If Dak struggles=DC's figured him out
If Dak stays the same= Dak is at his celing
If Dak improves=the talent around him is the reason

Dak's struggled with teams who were able to put consistent pressure on him the entire game. As did every other quarterback in the history of quterbacks. Prescott should improve with a better grasp of the offense better timing with his receivers. And being able to see what defenses are trying to do to him. Funny how film works both ways.

Daks burden is that he was so good as a rookie. Now the theory goes that the greatest improvement is usually from year one to year two. That is the load he is carrying. The chances that he can substantially improve on his production are small because he was so good. Which means if he only has slightly weaker stats (and on INTs alone the odds that he can keep them THAT low are astronomical) he going to get a lot of heat.
Just the way it is.

Those expecting a sophomore slump AND those expecting substantial improvement are both projecting something there is no evidence to support.

He will be fine, would love to get Wittens replacement for him in the draft, they like two tight end plays and the new guy would have Witten mold him.

Therefore teams can study him more and find his weaknesses. On the other hand, he's got a great work ethic and will have gotten better. Here's hoping for now sophomore slump.
I think most D-Coordinators would figure him out during last season, especially the ones that played him twice.

The hard part to figure out is how not to just punched in the face by the Cowboys running game and top ranked OLine. There are limits to what defenses can change without making themselves vulnerable to getting gashed by the Cowboys running game even more than teams got gashed last season.

anyone else go to Mudbug Bash in Arlington on Saturday?

Dak made an appearance and even specifically mentioned the fact that teams have more tape on him.. then he went on to list the things he and the coaching staff are doing to answer.

I can't remember all of the things he stated verbatim, but I do remember the working with Coach Tom Shaw comment (QB guru that works with notable NFL QBs in the offseason)

I'm confident Dak is doing everything he possibly can to be successful, I'm not worried at all in the drive and work ethic. But that can only get you so far and then you need the talent. 2017 is a huge season for Dak

lol at Brady/Belichick vs Dak/Garrett comparison

I dont think thats unreasonable just out of hand.
Dak's numbers compare favorably with Brady's rookie season. Dak is only going to grew.
Now Garrett and Chickbelly I can understand but that doesn't mean that Garrett isn't going to continue to grow.

Dak will continue to improve so the film will not matter. Dallas can call the play at the line and the defense won't be able to stop it.

2013 Nick Foles disagrees

Hard to believe Foles had the 2nd best season in NFL history as measured by QB rating.

He was tremendous that season.

Hard to believe what a freaking outlier that season, his first season as starter, ended up being. Other than that, he has been a bum.

That whole "they have tape on him now "BS is pure BS. You mean to tell me that teams didn't have an idea about stopping him in the latter part of the season? I guess it only works with Wentz and damn near every other rookie quarterback in history? Give the guy a break. He's a stud

They will study what the Giants did and the other teams did that appeared to limit him and will try and repeat it. FOR ANYONE to claim that does not matter is to show their true football ignorance.

If a QB is worth a damn, it doesn't matter how much tape is on them, otherwise the amount of tape on players like Brady, Rodgers or Brees would have ended their careers long ago. With that said, of course both sides have to study the tape and learn from it.

Called a blitz, when the OL doesn't pick it up. Every qb in the league has to prepare for that.

I really think Dak is going to be fine....unless Zeke gets hurt. Then I could see the perception of Dak dropping off considerably.

That is why I would really love to see us get a guy like Mixon or another stud back. If Zeke gets hurt I fear we are pretty much ****ed.

Dak is good but Zeke and the OL are the keys to Dak continuing with his success rate, at least in the short run. I think Dak needs to run it once or twice more per game than he is to keep teams honest. It is also very demoralizing to a defense when they cover everyone and the QB gashes them for a first down.

That's a given. I'm not sure why or how anyone could assume otherwise. Spot on.
