Time to trade for a RB, but who?

I'm not in disagreement but we need a healthy running back now who can play and handle the load. These pansies we have are not making me feel comfortable. Maybe I have a case of the Jerry's but these guys scare me.

Actually, as of tomorrow, if I'm not mistaken, the Cowboys are getting their top 3 back. But I can't say that I blame you for your concern. RIght now, the Cowboys would have to overspend to get someone who would be considered an upgrade. When the final cuts occur, team's with depth at the RB may be looking to dish a backup that would be an upgrade to a shore up a position that the Cowboys have depth at. The issue is right now we really don'y know if we have depth anywhere. I thought the Cowboys had depth on the offensive line but the performance last night suggest otherwise. Corner is another place we could possibly have depth, but like I said before, right now the Cowboys would probably has to pair a good corner with a draft pick to bring someone in whereas if they wait until the final cut down they could probably get someone for a straight up player for player trade.

Just a thought. I was watching the Cowboys game again and was really impressed with Branden Oliver. The Cowboys are unlikely to trade for a marquee name like Matt Forte. However, there is a better chance that they would replace Dunbar with a player who is similar to Branden Oliver. He didn't have an overly impressive stats last year but (160 carries for 582 yards and 3 TD's, 36 catches for 271 yards and 1 TD) looked impressive during against Cowboys (10 carries for 53 yards and 1 TD). He displayed power and a compact frame. One would think he would do even better behind our line. He is more durable than Dunbar and we need someone else who can carry the load. If we are going to have a true running back by committee, we need to upgrade the talent.

From the reports I have read, Dunbar has impressed more than anyone in training camp as a RB. The issue many people our having, I think, is that they ignore the possibility that Dunbar is a better player now then what he was last year. The same could be said of Randle and McFadden.

Having said that, I will say I liked what I saw from Oliver last night. If the top 3 fall flat in the next three preseason games, I wouldn't mind seeing the Cowbys make a move closer to the final cut down.

My zone sig for years was "Run the ball and play defense" . I might go back to it. For years we couldn't do either. I think our d will be better but as of right now Clutts is the starting tailback. These other jokers need to get ready. We have some tough nasty defenses on the schedule.

I hear that Dunbar has looked good but the biggest problem with him is that he always gets injured due to his slight frame. I would upgrade his spot in a second if I could.

The run game is critical, but it does not have to be as successful as it was in 2014 for the Cowboys to be as dominant. If the Cowboys can get 2/3 the production from last year with a by committee approach, I think the Cowboys could still be very successful in 2015. Trouble is, I think...I don't know.

Oliver looked good.
You may want to check that durability claim though. I think he's had several issues.

At this point, we aren't even sure what an upgrade looks like. Let's see the man play, and then debate.

Dunbar got hurt once, and I think he's bigger than Oliver.

He missed two games last year but played in 14. How many games has Dunbar legitimately played in?

There really is no reason to be in any type of rush at this point in the season. I get it, though. Like me, it's the one concern you have on a team that look's prime to contend and not just for the playoffs, but an actual deep run. This truly is the best roster I've seen in a Cowboys uniform since the mid-90's. So I completely understand why you are in a hurry to see the running back position addressed. But right now, the smart move truly is no move. During the final cuts, team's that have a need where we have depth will be looking to make a deal to avoid waiting in line on the waiver wire. So, if the coaches and brass don't like what they see in the next 3 games, you can be sure they'll make move. It might not be the high profile move everyone wants, but the Cowboys don't need a name...they need a running back who knows how to run in the zone blocking scheme. If they can find that, you can bet they will find success this year...if they don't already have that guy on the roster.

I'm on record as liking Oliver.
Just pointing out that has missed time in his 3.6 ypc career

He missed the first two games. Was he with the team at that point or was he injured. Still played 14 strait games. Dunbar (last year) had 3.4 yards a carry behind THE BEST OFFENSIVE LINE while the Chargers had a whole bunch of injured lineman last year. Dunbar has missed 10 games in his three seasons.

I'd take either Crowell or West from Cleveland if cut or in a trade. I can't blame either one of them for being disinterested this summer for the Browns their a 24 hr circus
