Let’s be real if Dak plays well and takes Dallas to the Super Bowl he is not taking less than Borrow. If Dak plays well and gets us to the NFC championship game he not taking less then Herbert. Do the Joneses want to pay Dak at age 31 50 million a season when Parsons and CeeDee might ask for 30 million a season? When you can get Lance on low guaranteed extension if he practices well and learns your system.
I do see the angle here. I'm not saying it's right, but it is a legit motivation for the trade. Trey Lance is going into his 3rd year. He has a 4th and possible 5th year option. But the Cowboys would have to make this decision by next year. I can see Jerry trading for Lance to try and leverage Dak's agent. I'm just not sure about doing it to replace Dak. Because if that were the case, Dallas would have to eat that 60M next year. Can't restructure a QB you're not going to keep. Beyond that, Lance won't take a low grade extension. He'll want top dollar. He might take a 1 year deal, but not a bargain extension.

Great job for once. Dak needs some real pressure. Lance was a high pick, comes from a winning program and didn’t play much due to injury. This gives me hope I haven’t had since 2006
this is zero pressure on Dak. this is Bash Dak Over Dallas Cult thinking. TMZ stuff. Lance is the 3rd stringer. he has to beat Rush and he hasn't. the pressure is on Lance, since he was the 3rd pick, now got traded for garbage pick. he has this two years to prove he is worth it or else, he get dumped and never heard from again. or becomes a back p guy going from team to team to team for minimal contracts to stay employed.

lance got beat by Darnold, who was a bust and been dumped and now relegated to back up and a 7th round pick. it wasn't because of injuries. he is got skills, but doesn't underestand the NFL game. will he learn? this is his chance.

Zeke sucks.

The Packers traded a 40 year old Rodgers who had a huge cap hit as well. Dak can be traded. He would lift his no trade clause to get to a team of his choosing . To be honest this looks just like the Packers situation. Russ had a no trade clause as well when he was traded to Denver.

No idea how anyone could like this deal.
We already had a proven backup….used a fourth round pick which frankly is a bit high, needed help in other areas and how does Lance even dress for games as a 3?
He’s yet to prove he can even play

Lol. Nice comedy for a Saturday. He couldn’t beat out Jimmy G, Mr Irrelavet or Darnild. Dak is top 10 Qb in the league. He was traded so the Cowboys can have their play book.

Dak sucks, and lance gives you hope?

If there was ever a doubt you have no clue about qbs this erases it.

But how do they come to that decision by next year? Just assume Lance can play? Especially if Dak has success. That move would be controversial, and that's putting it mildly. If Dak doesn't have success, no one would pick up his contract in a trade.

I don't put it out of the question because Jerry did it before with Emmitt after winning a SB. Did it to Jimmy Johnson after two consecutive SBs.

Dak Haters are imploding...

They thought if Dak Hate shaped the Narrative early in the Trade it would stick :lmao2: :lmao2:

Then Dak Haters WOKE Sunday morning and realized they just mortgaged away their Cooper Rush Nick Foles Fantasy for a Skinny Dak with Carson Wentz pedigree :lmao::lmao:

Perhaps eventually but not immediately. A former third stringer will not be pressuring an established starter, especially without first grasping a new team's offensive gamebook.

The earliest pressure Dak Prescott might begin feeling is most likely sometime in mid-2024. A 25-year-old Trey Lance would probably be more equipped to challenge him the following training camp.

I would not surprise me if Lance's career has been reset to rookie status. His next premiere as a starter may track along the lines of Jordan Love's first debut, minus or plus one year.

I agree and I wasn’t saying they should do that but I’m sure it’s factoring into their thought process here…tl just give them another potential path if dak is bad this year…I do like the forward thinking and options vs being forced down one path
Same here.

And he didn't get much of an opportunity. Now he does have an opportunity.
Nonsense....Trey Lance was given the keys to an Iconic franchise and spit the bit..don't have to create sob story for this kid....He had an awful injury... 2nd surgery will be a year out in Dec 2023.
This is a fresh start with another Iconic franchise with a staff to help with recovery with Prescott as the model but higher upside in Lance.....

Trey Lance has been given the best opportunities a successful collegiate QB could hope for.

I suppose it depends on what the definition of 'success' is regarding Dak's play in 2023. If he has a similar year as 2022 in terms of turnovers, that is a trend detrimental to both Dallas and trade compensation. If Dak plays 'okay' wherein the Dallas defense is winning the games and Dak is steering the bus so to speak and Dallas has another early playoff exit, well these things start to increase the question as to what Dallas should do regarding Dak.

Nobody is saying Dallas traded for Allen, Burrow, or Herbert in the least but bringing in a recent #3 overall pick QB, even if he clearly struggled in SF and was traded for a 4th-round pick after all that SF gave up to draft him, especially if he shows positive signs to Dallas by way of practice and any in game experience, well that certainly turns the temperature up on Dak even if just a few degrees. Dak really had nothing to worry about with a near 30-year old UDFA back-up in Cooper Rush (even if he played well enough to help compile a 5-1 record in Dak's absence) nor Will Grier (a soon to be released/traded 28-year old former 3rd round pick of the Panthers who had moments of both positivity and negativty)......but even with his SF struggles Trey Lance offers a higher level of opportunity potentially.
