draft day

A couple of draft reports have talked about problems he might have. But no specifics. Has anyone heard any more about Lynch?

I know that his brother Merill is highly respected in the business community:)

Its always instructive to see who has the most posts in any thread like this. Then you can track the agenda's.

And i always find it interesting the people that shout 'agenda' as if it means something.

When Nors was going out of his way to make backhanded and posts that alluded to what he was getting at in an attempt to stir the pot, you could easily say that he had an agenda. The problem wasnt that he had an opinion nor that he wass willing to state it. The problem was that he was attempting to be deceptive to serve his agenda.

I have a ton of posts in this thread and in others that concern our runningback situation. I truly believe that if we can get a very good back to plug into this offense that we could have one of the best offenses in history. In your book that means i have an agenda. In my world that means i have an opinion and am more than happy to banter it about.

Just saying agenda as if it discredits someone is myopic. EVERYONE HAS AN OPINION AND THUS EVERYONE HAS AN AGENDA. Its all about how you go about yourself that makes the difference.

The only sure thing is that julius is a nondurable, injury prone back that fades late in seasons.

ill take my chances with Lynch despite the innuendo.

Nondurable:
He made it the whole season last year. High ankle sprain and collerbone is not justification for calling someone nondurable.

Fades late:
He faded late last year because of the defense and playing from behind. Previous seasons have been injury related.

Like Clove said I will give him this year under a new philosophy unless he is traded.

Barber is not the answer that much I am confident of.

I still have no idea how people know this. Did you call a phone psychic? Use remote viewing powers? Invent a time machine?

you could say that for the Jones bashers who say this is the best Julius will ever get, too

Well people who believe that have 3 years of average play to back their opinion up. While Barber played exceptionally well last year, its pretty bold to say he isnt the answer when you havent even seen it yet, and he was clearly the best RB on the roster.

I agree. He can't do it, how would anyone know this for sure? Give him a chance to show what he can do. Since he has been with us he has only had 1chance to carry the load in game and did a good job with 27 carries for 127 in his rookie year. I hope he is given the chance to compete for the job because he has earned that by performing when he has been given the chance.

Julius hasn't played in 3 years worth of games, so no

not saying that, just saying Barber won't be a good starter, is the same as saying Julius Jones won't improve

you're both guessing

I don't consider myself a Jones basher but I am to the point of saying Barber and Jones should compete for the starting job. Why just hand it to Jones? If JJ is better then let him win the job and same for Barber but to say Barber can't do something based on nothing is just silly.

Are you serious? He has been in the league for 3 years. I dont care about how many games he played in each year due to him being injury prone, 3 years is more than enough time to form an opinion on a player.

No one knows what Barber could do as a starter because he hasnt been given a chance.

People saying Jones hasnt improved at least have seen enough games to realize that he regressed over his time in Dallas.

1.) never said Barber shouldn't compete for the job

2.) never said Barber won't do anything

1 full-year, is not enough time

regressed? he stayed healthy and had a career year

btw, Notre Dame rules

I'm not pointing to you directly but to those who say Barber can't do it but there is nothing to back that up either way, the only way we would know is if he is given the opportunity. I don't think Barber is too small at 6'00" 220 and I don't think he is too slow at 4.48 40. I guess it just irks me when people are willing to say someone can't do something without any real evidence to support it.

When its contract time, you cant just judge him on the good years. Yes last year was a career year, and no I am not impressed.

When people still hang on to the legend of two games in your rookie year that was 3 years ago, you certainly havent shown signs of improving.

that's right, you judge him on the basis of his career up to that point, and last I checked, Julius still has another year to show his worth

that makes no sense whatsoever, but I'm not of that group, so I wouldn't know what you're talking about
