Time to put Witten in the Ring?

I’m putting Romo in before Witten.

I think Ware, Romo, and Witten can all go in eventually. Witten had a historical career for a TE vs Romo who had a good career for a QB but not one of historical or statistically significance in the broader NFL. You could argue that Romo helped make Witten, Witten so if anything they probably go in together.

Woodson is already in, but I would say building a HOF career is accomplishing something. If you are talking about Super Bowls, do you really think Witten was the reason we didn't win any while he was a Cowboy?

I agree Witten should get in but the other Question is do you need to wait till after they get into the HOF....again I am a big fan of those teams but there are so many players that heavily contributed to Championship teams here that need in also whats the metric to sort them?

It's been 7 years since Jerry has put a player in the Ring of Honor. Isn't Witten the most likely next one up there? I guess the other two candidates would be D. Ware and Deion (though Deion maybe won't get in because he only played here 5 seasons).
I agree, Witten was one of the best Cowboys of all time, on and off the field. He deserves it.

I don't know that there is a metric. Just who ownership/management feels belongs

But clearly neither Jerry or previous owners felt they had to wait on the HOF. Woodson isn't in the HOF. Pearson, Wright, Harris and others got in the ROH before they got in the HOF.

But one thing to note is with the exception of Bob Lilly, no player has gotten in sooner than 3-4 years after they retired (just 1 year for Lilly)

He certainly didn't help, did he?

There needs to be a separate forum for this ring of Honor crap

Every week there's some whining thread about who should be in the ring of Honor.

It's so freaking annoying we have absolutely no control it's Jerry's toy and he will put in who he wants no matter how qualified they are it just doesn't matter .

I like Wit but he needs to wait in line with everyone else. There are just a few deserving individuals ahead of him.

Agree on Witten.
Question, is there a player in the Ring of Honor also a part of another team’s ring of honor. If the answer is no, Deion has no chance since he is in Atlanta.

Haley is in there and he played for the Cowboys in same amount of years than Deion. Years of service isn’t an excuse.

I would say he helped tremendously. The fact one person can't win all by himself doesn't mean he didn't. He was a huge reason the team was as competitive as it was.

The 1995 team won the Super Bowl, the 1996 team lost in the Division round of the playoffs, and the 1997 team was 6-10 and didn't make the playoffs. Do you think the change was because Michael Irvin and Deion Sanders were no longer helping the team, or was it because the overall team wasn't as good?

Wow, did not realize it has been 7 years. Yeah time to add someone. Jimmy first preferably. Jason also.

All the other deserving candidates aside, Witten certainly deserves to be in

And then that same team for the most part went 10 and 6 the next year. It was all about team culture. Jason Witten was part of a toxic team culture.

And by the way, Deion also helped poison the culture. Bringing a pillow to team meetings should never be tolerated.

We're getting off subject though. I don't want to ever see Jason Witten at AT&T Stadium again. Great player, resigned with the status quo. We drafted three second round picks to pair with him. Did he help them out? Absolutely not. And then he has the nerve to stick around 4 years well past his prime. And then come back.

What did Witten ever win?

Jay Novacek ; 3× Super Bowl champion (XXVII, XXVIII, XXX); First-team All-Pro (1992); Second-team All-Pro (1991); 5× Pro Bowl (1991–1995); All-WAC (1984) ; 3× ...

Not a thing. I don't want to see anyone from the Romo era in the ring of honor. If you can't win anything you don't deserve to be in it.

Charles Haley is in both the Ring of Honor and the 49ers Hall of Fame.

I can't believe he got Eddie DeBartolo to induct him. The same guy who gave up on him.

To this day I will never understand that trade. It makes zero sense from the 49ers perspective.
