Thursday Night NFL Preseason Thread

Glad we have that settled after watching his first ever NFL snaps.

Elliott better run for 125 yards and 5.5 yards per carry his first NFL preseason game or we might have to conclude he's a bust.

He won't even play in his "first preseason game", but that will be given a free pass, because 'Cowboys'.

Yeah what an unreasonable thing for a Cowboys fan to do

Take shots at a player from another team, who actually played, and played under duress, and make excuses for your guy when he doesn't even play? If you think that's reasonable, you need to look up the definition.

The Eagles didn't give up that much for Wentz. They only gave up essentially next year's first and second. That's really it. Some of you are acting like they wont make a first or second round pick for like 5 years.

And yet Prescott will get nowhere near the same benefit of the doubt your Jesus wentz will get

He will from me.

But that being said, only a Cowboys homer thinks that Prescott has a better chance of being a franchise QB than Wentz.

Wentz plays for the Eagles. Elliot plays for the Cowboys. It's quite reasonable for anyone who hates the Eagles and loves the Cowboys to do that

Then your personal definition of "reasonable" differs from mine. I can separate fandom from reality. I'm not going to criticize Wentz for actually playing well under duress and then turn around and make excuses for Elliott not playing at all. I'm not blinded by jersey color.

First preseason game. Give it a couple years. Soon, it will be like the McNabb and Campo period.

Its a preseason game not a real one. No need to play Elliot in a preseason game that means nothing even he will have 3 other games to get playing time.

Wentz won't even be active even games matter....Elliott meanwhile will be starting on America's Team.

Also don't see how 50 percent completion percentage 0 TDs and 1 pick and fumble is considered playing well

All this wentz bashing is crazy. It was his first preseason game. He definitely showed some things, romo wasn't anything special at all when he first played. Hell that goes for slot of hall of fame qbs too. It's takes time

Remember where you are.

Preseason games mean plenty for a rookie in my opinion. I only wish this team felt the same way. I'm seeing a pattern of nobody playing in the preseason and then a team that's rusty starting the season. Other teams aren't afraid to get players work in preseason games, this team shouldn't be either. Injuries happen. That doesn't mean you should keep everyone in mothballs for fear of them.

If you haven't, take a look at the actual game footage. I watched it last night and came away impressed with him. The game doesn't look too big for him, and other than a boneheaded red zone pick, I thought he looked very good while the team around him looked like trash.

I can separate his performance from the jersey he's wearing where it appears that some other fans can't.

What makes it reality? The 89 yards and a pick with 50% completion? Sounds like you are blinded but by green

Just be clear
They gave up THIS years early 1st too.
So two most likely very early 1st rounders (worth about 4 mid/later 1st rounders) plus an early 3rd and 4th this year and 2nd in 2018.

The gave up a TON

With 4 preseason games please explain why Elliott should play in the first game while trying to heal from a hamstring injury? That makes tons of sense that way Elliott can be like Miles Austin.

I can separate jerseys too but I feel Wentz bandwagon fans can't stop drooling over him. I heard the same thing in the senior bowl....his recievers dropped balls...mmmm seems like history with this guy. It's his recievers in the senior bowl, his recievers in Philly.

Bet if Dak has the same stat line we will hear yall Philly....I mean Wentz fans, complain that we wasted a 4th round pick

They swapped first rounders, gave 2016 3rd and 2016 4th, 2017 1st, & 2018 2nd. They'll get a 2017 late round 4th back.

They should have a first again in 2018 (but no second). I don't think it was worth it for Wentz (I didn't really like the prospect), but not bad to move up for the second pick.

Shows that the Cowboys can do the same if needed for all the hand-wringing about the QB of the future after Romo.

If that's all you see, it sounds like you didn't actually watch the game. His receivers dropped numerous passes - especially #16 who probably shouldn't and won't be on the team - and his pass protection was horrendous behind a second-string offensive line with substandard players.

Those are mitigating circumstances and key factors in his overall numbers. I can recognize that despite the green jersey.
