No argument there and Chaisson might turn out to be a bust but that's not my point. Team building is about coming back time and time again until you do get it right.

Matt Millen was a doofus on WR's but he did get it right but it took him 3 times.

Belichick has been that way about DB's because his plan calls for him to build it back to front and while a pass rush will help a secondary that's not as relevant in today's game.

So your pick would have been some yet to be mentioned Future Hall of Fame defensive player.
Hard to argue against that
Well done

Terrible opinion. And apparently a fluid one. First we never should have taken a WR at all, then we should have taken a different WR.

If anything, this year shows the team needs every top talent it can get, almost regardless of position.
Not fluid, I said both at the time they took him. They should have never taken a WR with that pick and if they were going to take one, Jefferson was the better choice because he was a better deep threat and played in the SEC, a much stronger pass D than the Big 12.

If Chaisson wasn't appetizing, trade out for more picks in that draft or possibly a 1st in the following year's draft. Lots of Wimpy type GM's on draft day. I will gladly give you more next year if I can have more this year. MIA is going to score really well with HOU's pick this year.

They chose to put the D behind that and ended up 6-10.

They were already the #2 pass offense in the league in 2019.

With Chaisson we still would ended up 6-10. He would not have played as much, or would have rode the pine as long as Nolan was here. They would not even play Anae when things looked bad. I like Chassion and thought he would have been the pick. Until Lamb dropped to us. Then it was a no brainer, and Jerry did the right thing.

So where have you been all year posting this, I do not recall you mentioning this throughout the season, until now?

Picking a WR was a mistake, didn't matter if it was Jeudy, Ruggs or Jefferson or Lamb. It's not about Lamb, he's a good player. Great player? We shall see about that but he better learn to run better routes and not count on getting the 2nd or 3rd CB covering him. All the Lamb lovers, that are not Sooner fans, haven't seen him as the #1WR drawing the best CB without Cooper and Gallup on the field. He was also the beneficiary of an offense extremely generous to the WR position, just as it was Hollywood Brown the year before Lamb. Riley isn't all about the QB like many think, he's a run first guy and that frees up his WR's.

And there might not have been a great D player there either but a good D player on this team trumps a great WR. Would that have made a difference this season? Doubt it but whenb do they start to fix what's broken?
Lamb finished his rookie season with 935 for 5,, thats not bad rook year considering he had to deal with 4 different QBs.

Yes, it was a mistake because it was all for flash and splash while bobbing around on the ocean, it was a pick for applause. It was all luxury for a team deep in needs.

The case some make is the value of Lamb at 17. Was he not a value at 16, 15, 14, 13? Why did those GM's pass on him? Because they're GM's with their jobs on the line to improve the team, not take a bow for a draft pick.

Another case is what D player was worth that pick? Chaisson? The answer is any D player that could help the worst D in the league and worst in Cowboys history. He didn't have to be a world beater, just a player they could count on to be 1 of the 11.

1 of 11. How many do they have now? If they'd used that on a D player, might they be closer than they are now? And what if he doesn't work out? Then they'd know and keep going back to the well.

I saw all of the celebrating here when they took Lamb and few asking why was he available? Partly because most GM's were trying to fill needs and partly because they didn't have him at 6th on their board.

He was the Cowboys first pick and led them in drops and was 2nd in the league in drops but his fans here will make excuses for him. And WR is the most plentiful position in the league.

This draft should be the easiest for the Cowboys, if they go D as they should have last year. Their needs are plenty and the only position they don't need with that first pick is DE.

The Lamb pick was a mistake and I had 0 doubt about that then or now. However, my greatest doubt about this team remains the same, they're just not good at talent evaluation and compound that by doubling down on some of their selections because they look at it from an ego standpoint. If it is mine, it must be good.

Lamb? No thank you, give me the beef!
It’s like a couple of mock drafts have said, if that TE is there he would be practically impossible to pass up! It will be the arena league Cowboys!

