Not likely at all, but seasons often evolve and change.

Let's just focus on the division first. That is truly winnable.

There have been a lot of mediocre teams winning Super Bowls. We have a top notch offense and a bad defense. If the offense remains and the defense moves up to middle of the pack, why not?

And let's say not even winning the Super Bowl...but some pretty mediocre teams have made it to the Super Bowl.

If we stay healthy at the key spots....QB, OL and get some better DL play, there is no reason we can't win the division.

Like whom?

How are you defining mediocre?

Are there any teams whose defense ranked DEAD LAST in the NFL the previous year who won the Super Bowl?

well someone who passed football 101 would realize both of those Giants teams had defenses....

as regards the packers they got really lucky; most of their defensive injuries healed just before the playoffs. Someone who had bothered to look would have realized that...

Did the packers not have double-digit players on IR?? 16 to be exact. There is no healing and returning from IR that means your season is done. Someone with a brain would have realized that. And that Giants defense that you speak of didn't do a damn thing until the playoffs. During the regular season they were getting torched on the regular. Jeez dude youre just as annoying here as you are on the Ranch.

Nah I don't believe so.

Their offense might be Superbowl caliber, possibly, but their defense isn't going to be even close to that level.

most often the teams get hot at the right time, but a sometimes, its the teams getting back their injured players towards the end of the season.....

Unless the defense can survive losing Ware and Less and finding adequate replacements I dont see it.

Just reaching the playoffs will be difficult, but at least theres a chance to do that in the NFC East.

Define world beater? And how many Super Bowl teams were world beaters, whatever that means?
Second, so what if they weren't favored to beat the Steelers in the Super Bowl. That doesn't make them the worst team to ever play in the Super Bowl, certainly not worse than the Cowboys.
And just because no one has you going to the Super Bowl doesn't mean you're not a Super Bowl contender.

The 2009 team was 11-5 and then 10-6 their Super Bowl year. They weren't coming off three consecutive seasons of mediocrity, like the Cowboys.

The 2010 team was 2nd in overall defense and 10th in overall offense.
The 2010 team never lost a game by more than four points and never trailed by more than seven.
The 2010 team was ranked 9th in yards per game, tenth in total points, & fifth in passing yards
The 2010 team was ranked fifth in yards allowed and finished second in least amount of points allowed.

And, of course, that team had Aaron Rodgers, one fo the two three quarterbacks in the league at that time and now.

As for the 2007 Giants, they were 14th in overall offense and 17th in overall defense (and they beat the Cowboys, and I know you're not saying this Cowboys team could beat the 2007 Cowboys team).
As for the 2011 Giants, they were 9th in overall offense and 25th in overall defense.

Meanwhile ...

The 2013 Cowboys were 16th in overall offense and DEAD LAST in overall defense.

No, those teams that went to the Super Bowl were SUPERIOR to the Cowboys team we've assembled between last year and this year.

Don't play dumb, you know what i mean by world beaters. Teams that even from the beginning of the season its known how good they are and are heavily favored to play in a superbowl. Every year there are powerhouse teams that everybody knows is gonna make serious noise. Teams that most likely are gonna buzzsaw your team when you run into them. So yeah again the Giants and Packers and even the Ravens were no world beaters. Each of them barely squeezing into the playoffs. This years Cowboys team is better than all 3 of those other teams in my opinion the year they won superbowls. And since you want to zero in on the Packers lets talk about how much of an inconsistent team they were that year. They had two games where they scored in SINGLE DIGITS. And Seven games where they didn't even break 20 points with their "one of the top three qb at that time" . The defense was their only claim to fame that year, only allowing 30 points once; against the Patriots. So again like I said world beaters by no means and I'm not gonna sit there and say that team would beat this years Cowboys squad. Or any of the aforementioned teams. So again I will say, YES WE HAVE A SHOT AT A SB RUN.

Post a pic of you putting your money down on this years Cowboys making a Super Bowl run. You seem to be very confident that they can, so in order to back up your confidence, let's see you put down some cash.

Exactly...hmm, maybe like Spencer?

