No matter how one changes an approach that doesn't sit well with an observer from the start, the lesson to learn is this:

There's just one lesson learned here: There's no right way to do the wrong thing. NO way that emotional based direction with a predetermined agenda just doesn't replace statistical relevance approached in more than a dozen ways that arrive at supportive conclusions beyond just emotion and name calling.

There has yet to be an ounce of proof presented that Tony Romo is NOT ready to pick up the reigns going into this very season!!

It is you that is blind, because right now we are doing exactly what JJ did in the early 90's. We are building a dominant OL that will be good for ANY QB, whether it's Romo or a new QB. We should be able to field a solid running attack and we have a multitude of weapons in the passing game.

We are building a speedy 4-3 defense that can attack in waves on the DL. Exactly like JJ did. I expect the DL rotation to get better over the next couple years as we focus on that.

It might not all pan out this year, but I think we are closer to have a very good team than we are to having a very bad team.

I'm blind. LOL!

Let's see, now. Jimmy Johnson first put a philosophy in place that we were going to be a speedy team on defense and a smash-mouth team on offense.
Jimmy Johnson came in and coached a 1-15 team, a 7-9 team, a 11-5 team and a 13-3 team that ultimately won the Super Bowl.
Jason Garrett, however, has given us a 5-3 team, an 8-8 team, an 8-8 team, an 8-8 team each year falling outside of the playoffs.

And you say I'm blind? LOL!

Jimmy Johnson's defense got progressively better during his first four years.
Jason Garrett's defense has gotten progressively worse during his first four years.

And you say I'm blind? LOL!

Jimmy Johnson drafted a young quarterback and groomed him for his offensive system.
Jason Garrett had his quarterback, who he DIDN'T protect with a running game, a quarterback who is a year older, near the down slide and is recovering from a back injury.

And you say I'm blind? LOL!

Jimmy Johnson hired young offensive and defensive coordinators, ones who could support his type football.
Jason Garrett has his assistants hand-picked for him, hires relics and is dealing with a staff in transition.

And you say I'm blind? LOL!

Jimmy Johnson, even with Troy Aikman, features a durable Emmitt Smith and sprinkles in a potent passing game.
Jason Garrett doesn't feature a less-than-durable DeMarco Murray and is relying on low-round, free-agent fodder at running back.

And you say I'm blind? LOL!

Jimmy Johnson rebuffed Jerry Jones as long as he could then orchestrated his way out of Dallas. The Cowboys win a Super Bowl on the talent Jimmy collected, meanwhile ...
Jerry Johnson has one playoff win in 20 years, remains the man pulling the strings and despite the futility, fans think things are going to get better?

And you say I'm blind? LOL!

Bahahahahahahahahahaha!

I'm sorry to say that Jimmy Johnson didn't reinvent the football.

That's true, no matter one tries to huff and puff and blow the old house down...know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away...when the dealing's done.

And then pooof, Miami was a winner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who knows with this team. For the last half decade or so all I've heard is how much "talent" this team has.

Individually, I think we have a lot of talented players but of course football is a game where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

If Murrary and Romo can stay healthy, then I think this team has enough offense to at least make the playoffs. Whether or not the talent is utilized properly is a completely different story.

Absolutely.

To me,,

this team's failures have been on the players.

Not the coaches..

Garrett,,then Phillips then Parcells.

Each of them has failed or succeeded..

depending on what the expectations were.

And the goal has always been too ambitious..

in Dallas it's a SB or we have failed.

In Dallas we have had to reduce expectations now to making the playoffs or we fail..

..or winning a SINGLE playoff game or we have failed.

So given all the coaching and player FA's and assistants like Payton and others leaving for greener pastures..

it's amazing that the season ticket holders haven't burned their tickets out in front of the stadium in protest.

I blame the players for not digging down and doing the right things to win like they should have.

Not the owner..not the HC and not media or whatever.

Just not enough want and too much take the money and run players on this team.

Mercenaries..plain and simple.

You don't win with hired guns.

I'm sorry. Did someone say Jimmy Johnson reinvented football?
Jimmy Johnson is our reference because he was the Cowboys coach, the one whom they enjoyed the most success under while paired with Jerry Jones.

That's true, no matter one tries to huff and puff and blow the old house down...know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away...when the dealing's done.

Huh?

And then pooof, Miami was a winner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, Miami got to the playoffs with Johnson as a head coach. And their defense got better.

And the fact that Jimmy Johnson didn't take Miami to a Super Bowl doesn't negate what he did with Dallas.

I don't even know what this means. I guess that's a good thing. :)

Exactly.

If it was just Jimmy, then it would have been easily repeated in Miami.

And don't forget that JJ had many more resources than Garrett has had as far as free agency and much more draft ammo.

The thing in this rebuilding is that we never did the all out start over. Dallas was willing to go winless in order to give themselves the ability to accelerate the rebuilding process. I personally would have liked to see us cut all the older vets that weren't earning their pay but with the reality of the salary cap it just isn't as easy doing that.

We need to commit to sticking with it. Seattle had two bad years with Mora, then two 7-9 seasons under Carroll before breaking through with an 11-5 and then 13-3 season. It doesn't happen overnight.

Exactly.

If it was just Jimmy, then it would have been easily repeated in Miami.

It was Jimmy and Jerry.
But with Jimmy, Jerry was just a man paying the players. He was a glorified finance man.
But without Jimmy, Jerry has done squat. And has ONLY ONE PLAYOFF WIN TO SHOW FOR 20 YEARS!!!
Meanwhile, Jimmy rebuilt the Dolphins defense and had them in the playoffs. He did more on his own without Jerry than what Jerry has done on his own without Jimmy.

And don't forget that JJ had many more resources than Garrett has had as far as free agency and much more draft ammo.

Wrong. Free agency is better than it was in Jimmy's day.
Second, Jimmy CREATED HIS OWN draft ammo.

How many years have we been rebuilding since our last Super Bowl?

We need to commit to sticking with it. Seattle had two bad years with Mora, then two 7-9 seasons under Carroll before breaking through with an 11-5 and then 13-3 season. It doesn't happen overnight.

But we're far past overnight. We've been around the sun and back 20 times. LOL! :)

CowboysZone ULTIMATE Fan
A realist...a FAN....a hope I'm wrong fan.

Well, I have been a fan of the Dallas Cowboys since they came into existence.

So, tell us Mr. Realist. What exactly is wrong the Dallas Cowboys that you really understand. And, don't give me the garbage that it's the front office.

It's funny to me that posters that proclaim this "realist" crap would not know real if it bit them in the ***. If you are so "real" about things and don't like the "real" stuff going on with the Cowboys, why are you still following them?

A "real" FAN, like I and others are, stick with the team good or bad. It's like a marriage....the wife pisses you off sometimes and you piss her off sometime, but, neither of you degrade each other in times of trouble, you stand beside you mate...in this case, your team.

But you "realists" won't have any of that! You dog the team, you know how bad it is, you berate the team, talk bad about any and everything, yet you won't divorce the team because you are "real"?

Bull**** on that! If I had as much as I could stand with this team, I would go find another team. I would divorce this team and go be "real" with another team that never will let you down!

Good luck, Mr. Realist. :D

Funny how you state that a 'real fan' should 'stick with the team good or bad' and then berate another fan for doing just that. Hypocritical much?

If YOU can't stand any opinion different from your own, why don't YOU go and find a forum where it's controlled so only the shiny, happy thoughts are permitted?

Practice what YOU preach for others.
