Tight End Speed

The Cowboys value versatility over flat speed at the tight end position.

Nobody knows if none are as good.

Witten couldn't stretch the seems for years now and his blocking had fallen off too.

With that said... I know nothing about Jarwin but Rico looks like the only player capable of making big plays.

Swaim and Schultz are just typical NFL TE's that every team has. Dime a dozen types.

Yup with was so bad none of these fools cut into his playing time at all.....

Swaim has ability but the coaches ignored him after he returned from injury.

Rico can do some things but far from a complete player, maybe this year he does more.

We haven't seen the other 2 yet. But in regards to stretching the field, your barking up the wrong system. Our TE aren't asked to stretch, they are easy safety targets. I doubt we see that much difference in what plays these coaches call. Even when swaim and Hannah made some good plays these coaches wouldnt continue to use them. It was like they are gimmick plays or something used in rare instances.

An orange traffic cone would probably be as efficient of a blocker as Witten was his final couple of years.

This is true, and really pure speed is never the primary asset for a TE on any team. Obviously it is an asset, but there is a reason teams aren't using sprinters for the position.

Witten never got open with speed but he always got open
He ran good routes, used his body to get coverage out of position and to shield off defenders
I don’t think any of our guys are fast but I’m more concerned about them getting open than out running guys
With the team valuing blocking so high you will never have a burner out there much even if you have one. Few if any TE with good speed are also good blockers

These rose colored glasses....... ( tune by E.T.C.)
Your the first person to accuse me of looking through rose colored glasses. I'm one of the most brutally honest posters here. I simply post the truth .

Are we talking 2007 Witten or 2017 Witten? Now I love Jason Witten and think the negativity he got here was beyond ridiculous. That said, he slowed down big time over the past few years. He shuffled more than ran. Still he caught everything and had a knack of getting open. These young guys are definitely faster. Faster does not equal better.

Pretty sure Schultz is slower than 2017 Witten

I know that pretty much anyone other than a paraplegic could outrun Witten, so I am sure we upped our tight end speed over Witten. But does anyone know if any of these guys has any significant speed. Hanna did, but that ship sailed. Anything close to the 4.5 that's Hanna ran?

They all run faster than 82, probably even in his hay day. I'm not concerned about the TE's on this team at all. I'm thrilled that we're actually going to evaluate them in TC, for once in 14 years

-------They are all slower than Witten And Witten is not slow

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Witten was faster to the catch point than the defense. Witten was plenty fast and was still an excellent blocker.
He knew where he needed to go and ran excellent routes. I know it is fun sometimes to talk about his lack of RAC ability, but not many TEs have that.

Witten did exactly what he was asked to do, week in, week out in this scheme.

It's nice to read something from someone that knows what they are talking about. So many people here just don't get it.
