The Cowboys could make some serious headway this off season if they want to.

They can create a ton of salary cap room - but will they?

Sign some FA's and get back some healthy players and the roster improves quite a bit.
I think their lack of improvement going into this year is going to roll over into next and make it more challenging to breakthrough into playoff contention. The Cowboys have a significant talent deficit across the board and their highest paid player is not even top 10 at is position.

Even with the injuries, its not hard to see how far this team is away from being a contender.

Aside from questionable coaching, we have deficiencies all over the roster. We need:

QB
2 WRs
LT
NT
TE
S
RB
LB

Its going to take at least 2 more seasons to rebuild this roster smh
The end tail of the Jerry/Dak era will end up where its leader will take it..............in the sewer!

Who are all these excellent free agents that you would sign that would drastically improve the team? Please name them. Some of this free agency talk is complete bullsh. The Cowboys tried that approach back in the early 2000’s and it led no where. I can get signing one free agent that drastically improves the team if the position is one of a few. Kicking the can down the road just delays the inevitable. The team is and was never going anywhere (but an early playoff loss) with Dak as the starting QB. That contract just defines how bad of a GM the Cowboys have.
Good teams at least try to fill some holes with veterans because there aren't enough draft picks to fill every need. They don't need to sign superstars, just some functional pieces.

Dallas did nothing last year to replace guys like Tony Pollard, Tyron Smith, Dorance Armstrong, Tyler Biadasz, Stephon Gilmore, and so on.

They signed Zeke and Eric Kendricks. And they wouldn't even have had Kendricks if he didn't back out of his 49ers deal.

They are nowhere near being able to contend with the top of the league, but I’m not sure that’s the goal

Just be good enough to contend, maybe win a wild card game so Jerry can sell.

That’s about it. It’s over. Possibly for a very long while.

I have zero doubt that Washington, Houston, Miami and even Cleveland make CGs before Dallas does, and 90 year old Jerry is still talking about the rim and trying to prove that he can do what Jimmy did.

:hammer:

We could sign the top free agent at each position. It wont matter in the end because of the QB.

Win a shootout? He cant do it

Win in a defensive slugfest? He cant do it

Commanders have a QB. We dont.

Horrible example
The same qb that just lost to this trash team? You continue this woe is me crying but at the end of the day Dak has made the playoffs before. If you want to say he’s a choke artist fair enough but to pretend like Daniel’s who has done nothing is a contender but we aren’t because we don’t have 10 positions is silly.

If the Cowboys would’ve cleared 6-10 million they have a completely different season. Eagles literally went from a dog to a contender getting Barkley.

Half of that will get back just from injuries. But we need a quarterback.

I get it, brother B, you hate Dak. But the fact is, he's our QB for what, 3 more years? Since you say he's a scrub, no team is going to trade for him since he's a scrub with a huge deal. A deal I am not happy about, btw. I support him since he's our QB, but he didn't deserve that record contract.

We don't need any more receivers. Unless CD's backups are FA's. CD is a bad a** and we have some good ones behind him. What we need is a total overhaul of our offensive philosophy. RUN THE DAMN BALL! Take the ball out of Dak's hands. He's no Brady, Myhomie, etc. Instead of drafting pass blocking linemen, get road graters like Tyler Smith is. Bad things will happen when Dak throws for over 30 times. We can't change our offensive philosophy with Mike's outdated play designs. Has he ever been a run first type play designer? I don't think so. So we got to get rid of him. The embarrassing loss today helps that. I would love to know the Rojoskins out of the playoffs next week. But if we get blown out again, I wouldn't cry over it since maybe that's the nail in his coffin.

I pretty much agree with you on the rest. A stud in the middle of the d-line. A road crater to replace Steele. And a tough, hard running RB. I like that kid who replaced Overshown. Can't think of his name at the moment and too lazy to look him up right now. He's a little small for a LBer, but he's got some toughness to his game.

I team with that many deficiencies is clearly a GM problem.

Teams are judged from their overall season, not months
No they aren’t. If you go 4-0 in September and go 0-4 December guess what you will get judged for? That collapse. Nobody cares the Eagles started 10-1 last year when they lost in December to backups.

It’s 2024. You can’t hide your QB. Look at the Eagles. They are run first but that didn’t mean they didn’t need Devonta and AJ.
