If Sam were ready, I think he'd be playing. I don't think the Cowboys would jeopardize a player who could give them a couple of sacks a game just because he's gay. I mean, he's on the Cowboys team already. So that battle has already been waged.

Not really. This is the worst I've ever seen.

Cool nicknames though.

As bad as our pass rush has been, at least in terms of getting sacks, lets not forget that the vaunted Rams D-Line had exactly 1 sack heading into this last weekend.

So they've done even less with what was considered a more talented defensive line.

When Lawrence comes back I'd like to see Lawrence-Melton-Crawford-Mincey on 3rd down plays that aren't short yardage.

Mincey is beating his guy and creating pressure but without the consistent pressure coming from the other side QB's can just roll to that side and still make plays.

The Cowboys are sitting at 6-1 and are currently the best team in the NFC, and some of you are worried about putting Michael Sam on the 53? Why? Just stop it.

Umm ... not always the case. We didn't know what we had in Tony Romo, Miles Austin, and Demarco Murray until we gave them a chance to play.

I'm just sayin ...

Or maybe we gave them a chance to play when they were ready? Romo afterall was active and on the roster when he first got his shot. Same with Miles.

These are also different coaching staff we are talking about.

A staff that have shown repeatedly that it plays it's best players.

I think it was reported that Sam is not even next man up on the practice squad. Stop already with the Sam thing. If he gets a shot, that's good but clearly, he's not in the picture at this point.

Is it time for Nikita Whitlock? No? Why not? Because he aint good enough yet!

I hope he can be our backup SDE starting next year. I don't want to see Selvie back, and hopefully we move on from Spencer and get a young SDE who's natural in the 4-3.

My hopes for the future:

WDE: Lawrence/draft pick
3DT: Crawford/draft pick
1DT: draft pick/Bishop
SDE: draft pick/Sam

JG had a couple of lines about Sam recently. Praised his hard work, says he's developing and mentioned he's put in work on defense, special teams, and offense (FB maybe?)

We have Nikita Koloff on our team? The russian nightmare can't be stopped. I would rather see him play over Sam anyday.

Selvie is a lot better than Michael Sam, and still will be next season.

Your hopes for the future are unrealistic and would torpedo any chemistry or improvement this team is building upon.

Why?

You want the Cowboys to win the Superbowl?

Cowboys are currently on pace to record the fewest sacks in the ENTIRE HISTORY OF THE NFL! (16 game seasons).

Anybody with any knowledge of football is going to look at this club and automatically see that the lack of pass rush will be the biggest challenge to the team advancing the promised land.

Having said all that -- WHY NOT experiment and rotating players like Sam with some of the journeyman types playing DE now for the team? What are they going to lose? It's not like Sam is going to any less of a pass rusher.

I'm betting on another speed rusher for the defensive front via next season's draft.

Replacing one of the JAG defensive ends the team seems to cut and resign a weekly basis is going to upset team chemistry?

Poor choice of words with casmith07...he's a member of the real JAGs.

Why interrupt a good thing for a very uncertain player like Michael Sam? This guy hasn't proven anything besides going against guys who are driving beer trucks right now during the preseason. Sam isn't even close to being on the level of the guys that we have now. Sacks tell a story but they don't tell the whole story.
