This is why I'm hesitant to extend Garrett

From what I'm reading Jerry could have suited up & played better than Brandon.

I don't know about Jerry, but Dwayne Harris would definitely be a better option. They say he is the emergency QB and that he and Dez have the strongest arms on the team, although they might have said that before Weeden was here.

at this very moment I would call in T. Pryor and kick the tires on him. I dare anyone to tell me that young man is worse than what I saw on Sunday. Colt is the other one I wanted in the offseason along with giving VY a chance. I said this on the board in the offseason and was laughed at b/c Weeden was so much better. Campbell, Clemens, Jackson, Anderson are all better options. Would they have won us the game? Who knows but there is no way they lose us the game to that extent.

They should make Dustin Vaughan the backup to Romo this week.

all teams have injuries the good coaches figure out how to win like the lions and the cardinals have done so I think he has to get into the playoffs starting 6 and 1 or he wont be back along with the rest of the staff and some players

So now the Lions and Cardinals are the models of well coached, solidly-built NFL franchises? The Lions and the Cardinals? Did I wake up in an alternate universe or something?

You give this guy all the resources on offense, draft picks on top of draft picks, two former head coaches on that side of the ball and a 100 million dollar investment at the QB position yet all of our losses this year are due to the offense's inability to generate points due to mistakes or an inability make adjustments in a game plan due personnel or what the defense is doing. The defense with a rag tag bunch is holding their own. I swear I've seen this story before.

There is a good chance that the whole structure that has minimized Jerry's impact on the team will be gone if Garrett is gone. Without that structure, Jerry would have traded up to #1 overall to draft Manziel this year. Keep in mind that the wackiness has been minimized with Garret as the HC. When Jerry had Campo as HC, Jerry traded two 1st round picks for Joey Galloway. When Jerry had Wade as the HC, he traded a 1st, 3rd and 6th for Roy Williams and gave him about 10M per year.

Look at it this way...

Without Romo, this team offensively looks like garbage. There is a clear weakness in the system in place, where a back-up QB can't win games for us. What's the point of signing Garrett long-term is Romo can't last? This team is going to have to scrap whatever it is when Romo is gone. You better have a coach with a real plan and philosophy.

I don't care how good your coach is, when your QB can't hit the broad side of a barn, the offensive game plan is going to suffer. Dez could and would abuse Peterson if there was a capable QB delivering the ball.

yes I would say this is a good idea. but the team has also lost trust in weeden so we also need to find a replacement for him at the bye. i've never seen one player bring down the entire morale of the team like that.

Most years they only carry 2 QBs on the roster.

I rarely advocate just cutting players that have 1 bad game, but I wouldn't be offended if they cut Weeden.

I doubt it. Stephen is in control now and Jerry is too old to be as involved as he was in the Campo years. He admitted it last year that he doesn't have the same energy he used to.

The media guys that cover the team say that Jerry has more energy than they do, even now.

If we can't win with the best line in the league, a runningback that has made the history books, two excellent receivers in Dez and Williams, and a hall of fame tight end in Jason Witten after starting 6-1 and now with the Eagles losing their 1st string qb, then there's no justification to be made for Garrett.

So you are saying JG took the day off when we traded up to draft Mo? How about when we signed Carr?

And you don't think JG as the OC had any say in Roy Williams trade? That was all on Wade?

Ask Bill how he coaches around all the injuries the Patriots have gone thru... It happens no excuses.

yes its true even while Red was winning you were complaining

Not any complaining posted by me. Because I dont have my head buried in the sand on what Garrett is a s HC does not equate to complaining.

You want to give Red a lifetime contract extension. I say lets wait and see how the season plays out, no need for any extension yet. You say Im complaining. I say wait because its the smart thing to do. You have your own personal definition of the word complaining.

Jerry has done everything he can to minimize the influence and impact Garrett has - he's basically a cheerleader/hand clapper - yet there will still inevitably come a time when he is forced to make a strategical decision during a game. This means he has to look at what's been going on during the game, evaluate, make a decision. Anyone else believe we should've kicked the field goal rather than go for it? You take the points. Your kicker is aces. Due to the offenses' lack of ability to sustain drives, you don't expose your defense. Anybody doubt the cards were going to score again? He made a decision based on fear - fear the kick would be blocked again. Only rationale I can come up with. Kick the field goal and keep it a one score game.

Go back a game and explain why put Romo back in? No justification. It's a marathon. Another bad decision. Why? Fear. Panic mode when Romo got hurt and instead of doing what teams do - recognize your QB with a surgically repaired back just got knocked out the game but the backup has come in and led two scoring drives so let him finish so we can ensure we don't further injure our franchise QB - no, put back in your meal ticket.

The guy brings nothing.

Depends....if we win 10 games...and it is not good enough to get in....do you really think Jerry is going to fire him? Injuries are mounting for this team. At this point...winning 10 games under the current circumstances would be the best season we have had around here in a long time

I get the feeling that this thing has to happen with Garrett/Romo...otherwise you have to start over with a fresh coach and probable new quarterback. We are so far down the road with the current duo that it has become a now or never situation. Romo's days are numbered, as evidenced by his almost chronic back issues. It will retire him early I'm afraid. A new coach will more than likely change the offense, and then players must acclimate to an entirely new system. What is in place now must run its course...for better or worse, as I have said since the day Garrett was promoted.

that's true, but Colt McCoy beat us with a game plan...