Or Melton getting closer to 100%?

maybe...... but I think our problems are deeper than those two.
melton for hatcher is even trade.

I like McClain, he is improvement, but he is not world beater. I like Lawrance, but he is a rookie and how much can you expect. I like Crawford, but we haven't seen him in action. all we have is hope and his college tapes. he could be a flop for all we know. we also have no idea how spencer will fair as a DE.

so there is definitely question marks. and no one is going into the season saying our DL is our strength...unlike the giants, who everyone said, that the DL was their strength and when they won their two superbowls, the offense got hot and their injured D-Linemen came back from injuries.

our strength is at OL and WR right now.

so IMO we will be improved....no doubt....but will we be top 10? probably not....

getting to mid 20s is a great feat and step in the right direction, would spell couple of extra wins.....

Why do posters get all upset when someone asks them to clarify a term?
No, I don't know what you mean by world beaters, that's why I asked?
Does that mean you're blowing everyone out by three touchdowns? What Super Bowl winning team does that apply to?

Teams that even from the beginning of the season its known how good they are and are heavily favored to play in a superbowl. Every year there are powerhouse teams that everybody knows is gonna make serious noise. Teams that most likely are gonna buzzsaw your team when you run into them. So yeah again the Giants and Packers and even the Ravens were no world beaters. Each of them barely squeezing into the playoffs.

Uh, all teams that enter the playoffs as wildcard teams barely squeeze into the playoffs.
So that tells us what exactly?
Second, do you know how often pre-season Super Bowl predictions fail? That tells us absolutely nothing.

This years Cowboys team is better than all 3 of those other teams in my opinion the year they won superbowls.

Bahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!
(As he picks himself up off the floor.)
Bahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!
(As he again picks himself up off the floor.)

Naive imaginations. You gotta love 'em. :)

And since you want to zero in on the Packers lets talk about how much of an inconsistent team they were that year.

Uh, actually, YOU brought up the Packers first.

They had two games where they scored in SINGLE DIGITS.

So?
The 1992 Cowboys scored single digits in one game.
And you also failed to mention that the one game where they scored single digits was a shutout, 9-0 against the Jets.
That Packers team also scored over 24 points in 9 games that season.

And Seven games where they didn't even break 20 points with their "one of the top three qb at that time".

You do know that the 1993 Cowboys team (I assume you'd call them world beaters) scored less than 20 points in SEVEN games that season.

LOL!

The 2010 Packers Super Bowl team couldn't beat this year's Cowboys team.

Bahahahahahahahahaha!!!

Only in the pre-season where every team has a chance to win the Super Bowl do you get this kind of delusion.

The 2010 Packers Super Bowl team couldn't beat this year's Cowboys team, a Cowboys team that has no playmakers, was worst in the NFL last year and couldn't stop a runny nose with tissue stuffed in each nostril.

Bahahahahahahahahahahahahha!!!

Thanks for the pre-season humor. :)

My $0.02 on that 2010 Packer team is that their injuries actually made them better. The loss of Jermichael Finley to IR forced them to go 4 much of the time. Their WRs that season were:
  • Greg Jennings (Still a 1000 yard season and considered top 10 at the time)
  • Donald Driver (former 1000 yard reciever who was started to wane but still good)
  • James Jones -- Excellent 3rd WR who has scored 24 TDs over the last three years
  • Jordy Nelson -- at the time their #4 WR but was starting to emerge as a top notch WR
Teams hadn't seen that much 4 WRs since the days of the run and shoot and I think it helped them -- especially considered Aaron Rogers was throwing them the ball.

it is fun watching those Pollyanna's get worked by reality and facts. I do enjoy it. Only a true homer thinks this Boys team is any threat to win a SB. Those with knowledge and experience and the ability to actually see the way things actually are laugh at the idea.

Saying a team has a chance of making a superbowl run doesn't mean they are gonna win it. All the good teams have a shot at the SB but there can only be 1 winner. Did I say for certain we were gonna win it? No. Do I think we have a chance? Yes. As do a number of other teams. Don't try to bait me into your stupidity troll.
