Tight End Speed

Naw...TO clocked him.
TO..right..Witten was a smart tight end who was sneaky and learned to trick coverage..wheh he was two to three years into the league he made corners look stupid by watching their hips, he would turn the opposite way as soon as he saw them break their hips
. HE never was fast!

I agree that both Novacek and Billy Joe Dupree were damn good. Just not as good as Witten.

Great blocker never targeted much but he did catch what was thrown his way
Yep, swaim and him alot alike in that way.. Dallas took swaim because his blocking skills are topshelf..and he caught balls when they through em..

link?

I know as a rookie has was a 4.65 guy. But I'd be shocked if he could break 4.8 later in his career
Dont need a link it was reported during training camp Witten stays in shape year round he is still in shape

WITTENS knees were shot...I was amazed to see him moving as well as he was last year in training camp..

You bums are on the pot! SWAIM may have been!
Like I said, he slowed down later in his career
...as they all do.
Are you saying that when Witten came into the league, it couldn't run a 4.65?

He does not run a 4.66 now..like i said you dont have to be that fast to put your hands up higher than A 6-62 corner!

I know that pretty much anyone other than a paraplegic could outrun Witten, so I am sure we upped our tight end speed over Witten. But does anyone know if any of these guys has any significant speed. Hanna did, but that ship sailed. Anything close to the 4.5 that's Hanna ran?

I think someone was claiming last year that Witten still ran a 4.65. I was skeptical.

Swaim, Schultz, and Jarwin all around 4.7. Rico is slower. We're not getting speed out of our TEs. And I can live with that.

What I'd like to see out of our TEs is more physicality. When you're slow but have 50 pounds on a DB trying to tackle you, you should hit him, not be a target for him to hit. I don't remember Witten ever really hitting a tackler.

It's a game of attrition. Let's have Rico at 290 go looking for some DBs to run over.

Nothing wrong with his knees he retired probably because he just got tired of it or because all of his buddies were gone

No sir, i said for another time whitten aint running a 466 now..he did when he came in..he had bad knees..he was better than some wr when he first came into the league!

Witten was slow but would have been fine if the Cowboys WRs had a lot more speed.

Dez was very slow in 2017.

Beasley is very quick but his speed didn't threaten defenses either after the catch or deep.

TWill was faster than Dez but has very average speed for an NFL WR.

Replace Dez with Randy Moss in his prime and replace Beasley with Tyreek Hill and Witten would have been good enough to play a few more years.
