Disappointed so far. WelpI wouldn't go that far, but you're unfortunately not too far fetched.

You know what's screwed up though? Even if our D starts to play better we lost our two starting tackles. Dalton is going to be under attack! You can't make this crap up, we have too many injuries. But I'm hoping for the best.
1985. I had a fat finger on the keyboard moment.Wasn't that 1985 or 1986?
In review, I though Steele was slightly better than Knight; although, RT is a lower degree of difficulty.Hopefully Knight and Steele can give them an average level of play. You read that they started Steele when he was a liability because they thought he would improve steadily and it seems he has.
Also Erving has had stretches of playing like an average starter, if he came back to be average I would be thrilled.
This isn't the Giants who had a great defense, and got healthy in the stretch. This is the Cowboys. I hate to ruin the optimistic crowd here, but there's no Superbowl in this teams near future.
So now, what? What do we need to head in the right direction? Trades, off-season acquirement, cuts, and the like. What are your expectations moving forward, or are you still full of Jerry hype, and believe that we can still pull it off? Discuss.
I believe the season was going down the tubes until Dak got injured. With Dalton stepping in, I do have curiosity about the next few games and how Dalton perform. The Jones family likes their players a lot, so I don’t expect that they will make any trades that would upgrade the team. The Jones think that they are just one or two players that needs to be added to the team to reach the Super Bowl. It is hard to get me excited after seeing how this will play out.
This.....I don't get it. We are leading the division, and we have LVE, Cheeto, Lee, Gregory, and Erving coming back from injury. Anything can happen in the playoffs
I'm less concerned on offense. Even with a banged up Line, playcalling can counter it considering the surrounding talent. We basically have 3 #1's at receiver, and easily a top 5 back.
The defense magically doing a 180 is to me far fetched, because I feel Nolan is the most responsible for what we're seeing vs talent.
I think a lot of you are misunderstanding me. If you think we're winning a Superbowl this year you're crazy! (IMO) I'd be happy for a playoff STINT, of course. What I am saying is, I don't see enough from all 3 phases to suggest we are in contention to be a team that excels consistently in the future. Outside of the offense (and that is breaking down), there's not much to get excited about. What I am asking from my fellow zoners is, what do you think personally gets us closer, and/or are you just buying the hype, and believe we are there?
A lot of responses have been from prominent, intelligent poster's here, and I feel that most of you have just misunderstood my intoxicated driven post, without proper context.
Could be, but no preseason, entirely new staff, new HC, might have contributed.I'm honestly perplexed. I think the
this team has a lot of talent. Just no cohesion. Maybe because they draft BAP, instead of drafting a fit for scheme? Who knows.

Good lord. I'm sorry I hurt your feelings by expressing my opinions. The internet must be a scary place for you.
You are giving the FO a lot of undeserved credit. As I said, anybody can go a couple decades without being producing a Super Bowl contender. How many championship teams do you remember seeing in Dallas over the last 20+ years? I can’t believe the low standards you have for this bunch. I refuse to glorify mediocrity, but you have no problem doing it. That is one reason why the FO has no problem with losing. They know that Cowboy fans will continue to spend their money no matter how pathetic a team Jerry assembles. Cowboy fans just lap it up and keep spending. Tell me exactly what all of those scouts and personnel have found that a draft guide has not. This team is not loaded with undiscovered, late round gems that are playing at an All-Pro level and the picks made in the first 3-4 rounds are known by every fan that keeps up with the draft. How do you feel comfortable defending this mess year after year?this is why fans are clowns, you think you could do a better job and are ignorant for thinking as much..
you think Jerry and jerry alone is sitting up on some pedestals' making these draft picks and all the decsions?
you are solely mistaken, Like all Teams the DC FO relies on a large scouting department that scout year round, will Mclay, the current coaching staff and yes the jones are part of the decsions but they have many voices guiding them and a Pro Team is run lime corporation regardless if it a family who has primary ownership.. there are many employees within this origination that have strong input on all decsions..
I dont look back 30 years you grade teams much like college 4-5 years at time so many players and coaches etc change over time its never the same even if it feels like it and the last 5-10 years you can see the difference in the decsions within the organization..
yes the campo years that 4-5 year period post jimmy shock jerry ran around like he had PTSD a rudderless boat were bad real bad..this is not those years.. it was horrible
If this is my kid, it needs rehab, and better association. The season is not over by a long shot but that depends on how you define the season. 13-3 and headed to the SB? That was over before it started because they didn't do enough to fix the on going problem and why they haven't gone any deeper in the playoffs. Don't have to have a good D to have a good regular season but the playoffs are different.
The Cowboys are still in line to take the East and prevent the Eagles from being the first to repeat since 2004, when they last did that. That is good enough for me to call this a successful season.
And no I haven't lowered my standards, I adjusted in order to stay a fan of the team I have been a fan of for over 50 years and some seem to think by keeping those SB or bust standards, they are better fans than I am.
Ya know, I look at being a fan like having a kid. They can disappoint us and surprise us and frustrate us and inspire us and they can change as they mature, just as my fanhood has done. One thing I have done that many here have not, accepted how things are and will be as long as the present management is in place. I have not lowered my standards as much as I have realigned my expectations to limit disappointment. Great expectations beget great disappointment.
Vice a versa, my cowboy brotherDid not hurt my feelings at all ...... I am used to posters like you.
This is actually one of my concerns too. I feel we will still win the Division, but I'm not sure that's necessarily a good thing for us at this point. This is clearly not a Championship-caliber team, so us prevailing over a bad Division only pushes us further down the draft-pick ladder. Of course you always play to win, but would I be terribly upset if we fell short of the Division and it landed us a better draft position? Imagine if the draft difference between 7-9 (Division champs, eliminated 1st round) and 6-10 (no playoffs) is the difference between choosing 21st and 8th.
Agreed! And we knew that before the season started. Only two first year head coaches have ever won the Super Bowl. Don McCafferty with the Colts and George Seifert with the 49ers.
Anybody who expected a Super Bowl fooled themselves.
This team desperately needs a reset game. They need a game they control from start to finish to build some confidence. So far every game has been an emotional uphill battle. They get down, they come back only to fall in a hole (again). This team seems to be nice guys while they are getting mugged by people who want to stomp their throats.