We already had 1 of the best tandems at WR in the NFL. Justin Jefferson was taken later and may be the better player. I would say Travon Diggs looks like the real deal but the defense and the OL still need a lot of help. So I hope at 10 we go OL or DL, perhaps S.
Well thats just how the draft plays out,, Justin Jefferson is a stud,, and the Vikes got extremely good value.

OLis definitely a need. Tyron cant be counted on and we don't know how lael will return. That said its not a high need.. prepare yourself sir! with the #10 pick in the draft the Dallas Cowboys select TE Kyle Pitts.

you watch it wont surprise me one bit and probably someone like Farley and Parsons will be sitting there

Pitts would be a great pick, but not sure at #10. More like mid to late teens. Maybe a trade down?
However I have not looked at the draft and players yet, so I could change my mind easily on this.

As to how he would be to a defensive player, I have no idea at this point.

You add Pitts to this offense and you'll have the #1 offense in the league even better than Kansas city.

Pitts and CeeDee play the same role in Dallas. A slot WR. Pitts is far bigger and CeeDee is far quicker.
But they would have the same job.

Dallas has 3 TE right now that all block SIGNIFICANTLY better than Pitts.
Pitts isn't a Kettle level blocker. He's not even a Kelce level blocker.
He's an Aaron Hernandez split out TE.
He'd be a very cool weapon to have.

But you gotta take a WR off the field for him outside of 4 WR sets where he acts as WR4.
I can not understate how poor Pitts blocking is. He is 6'6' and only 220 so can not get leverage and uses poor technique. He lacks strength as a blocker.

As good as he is as a pass catcher and he is truly elite eh is just as bad in blocking.

Dallas has Jarwin under contract for 3 more years.
He may well be a top 5 pass catching TE next year.
They also bring back a good well rounded and well developed Dalton Schultz.

KC's offense has actually suffered (comparatively to themselves) of late because the running game is struggling.
They need better run blocking as Andy has always needed to really make that offense hum.

LOL at thinking CD wouldn't have been comparable if Dak didn't get hurt.

They drafted the best player at his position to be in a starting role. You want to go get K'Lavon Chaisson, go right ahead.

Ooh. Excuses.
Jefferson is clearly the better WR right now.
Sorry. He just is. Jefferson was the best player at that pick and his incredible rookie season proves that.
But, but, but Dak!!! LOL.
Yeah, I guess CD would have some more garbage time yards from “Stats” if he hadn’t broken his ankle.
Too bad CD dropped that pass WIDE OPEN with just a minute to go in the game yesterday.....
But he’s the best WR though....
LOL

Point taken, CC! Hope Jerry and Stevie do the right thing—heavy on DBs, LBers, and DT. Dump Nolan, get healthy...

Imagine thinking you determine all your draft picks based on current roster need.
While I refuse to give you another like, only due to supporting you in a different way, I agree with you on this 100 percent.

Legit top 10 talent drops to you at 17 you take it. Winning is about having better players. Not passing on better players.
If he was legit top 10, why was he available at 17? Why did 10-16 pass on him?

Teams pass on better players in every draft to get what they need to address their needs.

The Cowboys already have the #1 O and #2 Pass O and they need another WR? I would have been OK with them taking Diggs at 17, that was a need.

..I cant say Lamb was a mistake pick. He augments the offense well and completes what the they will need to click for the next 3-4 yrs. Given a few lineman as well. Throwing in the drop stat is surprise to me. Didn't know he dropped that much balls. ;)..

..but I will agree, they need to pick better players in general. Then again, that's 50/50.

If you think Jefferson was a better draft pick than Lamb, without the hindsight of this season, then you're either a liar or dumb.

I was fine with the Lamb pick. However, doing so in that draft pretty much assures that they cannot do it again in the 2021 Draft if one of the top WRs or Kyle Pitts is there (and they very well could be at #10)
