This team is nowhere ready to contend

The Cowboys can restructure Dak, Lamb, Diggs, and Steele's contracts and be sitting on around $80 million of available cap space.

But they won't. Jerry and Cap Boy already have this year's built-in excuse for doing nothing; "we have to pay Micah".

Which they can and still have a ton of money left over. They count on fans being naive.
Please send Steele packing he’s the weak link on the line well he and guyton but there’s upside to him we’ve seen what Steele is

Good teams at least try to fill some holes with veterans because there aren't enough draft picks to fill every need. They don't need to sign superstars, just some functional pieces.

Dallas did nothing last year to replace guys like Tony Pollard, Tyron Smith, Dorance Armstrong, Tyler Biadasz, Stephon Gilmore, and so on.

They signed Zeke and Eric Kendricks. And they wouldn't even have had Kendricks if he didn't back out of his 49ers deal.

They have mostly operated in the mid to low free agent classes. And it yielded three straight 12-5 seasons. They could do more and this past one they did not want to spend lots.

Signing even functional pieces can get very pricey. They thought that 12-5 seasons could just be replicated or gotten close to. The team was garbage this year. They got 4 of the seven wins from teams drafting in the top ten picks. This team was never going anywhere of much importance even at full health.

I have no idea how many fans cannot see the Cowboy’s team current spiral down the drain. They need MANY pieces just to contend with a decent unbroken QB. They do not have a decent unbroken QB on this roster and will not entering next season either.

Even with the injuries, its not hard to see how far this team is away from being a contender.

Aside from questionable coaching, we have deficiencies all over the roster. We need:

QB
2 WRs
LT
NT
TE
S
RB
LB

Its going to take at least 2 more seasons to rebuild this roster smh
Two seasons? This team last two season draft class has been POOR and since Jerry wants to over value his own players and handout record contracts, then FA is very limited. Until this team can turn around their draft picks, this franchise is 5+ years away. And let's not forget, throwing away not once but twice, their 4th round picks that seems to also was a stupid move ( Lance/Mingo)

Start with the GM

Listen I’m not trying to be snarky so don’t take it that way, but let’s live in reality. This isn’t changing at all. When he cross the rainbow bridge you’re getting the same if not worse when Spaulding takes the reins.

Nah this offense needs some juice. Think, a RB version of Turpin (Jeanty).

Rico did his job and i applaud him for it but he isnt the answer.

What Rico did this season reminds me of what Darren McFadden did in 2015. He had over 1k yards on a bad team but we took Zeke and the offense was next level
He's not a game breaker but he's well above average. I wouldn't be opposed to drafting someone like Jeanty in the first round. We definitely need to add a running back somewhere in the draft.

It was obvious after week two we were nowhere near ready to contend. The two teams that have the best shot of reaching the Super Bowl in the NFC destroyed us. Philly destroyed us twice.

This is BS. Commanders suck and are contending. This ain’t the 90s. You guys have got to get off of this “process” crap Garrett started. It doesn’t take 2 or more seasons to contend.

Follow the blueprint. Start inside out. From the trenches out. Once you commit to the trenches it will improve the rest of your team. It’s so simple yet people just refuse to see what the good teams are doing.
Jerry refuses to “to see what the good teams are doing”.

I appreciate the perspective, but things turn quick in the NFL. Just as quick as we went from a 12 win team to what we're now we could reverse course with adding a couple more guys in the offseason, getting healthier, and a new coaching staff. My main concern is if the Cowboys have another quiet offseason, watch their guys leave and hope to just fill holes with rookies and 3rd tier free agents, and roll back the same coaching staff. If that's the case next season isn't likely to be any better.

No they aren’t. If you go 4-0 in September and go 0-4 December guess what you will get judged for? That collapse. Nobody cares the Eagles started 10-1 last year when they lost in December to backups.
And if you go 4-0 in December and 0-4 in September, you think anyone will care? Hell the Bengals are the perfect example, they went 1-4 in September, and are 4-1 in December. You think people are gonna remember their December record if they miss the playoffs? They're gonna look at their overall season

Now that Washington finally has a legit QB the Cowboys have two teams in the NFC East they have to contend with. The only battle they’ll have is with the Giants for the basement if they don’t start making some significant moves during the off-season.

We need two years to build a team that could contend for the SB.

we lost FIVE TIMES in SIXTEEN GAMES by 24 POINTS OR MORE

Good thing we have a strong FA plan.

If the Cowboys would’ve cleared 6-10 million they have a completely different season. Eagles literally went from a dog to a contender getting Barkley.
“dog”? They won 11 games last season and made the playoffs. Blown out in the wild card round, everyone here knows how that feels. They’ve won 13 games this season, may well get blown out in the wild card round again, but if they were a dog after last season, what are the Cowboys now?

Philly went from playoff team to better playoff team. Are they better than Minnesota and Detroit? They don’t look it right now. At least they’ll get the opportunity to find out.

A Head Coach who commands respect (despite Jerry)

An OC who calls a modern offense.

A #2 WR.

A # 1 RB.

A DT or 2.

A Safety who can run faster than Jerry.

A completely different approach to free agency than the Jones' failed philosophy of the last decade.

Rico is above average but not WELL above average
