When the Giants won their Super Bowl a few years back after squeaking in, it was because the defense got hot and dominated the line of scrimmage. If everything panned out...Melton is healthy and returns to form, Spencer comes back mid season and is healthy, Crawford justifies the faith that many of the team members and coaches have in him, McClain shows he is a better fit in the 4-3 than the 3-4 and has a Hatcher like year, Lawrence proves to be a terror as a situational pass rusher and Selvie builds on last year's performance....they why not? Yes, it is asking for a lot of positive....but the Giants got one hell of a lot of positive that year. Everyone assumed they were going to be in the hunt for several years, but they never regained the magic that they had that year.
Now add in Carr playing up to his contract, Claiborne rebounding from an off second year, Carter finally "getting it", Holloman and Wilbur making big jumps and Wilcox develops into the safety the Cowboys think he can be. It might take catching lightning in a bottle, but it is possible if not probable.
Why can't we have a year when we go relatively injury free and have guys step up? It happens other places. It's happened for Dallas in the past.
