Let me put it another way: would the likes of Saunders and Williams work in Dallas for less pay and Bill's bullsh*t? No. The Skins attract filet mignon, but thanks to Bill, Dallas gets hamburger helper.
They'e hired "filet mignon" for several years--I don't see it paying out yet. Yup, they reached the playoffs this year, but they're still not in the Super Bowl. Peyton Manning & Tony Dungy are "filet mignon"--they're not in the Super Bowl either. I'm not convinced the skins have "filet mignon" any more than the Boys have "hamburger helper." Parcells may actually be reasonably happy with the coaches he has now. Interesting that he hasn't fired any of them, as he did the last 2 years. It's possible that he now has a nucleus of "his guys" whom he thinks can make it work. Remember, when he came here he had to start from scratch with coaches. I'll respectfully point out that even the all-of-a-sudden-lionized-Gibbs brought in all of his former guys. Parcells didn't have that luxury this time around, as most of them had gone with Belichick (or elsewhere, like Hennings & Groh). So he's had to build a new group & get a comfort level with them--& all of those coaches have had to build a comfort level with a lot of new & young players, which hopefully everyone now has. And if you look at the skins, their players themselves have said that simply having some consistency from last year to this year helped them a lot. Well, our rookies & 1st-year players have now had a year to work with Parcells & the majority of the ACs (depending on how many new ACs come in, if any).

You're entitled to your opinion. So am I. So is Parcells. The proof will be next year & future years, as to who has the "hamburger helper" & who has "filet mignon." I'm guessing that neither description is accurate, & that reality falls somewhere in between for both teams. It's all going to come down to how the teams fare. If the Cowboys make the playoffs & go far, Parcells is a genius. If they don't--well, then you get a perfect chance to crow. Until then, sorry, but I don't see any AC out there that is an automatic Super Bowl guarantee for any team--nor that the absence of said ACs be a death-blow for a team.

You know--I'm guessing, deep down inside, he probably feels the same way, given how lousy that team is!

Um, Williams has worked wonders with the D and Saunders has been on the job for like 10 minutes. Don't be a dick.

Yup, they reached the playoffs this year, but they're still not in the Super Bowl.

That's one more playoff win than Bill and friends.

Peyton Manning & Tony Dungy are "filet mignon"--they're not in the Super Bowl either.

True, yet 99% of the fans here would take both over Bill and Drew.

I'm not convinced the skins have "filet mignon" any more than the Boys have "hamburger helper."

Apparently, you're the only one who thinks "williams+saunders > zimmer+payton" is a controversial statement. The vast majority of league GM's would side with me.

Parcells may actually be reasonably happy with the coaches he has now.

Because he's an imperious a-hole who doesn't value or need their input. How many coaches did Gibbs shove last year?

Interesting that he hasn't fired any of them, as he did the last 2 years. It's possible that he now has a nucleus of "his guys" whom he thinks can make it work. Remember, when he came here he had to start from scratch with coaches.

Yeah, his o-line coach worked wonders. And his Stone Age "play just well enough to lose" was a great strategy too.

I'll respectfully point out that even the all-of-a-sudden-lionized-Gibbs brought in all of his former guys.

Most of whom have coached their a***es off.

Parcells didn't have that luxury this time around, as most of them had gone with Belichick (or elsewhere, like Hennings & Groh). The excuses are really piling up. All Dallas has to do is pay well and treat these guys like human beings if they want to attract better candidates, not castrated turds like Payton--who was fired in NY.

Interesting...

According to the Chicago Tribune, Dallas Assistant Coaches are the highest paid in the league.

Don Pierson

Coaches' salaries no predictor of wins
4 teams that employ highest-paid staffs have losing records

Published April 17, 2005

The Bears had the least experienced coaching staff in the NFL in Lovie Smith's first season, and they will be the least experienced again. They also were the lowest paid, according to an NFL Coaches Association survey.

Although the New England Patriots had the fifth-highest-paid staff, it was hard to draw a parallel between winning and coaching salaries last season. The Super Bowl runner-up Philadelphia Eagles ranked 21st in coaching salaries.

