The thing is he is known for having a pretty quick release. I do think they are going to work on his motion and it will help him be a better, more accurate passer.

I have seen QB after QB with problems in their throwing motion. I don't think any of them was ever fixed . Some of the QBs was worse after the attempted change. Tebow sure seemed more accurate in college than he ever did after pro coaching.

Guess you didn't get the memo that we're suppose to hate each and every one of the Cowboys' coaching staff.

...Come'on Idgit! Get with the hate!

Why don't you tell us who he developed? He's had multiple (young) QB's on the roster, including a previous 4th round pick, and they washed out. We bring in Weeden and Cassel and they flop miserably. Cassel said when he reported here no one was available to start working with him. I'd think if I was a QB coach and we just signed a new QB during the season, I'd cancel my dinner plans on the weekend and get to work.

I don't know why it's some shocking revelation that some fans have questions about Wade Wilson. You should really have those same questions.

Dak doesn't need to relearn his throwing motion. He just needs to be consistent, that's all. Every rookie QB ever has had to learn the same thing. In the pros, you can't get away with being sloppy and you have to be a technician.

Nothing like over analyzing a guy who was never viewed as being a guy who could step right in and play.

You're right -- Prescott has been well documented to be an incomplete package that'll need considerable refining to be totally ready to assume the backup role, much less becoming a starter. Nevertheless, the tangibles and many intangibles are there to be had to facilitate his development. We'll be obliged to remain patient and permit the coaches sufficient time to mold him into a better and more complete product at QB. Prescott's main problem has been characterized as his footwork far more than his throwing motion. That's highly correctable.

why? why? let me start off with Brandon freaking Weeden,a former first rd pick . Wilson had 2 years to work with him and he failed him completely.Weeden has a cannon for a arm but I can count on 1 hand the number of deep balls he threw last season. We deliberately made him a dink and dunk QB,teams knew he wouldn't go deep.now we have another backup with a noodle arm and teams know he cant go deep, how many games do you think we will win Kellen Moore?.

Wilson does not create the game plan, so where did he fail exactly?

Drew Brees has done alright with a similar throwing motion, not saying Dak will be anything special, although he has a chance to be a fair NFL starter.
Gathers is very athletic. Check this out and try to contain your enthusiasm.

He looked slow off the line in his one rep on the video and almost fell after the catch. He's got work to do

This. We are unlikely to mess with his throwing motion. That is too ingrained in muscle memory by now. But his drop back and footwork are an open book. Teach him to get back quick, find the right receiver and be ready to throw at end of drop back, and plant that right foot hard and let the ball go, and he'll be fine. We are a timing based passing offense, so the drop back and footwork is the very important to a QBs development

so the gameplan is not to use the Qbs strength? nevermind ,I know the answer to that one.

that's irrelevant to the merits or lack thereof of Wade Wilson. his job is to work with the QBs, not to create the gameplan. So again, where has Wilson failed?

I love the idea of teaching an NFL QB how to throw a football properly. Love it.

Wasted pick.

Most QB's coming out of college need some type of work, many with footwork and throwing motion, and how they work together.
College football does not produce Robo QB's, or as Parcels once said...what am I supposed to do, dial 1-800-Quraterback...or what ever that saying was....

Just watched some of the rookie minicamp. You guys who are already complaining are laughable. Seriously. It was a practice. One. Mainly all rookies. In shorts. Lol

No he didn't. Romo had an outstanding throwing motion when he got here. You don't change someone's mechanics significantly at this point, they can either throw the ball with accuracy or they can't. It was fun to hear about Tim Tebow throwing tens of thousands of passes to correct his throwing motion only to watch him revert back to his old form after about, oh, two passes.

This is a joke. This guy is supposed to be learning the nuances of reading defenses and being a competent field manager and we're gonna waste time teaching this guy how to throw a football properly. Call me crazy, but I think if you draft a QB, he should know how to throw a football already. This guy's motion SUCKS, which means no ability to throw with accuracy repeatedly. A nice throw followed by an erratic throw. Awesome.

Can you go teach him then, I mean, if you can determine he sucks, then go teach him the right way....go ahead, we have 4 months before game 1.

Who would you rather have? The guy with a perfect motion but a doofus, like Eli? Or a leader with a strange throwing motion who checks off the leader and intangible boxes like Phillip Rivers? Give me Rivers everyday and twice on Sunday.
