This is why I'm hesitant to extend Garrett

There really is no upside to Jason coaching. You could put a headset on a scarecrow and get the same results minus the clapping.

The change to Lineham covered the cracks for a few weeks but it is back to the same old stuff. Poor (if any) adjustments and odd situational play calling, especially on offense. He gets out coached a fair bit and I've never seen a game where he did the same to another team.

That's not good. I'd almost rather it be bad coaching than bad play.

I think the players were a bit disheartened at how poorly Weeden played, and got frustrated on offense. The Cards crowded the line, and were able to dictate the flow and pace of the game.

I don't think so. I think sucky coaches pretty much suck. They don't get their teams to where Garrett's gotten his teams. Even the three years prior to this current season. Especially not fielding the sorts of rosters we've fielded during that time. Now, if you'd said you thought our defense had been sucky, I'd agree. Up until this year, where it's been mediocre. And not many teams do have bits of success with sucky defenses.

Where exactly has Garrett gotten these teams?

We have a beast run game and a super smart QB that covers up a lot of bad play designs and coaching.

As long as Garrett has teams that can impose their will on teams and win doing it then we will be fine. But if we ever have to win a game with good play designs or anything outside of a basic gameplan we are pretty much screwed.

If I was Jerry I would tell Garrett to not call anything at all and let his assistance do it for him. The less we have of Garrett with the playcalling or even calling which plays to use the better off we are as a team.

I miss those days where all Garrett had to do was slap people's butts and tell the team to go for 1. Its the formula for winning.

Exactly. We're tricking teams a bit more this year because Garrett has his hands off of the playcalling but for the most part we're just beating the man in front of us every play.

Dallas could still have an amazing season but it will have nothing to do with Jason Garrett's ability as a coach. It's all about an Oline that can impose their will and a QB with receivers that can make plays outside of the system.

Give JG credit for bringing in "his kind of guys." And get back to me when you figure out what that means after looking at our roster...

You give this guy all the resources on offense, draft picks on top of draft picks, two former head coaches on that side of the ball and a 100 million dollar investment at the QB position yet all of our losses this year are due to the offense's inability to generate points due to mistakes or an inability make adjustments in a game plan due personnel or what the defense is doing. The defense with a rag tag bunch is holding their own. I swear I've seen this story before.

And so have we.

I think Jason has done a nice job this year. Now we've hit a wall. He & his staff are going to have to get these guys ready to play & we'll see how good they are as coaches.

Thats begs the question.....is... 9-7 or 10-6 and missing the playoffs enough for Garrett to keep his job.....IDK. IMO maybe...just maybe a 1yr extension as long as OC/DC stay put.....concerned about this offense falling apart.....but really want to see this defense take the next step....Marinelli is the man to fix this D........if Marinelli walks......send'em all packing...

The Garrett experiment is on its last legs....but I think the Cowboys have found some good coordinators and don't want to lose them.

Garrett literally went from being on hot seat to possible coach of the year to being back on hot seat in matter of weeks.

And the head coach never realized he sucks?

I am sorry, but if the backup QB takes all the snaps in OTAs, takes all the snaps in training camp, talks all the snaps every Wednesday, takes more snaps than any other backup QB in the league, how the hell did the coaches, especially the freaking head coach, never realized he sucks? I find it hard to believe that Weeden was just balling in practice and then got to the game and went Brad Johnson on us. Weeden has to be sucking in practice, so the question is why the coaches didn't see it? That's on them.

Does Garrett actually think Weeden is a good backup? Seriously?

Exactly. We didn't see anything from Weeden yesterday that wasn't amply displayed in 23 games of Cleveland game film. This reeks of this organization thinking they are smarter than everyone and thinking they see something that is clearly not there.

I am sorry, but if you start the season 6-1 and end up 9-7..............you choked...........no way I could give a head coach a new contract after that type of a choke job.

After 4.5 years as head coach, if he cant make the playoffs after a 6-1 start.............he never will.

It happens.

The Packers who typically always have a backup QB or two that they are grooming last year found the cupboard completely empty when Rodgers got hurt. The rapidly found out QB #2 Seneca Wallace couldn't play in the NFL and that QB #3 Scott Tolzien was a turn-over machine and ultimately had to swallow their pride and go pick up Matt Flynn (who was sitting on the couch) off the scrap heap as their 4th QB of the season in order to stop the bleeding.

My point here is this can happen even to teams with solid front-offices who traditionally have guarded against the exact scenario of the #1 QB being out.

Garrett has done a good job gathering talent, delegating, motivating, and managing the team, but his offensive input and game day management still leaves much to be desired.

The decision to role with Weeden as backup QB looks pretty bad right now. Was that Garrett? Jerry? Just a bad game for Weeden? Who knows,,, but most teams that see extended time from the backup QB don't end up going anywhere anyways.

The one that really makes me question the coaching competence, and this includes the lauded former head coaches on offense, is how we go that entire Commander game without countering that freaking blitz. Was it even the coaches fault? I hate to say it, but a lot of it looked like Romo getting fooled and under-performing,,,

I'm so confused because one day Garret has no say and Linehan is why the offense has been so dominant. Then we lose twice and it's all Garrett. I'd kill for some consistency from you guys who hate Garrett
