But Dez was going to be fined quite heavily if he missed games.

He may have been willing to be fined we don't know. He threatened to miss games and we needed him after losing Murray. He could have been bluffing and Jerry didn't want to call his bluff.

Dez ended his 'holdout' on July 15th....let's stop with the dramatics

He broke his foot after stepping awkwardly....it had nothing to do with a contract or missing a couple OTAs in May

This cannibalization of Dez and TRomo around here is pathetic...they are being treated like Quincy and TO

Dez is very good at disappearing so don't expect to see him. I have grown so tired of his act.

in 1992 michael irvin held out along with jay novacek and mark stepnoski.

Irvin's yardage total and TD's went down in each of the 3 seasons after his contract season in 91.

Did jerry get forced to pay him to because he had no leverage?

Michael Irvin threatened to take a job at fox 4 and work in the sports department until someone paid him fair market value. Don't recall dez going that far. When Irvin returned after signing late everyone drove him nuts about being rusty and missing timing.

Guess they should have let irvin walk too. Dez has been injured and the offense was a mess last season when he did return and play hurt. I can't believe how foolish fans of this team are.

Irvin and Novacek didn't have the leverage Dez had, they both only had one good season. Both were signed by the start of the regular season. Irvin's numbers dropped slightly after his extension, he was still having great, productive seasons that had him as one of the top 2-3 receivers in the game. He had 1396 yards in 92 which was only 127 yards fewer than his previous season and 75 yards more than Dez's career high. Only Sterling Sharpe had more receiving yards than Irvin that season. Irvin's yards per catch average in 92 was 17.9 which was higher than in 91 and he caught only one fewer TD. In 93 he had 1330 yards receiving with another 7 TD's and those 1330 yards was second in the entire league behind only Jerry Rice. The 7 TD's he caught in 92 and 93 were only one off his career high.

While he was having very productive seasons that had him as one of the top receivers in the league after signing his contract, Dez's numbers have completely fallen off to the point where he's not even the most productive receiver on his own team. His numbers have fallen off to the point where he doesn't even resemble the same player anymore. He ranked 5th on the team in receiving last season and he's 4th on the team this season. A couple of years ago he was one of the top 3-4 receivers in the league and now he's not even mentioned with some of the best receivers in the game. To compare Irvin's drop in production after his contract with Dez's drop in production the past 2 seasons is hilarious! LOL Irvin's numbers DWARF Dez's numbers the 2 seasons following his contract extension, go do a comparison.

You are acting as if Dez has been healthy and not producing. Its the exact opposite of that. He has been injured. How can he produce if he is injured?

For crying out loud, how long did it take Irvin to go back or become if you will Irvin after his injury? Two years?
Dez has a chance this year to have great numbers still.

From reading your posts your hate of dez makes it sounds like its the offseason and he was terrible. Completely foolish.

and LOL at Irvin not having the leverage dez had. LOL.

What excuse do you have for his lack of production in the playoffs in 2014? After a 1300+ regular season and a franchise record 16 TD's he only had 6 caches for 86 yards and no TD's in 2 playoff games. He was 3rd in receiving on his own team in the playoffs and Beasley, Witten and Twill all had more receiving yards. Seems to me he started thinking about his contract immediately after the 2014 regular season and forgot about the playoffs. In the 2015 opener before he got injured he was having an average game. In the opener this season before he got injured again he had a career low one catch for 8 yards and dropped what could have been the deciding TD. He hasn't done anything since the 2014 regular season.

He was healthy in the 2014 playoffs and didn't produce, he was 3rd on the team in receiving. All we did during that offseason was talk about a catch he didn't make according to the rule. He was healthy in the opener and had a career low one catch for 8 yards and dropped what could have been the deciding TD because he still hasn't figured out how to hold onto to the ball through the contact of the ground. As for Irvin explain how he could have had the leverage Dez had coming off one good season? He only played 3 seasons on his rookie contract, while Dez had played 5 years on his and had put together 3 consecutive 1000 yard seasons.

no its called not wasting my time. I could explain to you but then you are going to keep responding with this incredibly ignorant position that an injured player without his qb is supposed to put up all pro numbers.

