The numbers don't lie.

Since 2011, the Cowboys are 16-1 against sub .500 teams and 4-19 against teams .500 or better.

There's no way around that inconvenient truth.

So your point is that "laughingstock" now means ".500 Team for the last couple of years".

I didn't coin the term, and personally I wouldn't use it.

What I said was that given how inept the defense has looked on the national stage, I can see how some people would use it.

We clear now?

And what about those numbers I clearly gave you, are you going to gloss over them and pretend like they don't exist too?

Clearly a team that is at the top as far as money earned, visibility, press, owner talking about winning, and all the things that shine the bright lights of this game on this team, going out and giving up the yards, first downs, scores and such makes this team the laughing stock of the league.

The other guys you mention all stink and most people expect them to.

Dallas always is watched for some reason as a team on the cusp of greatness.

Jerry controls the reins of that greatness, and he tends to think it is okay to make decisions that change greatness into hysterical laughter.

Amazing people get bent over the laughing stock comment after what amounted to not even the biggest kid on the play ground making Dallas lick the flag pole on a freezing day.

When Jerry-atric makes claims and then the team goes out and throws down a game like a crappy high school team, any derogatory statement about Dallas fits.

Hiring a new coach will fix nothing as long as Jerra's running things.

Why? It's not like Jerry hasn't done it before and had success doing so. A good, strong head coach would make all the difference. It is when you combine Jerry with a horrible head coach, as we are doing today, that things go haywire.

A good, strong head coach would make all the difference. Problem is, none of them would be willing to work for Jerry.

Parcells left us a core to compete with. It wasn't perfect, but it was light years better than what we got with the Jones twins before him. We needed to supplement that core and continue giving the coaching staff real authority. Then it's just a matter of some luck.

We squandered that opportunity.

Now I think we're at a point where we need to start over. I really do. Take a step back and being to rebuild under hopefully new leadership. Not that I think guys like Romo and Ware and Witten don't have some good years left but they're aging, the roster is littered with holes and the salary cap is a mess. We simply can't provide them the supporting cast they need to compete for a title.

The time is right for a true rebuild. Get the salary cap back in order, whatever it takes, and begin again with young talent. I don't care about losing while we do. We're already losers.

There is absolutely no chance the GM will do this or even be advised to do this by his VP of Personnel. It would require real foresight and a plan for the future. They'd rather sell out the future as long as Romo has a throw left in his arm.

I've never said the Cowboys aren't a .500 team over the last couple of years. What I've said is that calling a team with a winning record a "laughingstock" is ridiculously over the top.

BTW, I looked for the picture but didn't find it. In 1997 I was in Bosnia in the Army. One of the units in our basecamp was K Troop, 2nd ACR who had marked all their vehicles with some "K" name. They had an uparmored Hummer with a 50 Cal mount painted with "Kornholio" and I have a funny picture of it somewhere standing next to it in the same pose as your signature pic. Its a lot funnier than the text description, I'll find it and post it one day.

Sounds good. I look forward to checking it out.

And thank you very much for your service to our country.

Jerry will never do this but it should be a consideration.

I wouldn't do that as long as Romo has a few years left which he should have about 5-7 years left. That's a decent bit of time. I'm not going to get into it all as I don't have time and I don't want to derail the thread. But what you said should be an option on the table along with a few other things.

No doubt. And Jerry hired a defensive coordinator as his head coach because it allowed him to keep his 3-4 defense that Parcells took the time to build and to begin his Garrett = Landry project. Then he followed that up by continuing with his pet project when all indicators showed even then that it wasn't coming true.

Now I think we're at a point where we need to start over. I really do. Take a step back and being to rebuild under hopefully new leadership. Jones himself stated almost two years ago that he felt "the window closing". Well, guess what? It's closed!

I would sign only low-priced contracts for the next few years until they get the cap in order.

Approach Dan Bailey and Dwayne Harris about deals. If they can be done frugally, great. If not, this team can lose without them as easily as they can with them.

But I do not give out any more big money deals, not even to Bryant. I watch Spencer, Hatcher, Carter, and anyone else wanting a big deal ride off for greener pastures while I get my own house in order for the future.

The band-aids on gaping wounds approach hasn't worked, and it won't.

seriously? live in the present with those teams like with ours:

laughing stock:

houston 2-11 (11 game losing streak)
jacksonville 4-9 (beat the texans)
oakland 4-9
browns 4-9
vikings 3-9-1

and they are all last in their respective divisons.

compared to:

cowboys 7-6

i'm not defending the boys, but to say we are the laughingstock is a stretch

Hey, that looks like a list of the teams we beat. Lol

Jerry IS the laughingstock. People think he's ridiculous, clueless & he is.

He's the face of the team.

He's sitting there giving out interviews saying he's doing such a great job & that he's going to love doing this till he's 90.

No wonder people laugh. It's nuts!

The only person who understands the context of my "laughingstock" comment without digging to disprove it.

I would not say complete laughing stock. But certainly a contender. I think Oakland has that title right now. But we are definitely a threat to their title.

sadly the only title we are going to be a threat to....

I hang my hat on the fact that if we win the next 3 we are in the playoffs. Thats what fans do.

This defense it terrible..... awful.... disgusting. They seem so bad I dont really know where to point.

What do the pessimistic fans do?
We don't go to games, we purchase nothing, we try to make things so negative that Jerry is forced to make MAJOR changes. And until we come together collectively and blast Jerry out, make it so he can't show himself anywhere in the US without being trashed, then maybe complete change will come. And we try to make the homers see that Landry would not approve of this. This is not what these guys created decades ago. We are no longer a proud franchise anymore. We are a bunch of people who think that making the playoffs is our Super Bowl. Beating a sorry giants team followed by a sorry Raider team means we are great again. I wish the homers would give up on this team, not leave the team, but give up on protecting this team and this franchise. I myself am a fan for life, but my team is a pathetic POC. And all I want, all any of us want is to win.

Is that too much to ask? We just want to win. Stop putting a band-aids on tumors. Stop plugging in holes every year, just start over. Jones did the same thing with Aikman, just kept plugging in here, plugging in there. All we want to do is win, and when we don't win, we are upset. Is that okay with the homers?