Dallas Cowboys coaches were the league's highest paid, averaging $301,710, with 15 coaches reporting to the survey. The Bears averaged $186,407, with 17 coaches reporting. The Cowboys were 6-10; the Bears, 5-11.

Seven of the 12 playoff teams ranked in the top half of coaching salaries. The four highest-paid staffs—Dallas, Tampa Bay, Washington and Kansas City—had losing records. The next four—New England, Atlanta, Pittsburgh and San Diego—were in the playoffs. Two of the four lowest-paid staffs—Indianapolis and Minnesota—made the playoffs.

In the NFC North Division, the Packers ranked 27th at $210,279 and the Vikings 31st at $190,187, but both made the playoffs. The Lions ranked ninth at $241,250 and finished 6-10.

The Eagles ($222,648) have dominated the NFC East for four years yet have the lowest-paid staff in the division.

If you were a hot assistant, why would you want to come to Dallas? Parcells is a mini-tyrant who forbids his coordinators from speaking to the press. That's a work environment conducive to success?? Conversely, in DC, you're well paid and you can speak freely. I live in DC, and I can assure you that guys like Bugel and Williams had as much or more airtime than Gibbs. Saunders will be no different. Yeah, Gibbs is a dinosaur like Tuna, but not an ego-driven emperor.

WHY NOT COME HERE? High profile job, offensive weapons in place. Its a chance to work and learn from Parcells.

Sean Payton parlayed that same opportunity into an NFL head coaching job.......

Ummm, what offensive weapons?

Yeah, I know we have Jason Witten, but what else sticks out that could be used as a ploy to snag a Coach.

And please dont say Keyshawn Johnson.....

Do you want to know why the Skins attract and retain top-notch assistants, it's simple...

1. Joe Gibbs is a great coach and disciplinarian without being a tyrant or an !
2. Dan Snyder appreciates his assistants and compensates them appropriately.
3. Washington is an up-and-coming team with a ton of young talent on O and D.

If I were an assistant coach, the only (and I mean only) reservation I would have about coming to Dallas is not knowing for exact sure how long Bill was going to stay and what the coaching staff would look like if he left. For instance, I would hate to pick up, move to Dallas, work with Parcells for a year just to have Bill retire, and Jerry hire a new guy who wanted his own staff.

Dude your team will not be able to keep their up and coming team. They might be able to restructure contracts, but sooner or later you have to pay the piper. You guys are like 28 mill over the cap. Thats alot of massagging that has to take place.

Just for good measure:

Keyshawn Johnson
Julius Jones

Bye

Yeah, Terry Glenn is a real stud receiver that will be a force in two years. Julius Jones worries no one. And did you really say Keyshawn?!? You must be joking.

Witten is great though, I think he's top 3 or 4 at his position.

My point was that the Cowboys have a group of skill players that ranks in the bottom third of the league. There's a lot of improvement needed there to lure any OC. Oh yeah, who's Dallas got at QB for the future? Don't say Romo, that would be worse than bringin up Keyshawn!

Dude you are an A Hole. Why didn't you answer my salary cap question from the earlier post if you wanted someone to argue with. Yout team is 28 mill over the cap. How are you going to keep your team together? I'll tell you what. I'll put up fifty bucks that the Cowboys sweep the skins next year and you can put fifty bucks on the skins sweeping us next year. If we split, then we keep our money. Oh by the way, Keyshawn is a better #2 then Jacobs.

All that is BS the ONLY reason Willaims stayed is because they gave him head coach money to stay, and the ONLY reason Saunders is there is because they payed him more than he would have made as a HC.

Funny the Skins have to ppay their 2 coordinators the biggest asst contracts in NFL history to stay/ and come on board

Yet our offense was just as good, and sometimes better than the Skins so where does that rank you guys?

** for future QBs who is yours? and do not mention Cambell because if you do I will mention Ramsey your last 1st round QB bust.

Neo, you being someone who reads this board on a regular basis, I am curious where you get this 28M number from ?

Last I read it was about 10M less...

And BigDFan5, I am certain you dont want to talk about the potential future QB situation between both teams. You gotta make sure when you throw something out there as smack there is actually someplace it will stick. Well...maybe you have. Hmm...
