Romo for what...
Romo for what...
By that logic, any soldier in a losing battle doesn't deserve to be honored.
And you think Witten lost almost every battle? Hard to believe, since his teams won more games than they lost. Not if he loses almost every battle. And he's a key piece. Absolutely not.
It's been 7 years since Jerry has put a player in the Ring of Honor. Isn't Witten the most likely next one up there? I guess the other two candidates would be D. Ware and Deion (though Deion maybe won't get in because he only played here 5 seasons).
Novacek HC Jimmy JohnsonWhat did Witten ever win?
Jay Novacek ; 3× Super Bowl champion (XXVII, XXVIII, XXX); First-team All-Pro (1992); Second-team All-Pro (1991); 5× Pro Bowl (1991–1995); All-WAC (1984) ; 3× ...
When I say battles I mean playoff games. I see battles mean individual stats to you. Well I look at the team overall and he didn't contribute to a winning culture. He doesn't belong in the Ring of Honor. I don't ever want to see his name up there. And you think Witten lost almost every battle? Hard to believe, since his teams won more games than they lost.
2x First Team All Pro. 2x Second Team All Pro, 11 Pro Bowls, 2nd most receptions and receiving yards by a tight end in NFL history.
Only someone with bias could believe what you're saying.
When I say 'battles', I mean games. But regardless of what you consider to be battles, a tight end can only do so much by himself. He catches the balls thrown to him, blocks who he needs to block, and moves the chains. He doesn't play on defense, run the ball, throw the ball, call the plays, kick field goals, or choose team personnel. When I say battles I mean playoff games. He was one of the best in the history of the league at being a tight end, so what else do you think he should have done to drag the team to playoff wins?
You're right, he should've played like crap, so the other guys would get a chance to show off their inferior talents. Is Rico Gathers your brother or something? He should have been a leader. How many tight ends did we draft in the second round that did nothing? He and Romo had a special connection and he was not about to share it. If that meant not helping the team then so be it.
His playoff resume speaks for itself. Witten was a loser and he stuck around 3 years too long. Give someone else a chance. He was all about himself and his stats.
Jimmy's not getting in until we win another Super Bowl.
I don't like his chances, unfortunately.
It seems more likely that Stephen will put Jerry in it after he's gone.
Listening to Walker, I dont think he needs to be taking anymore shots to the head.Witten done started in MMA? Who is he fighting? Herschel?
Two playoff wins while Witten was with Dallas - wildcards against Philadelphia after 2009 season and Detroit following 2014.I would have respected him a lot more had he won more than one playoff game. And then all those pre-snap penalties. The guy was just a loser.

That argument makes no sense because Witten played on multiple teams that went 10-6 or better. And then that same team for the most part went 10 and 6 the next year. It was all about team culture. Jason Witten was part of a toxic team culture.
And by the way, Deion also helped poison the culture. Bringing a pillow to team meetings should never be tolerated.
We're getting off subject though. I don't want to ever see Jason Witten at AT&T Stadium again. Great player, resigned with the status quo. We drafted three second round picks to pair with him. Did he help them out? Absolutely not. And then he has the nerve to stick around 4 years well past his prime. And then come back.

Your argument that an individual wasn’t a positive player that made the team better if the team didn’t win it all is plain nonsense. That argument suggests one player can win it all by himself, which is wildly illogical.
By that standard Barry Sanders, Calvin Johnson, Dan Marino, Larry Fitzgerald, Tony Gonzales, Brian Urlacher, and on and on weren’t positive players for their teams.
By that standard Drew Brees didn’t benefit his teams for 8-9 years, then had one anomaly year out of his 20+ year career where he did.
