Time to trade for a RB, but who?

I read on seahawk sites that they may indeed keep 4 rbs.

Of course they are going to say that. Creates trade value. Have you ever read on any teams site where they say "hey, we are going to cut this guy"?

Rawls will probably be the odd man out.

After one pre-season game in which none of our projected rb's played, I find this thread highly amusing.

At this point I don't think they sign anyone other than camp fodder type like Gus is
If the top 3 get hurt again that could change but seems pretty obvious to me that the staff is comfortable with ours right now

Exactly, now is just not the time to be trading. Couple more weeks and teams will take anything rather than cut a player.

I think Michael goes. They can keep Rawls for 4 cheap years vs. 2 for Christine.

The fumbles are a problem and I don't know how he is in pass protection, but the dude can run and is a load to bring down. We've had players with personality disorders in the past and I think we can manage whatever he has (if he does have something).

Anyone know how he is in st?

Agreed. And it's not like Williams does not have major off field and on field issues of his own.

My thing with him as a back is that he is pretty strickly a runner. He is one dimensional in that he isnt any kind of receiving back and isnt good in pass pro. To me he is a guy you keep in your back pocket as a #3 HB because he is a guy that can run teams ragged any given game. But as far as our situation I think we need someone more rounded.

Saying that, Brown is a legit threat to post a 130 yards any given game

Yes, Karlos Williams. Not only mediocre career production at FSU but connected to domestic abuse (pregnant girlfriend) and drug deal robbery. Kid is a top notch athlete but not instinctive, either as a safety (his original position) or as a runner (poor balance and vision). At one point he was projected to FB at pro level. He is a physical straight line guy.

Sounds like an upgrade to Dunbar. No way Dunbar can put up 130 in any given game. Can be change up rusher to Randle and McFadden as well as fill in case of injury. Will push the 2 more than Dunbar as well.

I don't think he'd cost too much in a trade. Maybe a fourth rounder? He's a SOLID vet that can really catch well out of the backfield too. Wants an extension but probably wouldn't get it from JJ. Bottom line:
the Bears are going NO where and he could run wild behind this line. Helluva good guy too. Here's an
article from a few months ago on him and the possibility Dallas could trade for him:

He's owed 8 mil this season and we could do it. Thoughts?

What is the buzz from Chicago,,are there rumors they want to get rid of him, does he want to leave, or want an extension. He would not get over 4 mil here, or Murray would still be here.

Is there anything in the news about the Bears not wanting to pay the 8 mil. I have not heard anything one way or the other.

Again, management and coaches want to see what McFadden has 1st along with Randle and Dunbar. Their top 3. If one of those has a season ending injury, then yes they'll try the trade route. (my guess)

Somehow I don't think a player under 30 that averaged nearly 1,800 yards from scrimmage over the past 3 seasons is going to be traded for a 4th round pick.

I was just spit balling. SO it might take a third? Hey, he's almost 30 and has no future there. They have some good young RB's and are in full rebuilding mode. Their young WR Kevin White from WVU is out for at least six games because of shin surgery. They'd get Forte off the books, snag a decent draft pick and go cheap with the kids. They'd probably ask for Leary plus a pick as their Oline needs work but I'd hope we wouldn't do that.

Isn't Coakley still around?

We have to hang on till roster cuts start. The cost will go down on some of these guys. Mean time, McFadden is set to go and if he has the heart, he has the ability. Give him a chance.