So I will just leave it be. You hate dez, good for you.

make sure you do not cheer for him when he lights up mckelvin sunday like he did when we played buffalo a few years ago.

You made the choice to respond, I didn't initiate this discussion. Dez didn't put up numbers in the playoffs with a QB that was an MVP candidate in 2014. He didn't put up numbers in the 2015 season opener with his QB before he got injured. He hasn't put up many numbers with one of the top rookie QBs the NFL has seen in many years. On opening day there wasn't a receiver on the field for either team that had less production than Dez. We spent most of the post game talking about another catch he didn't make that could have been the difference in the game.

You can't explain anything and no I don't hate Dez but he admitted he didn't work hard enough entering the 2015 season. He wasn't mentally ready to play and you could tell in the 2015 opener. You would have thought after what happened last season he would be ready to have a big game in the opener and get back to being the player he was but he disappointed with the lowest production of his career and had another critical drop. He's having another injury plagued season and once again we're having to deal with his immaturity issues.

I don't hate Dez, I'm disappointed in his play and his continued immaturity. We've spent more time talking about his Twitter battle with Skip Bayless than what he's done on the field this season. The only news he's made this season is being injured again, his Twitter battle with Bayless and cutting his finger while making soup. With a big contract comes expectations. He should be in the prime of his career and it's looking like his best days may be over. We've won 3 straight games without him, with the last 2 games being our most impressive.

Things have gone so sour for Dez a thread was started with someone hoping he doesn't play and some are worrying about him ruining our chemistry once he returns. We're seeing threads about Dez that are leading to discussions that would have seemed like a joke a couple of years ago. It's not just me who's down on him, I'm not the one who's starting these topics.

He may have been willing to be fined we don't know. He threatened to miss games and we needed him after losing Murray. He could have been bluffing and Jerry didn't want to call his bluff.
It's been well chronicled that he never saved any money prior to the new contract. It would have been difficult for him to miss paychecks.

That could be but he was threatening to miss games. With Murray lost Jerry couldn't take the chance of calling his bluff.

He's not injury-prone, though.
Right..

none of us were surprised with Dez's injuries.

He had issues with his back and knee from his rookie season on.

These issues lead to foot and ankle issues clearly..

so we knew he was a flawed WR coming in..

not to mention his problems in college before we drafted him causing him to drop from a top 5 pick to us.

So it's all part of the Dez Experience.

He is not a TO..

he has not killed anybody with his car..

he just kills himself with his actions like not doing rehab and missing exams.

So if he's healthy..we are blessed.

If he lasts 1-2 games, we are cursed.

Nobody knows.

I think he gets re-injured again and we are back to playing without him.

Just my best guess.

Good God we have some dumba$$ "fans". Just ****, already. Pick another team to root for. I'm guessing 75% of you aren't even from Dallas anyway. Newsflash, people from the capital of the Cowboys empire don't give a squirt of piss what plebians from the outer reaches of the empire think. Know your place.

The worst part is that they are Cowboy fans.......they just get so hard headed about a stance they took once and they have to dig in and double down against all common sense....it becomes their thing

I'm not sure how big of Cowboys "fans" that they really are. Most of them are quite apparently fans of being contrarians and talking S to fans of whatever team is the home team wherever they live. I learned this once I joined the Navy and moved all over the country, and found that I couldn't stand the majority of them and that most of them were emos that had zero idea what they were talking about.

They just regurgitated lowest common denominator talking points from whatever crappy sports radio show they listened to. All the ones I know that are like that from the metroplex are just that annoying guy that likes to whine about everything, annoying everyone else around them. It gold old two decades ago, and I have zero problem pointing this fact out to them.

good thing he got 45m guaranteed.......almost sounds like he knew what he was worth

ps- I doubt he ran thru 20m unless West and Wells really stole that much from him
