Jason Garrett was the offensive coordinator, period. If you want it to be accurate, post his 2007 also. If it doesn't measure up, it doesn't. I have no problem with that. But you cant just arbitrarily decide that he wasn't the OC when, in fact, he was.

I'm with bysboxw (?), which is why I said "solo OC" in those stats.

Sparano had huge input, probably disproportionate input, into game planning, schemes, down and distance that week, etc.. I probably read every story on this topic ever written back then to see who did what in 2007 ... this is what I read, not what I dreamt up ...

Sparano was a very hard worker all I could gather, and the offense all things considered, was probably more Sparano's than Garrett's in 2007. At least a partial carryover from Parcells philosophies was what we saw in 2007.

Did Garrett have the plays in his hand and call them on game day? I think so ... but the plays in his hand that week were in a good part influenced, picked out that week, designed by Sparano.

But you can't deny that Jason Garrett had help in 2007 . . . a lot of help. Garrett was really Offensive Coordinator in name only. We took him from Miami in 2007 while he was QB coach there. He was under contract, and the only way he could come here was if he got a promotion. So they made him OC and made Sparano Assistant Head Coach. Garrett called the plays, but that was Sparano's offense (and a lot of Parcell's leftover philosophies). It was talked about ad nauseum here.

But just for kicks, let's add Garrett's 2007 stats:

1995 21st points, 25th yards
1996 9th points, 4th yards
1997 19th points, 5th yards

Holmgren as OC in SF:
1989 1st points, 1st yards
1990 8th points, 2nd yards
1991 3rd points, 3rd yards

Garrett as solo OC in Dallas:
2007 2nd points, 2nd yards
2008 18th points, 13th yards
2009 11th points, 4th yards so far

Holmgrens stats still blows Garrett's out of the water. And considering the talent Gruden had to work with in Philly during those 3 years his stats are very respectable . . . I mean Philly was suiting up Randall Cunningham, Rodney Peete, Ty Detmer, Boby Hoying, and an aged Mark Rypien for QB while Gruden was OC.
