holy fail, batman.

First, Tony put up an MVP season last year. He only missed this year due to broken bones from taking hits. Anyone can break bones from taking big hits.

Second, the pats are willing to let people go, yet Brady is 38 and will be 39 before next season starts lol. Tony is years younger. So, your premise just blew apart.

I respect your opinion..

I just disagree with your assumptions.

You are trying to change what I was saying to an anti-Romo thread.

It is not.

It was merely a topic I was interested in exploring.

I always get a kick out of guys who think they can take numbers and back up their conclusions.

The only numbers that matter is championships.

At least in Dallas.

And under that assumption..

Romo is little more than another Danny White.

In fact..White had MORE wins in Division Championships than Romo has appeared in.

Wins.

Division, Conference and World Titles.

Not stats.

And Brady has 4 SB rings. He has proven he wins titles. I would play him at 50 if he still wins.

So thanx for playing along.

And thanx to everybody who offered intelligent replays.

Romo should be a June 1st cut - saves 5.3m on salary cap. The rookie cap means that we can accommodate a 1st round QB with this cap value. There's no room for sentiment or over paying for historic performances in pro sports.

lol.. yup. We can't win with him anyway, time to move on from him and save some money in the process.

I find it amusing about people who dont understand parity and the salary cap era.

I also find it amusing about people who dont understand playing under a bonehead named Jason Garrett.

Look around the NFL and you can see what The QB position costs. He's earned every penny of it.

He had one good year in this contract. And that was because he was used the right way and not because he is up their with the best QBs in the league. Still he is getting paid like one.
Now he is a injury prone QB we cant build on and cant get rid off still we must have a fallback plan every season.

If you want to talk in extrems (like you did in your post) then the better way to put it is: he did earn exactly one penny of his contract.

That deal was one of the baddest in the JJ era. And its all the fault of the FO because they manouvered themselfs into a position where they were fully dependend on Romo. They had no wiggle room in contract negotiations.

Bad bad management.

Romo's deal was one of JJones/SJones best, They got a ProBowl level QB under contract for 17m a year. That is well below the going rate.

He essentially signed a 4/68m extension that covered 2014-17. The 55m in staggered guarantees has all been paid.

He is only due 8.5m next year and 14m in 2017. You would have to be a moron to let a QB like Romo go for those prices. Plus he worked with the team on the structure to allow for the most "wiggle" room. All QBs have huge cap hits, that is the nature of the beast.

His April 1st restructure has this against the cap going forward.

2016 - $20.8 million
2017 - $24.7 million
2018 - $25.2 million
2019 - $23.7 million

It would be extremely foolish to keep pushing money into the future.

One of the "baddest"? The contract isn't even 2 years old yet. He had one season where he got MVP votes and one season where the team went 3-1 when he played but he missed 12 games. Let's wait a couple more seasons before we make a final judgment on the deal. And let's have someone smarter than you make that judgment, while we're at it.

That is why they set up the contract the way they did. His salary is only 8.5m this year, it doesn't have to be restructured. They can get 40m under the cap without re-doing Romo, Dez, Lee or OScan. They only have 900k on the Dead Money ledger next year.

This is a ridiculous post. Especially using the tunnel vision of "wins" and "rings" as the barometer of a qbs worth. Trent freaking dilfer was the qb of a championship ravens team. So by definition he is a winner. So if he was playing at this time he deserves to have a contract worth more than Romo even though his stats are vastly inferior simply because he is a "winner" Lol it's a shame so much of our fanbase is so lost that a topic like this even gets discussed. This is the kind of stuff that justifies why the rest of the league thinks cowboys fans are idiots.

Go back and look at these contracts. You have no choice to pay the QB. He's done his part. If anything be mad a Jerry Jones for not building a team around him.

The only restructuring of Romo's contract that needs to be done is to rip it up and show his sorry butt the door at VR.
