What is there to hang your hat on? Nothing has changed. Same team it's been for the past X amount of years.

This is not sarcasm, it's an actual question.

How can anyone really believe that this team is capable of ever doing anything. We constantly embarrass ourselves and are constantly the laughingstock of the league.

The worst part is there is no easy fix for any of the litany of issues.

I feel like things might get better if everyone would stop constantly buying the false hope and just accept who this team is. It might make trying to make the drastic changes to fix it a little easier than always believing we might have a shot only to ALWAYS be let down.

Thoughts?

I said from day 1 that this team would never win a division title with Garrett as Head Coach...................That was almost 4 years ago..................I have yet to be proven wrong.

This team when no one gives them a chance surprises people. They have been buried today by everyone. I still see them winning the next two games. The Philly game is 50/50 they can still do it. However they are not going to go any further even if they get into the playoffs. 1 and done, if this horrendous defense keeps playing like this.

Those teams AREN'T AMERICA'S TEAM! And we ARE the laughingstock because the rest of those teams don't always point at themselves every an say "look at me" only to embarrass themselves year in and year out.

When did the Cowboys point at themselves and say look at me? I think it's been quite the opposite. We talk about the process and all three phases, about getting better by stacking good practices on top of good practices and taking it one day at a time. Obviously you are not on board with the process and the process is about doing things well in all area's including the offense , defense and the kicking game. What your seeing is the defense not holding up it's part in the process. We need to become a better football team but to do that we need good football players and that's a process. Fixing the defense is going to be a process, were going to look at the tape and try to get better and improve as a football team...relax it's a process. The only question is HOW LONG THAT PROCESS WILL FRIGGIN TAKE. They don't mention that do they?

You're exactly right. We do win games when everyone counts us out.

Then go on to cap the bed the following weeks after everyone starts to think they can build off it and start to contend, showing no belief that they can sustain winning and handle even the meagerest amount of success.

The only consistent with this entire core is inconsistency.

Jerry is the epitome of look at me.

We get every team's A game, and have every success or failure blown to bits by the media.

And that's exactly how Jerry wants it. Not very conducive to winning. Winning is very important to Jerry, but not as much as money and fame.

With today's NFL you never know who will win, but we have seen nothing from this group that makes anyone think they can sustain any form of winning.

I’m a “homer” - which on this web site means I’m working today instead of standing on a bridge preparing to jump. What I “hang my hat on” is that this team with all its problems and injuries will still win the Division.

Since the salary cap was instituted about 95% of NFL teams are within a whisker of a .500 record – up or down. The only way to get significantly above that is to 1) build through multiple drafts, 2) avoid injuries and 3) catch some breaks. The Cowboys are doing #1 and three drafts into building a very good base. Injuries have killed them this year so there is no chance of them being a really good team while they play Defensive Lineman who are street free agents and have small school rookies in key secondary roles. On top of that every team in the NFL is going to have a couple of games that are a disaster – and last night was a major one.

So if you think a 7-6 team is a “laughingstock”, I disagree. If you think you are going to see a Hall of Fame TE drop easy passes every week, I disagree. If you think the Cowboys are going to play every year with DTs and Safeties they found on Craigslist can be easily exploited, I disagree.

Don't talk sense around here. ever.

If we can have any resemblance of a defense, we will win out. That is all we need.

"But, but 7-6 and still in control of their own destiny!"

Yeah...just like the past two seasons when they didn't make the playoffs.

You know what's most disheartening? Whether Jerry wants to admit it or not, this is the year. This is it. If this team--this core of players--is going to make a playoff run, this had to be the year. Next year, the salary cap will mandate the jettison of many players, some big names, and there will be no money to replace them. The year after that, Romo is knocking on the door of his late 30s. How many quarterbacks have continued to play at a high level over the age 35? A few...but not many.

This is the year. It's now or never.

This is the problem, we're trying to win now while rebuilding both lines and the defense all at the same time. This is why firing rob was such a huge mistake. We don't have enough time to rebuild the defense for a 43. Romo has maybe 2 good years left, and we simply have too many holes to fill to be successssful in that time frame

How anyone thinks this team can win 3 games in a row is beyond me, I fully expect this team to emblode and drop all 3 games.

Jerry will never do this but it should be a consideration.

I wouldn't do that as long as Romo has a few years left which he should have about 5-7 years left. That's a decent bit of time. I'm not going to get into it all as I don't have time and I don't want to derail the thread. But what you said should be an option on the table along with a few other things.

5-7 years is pretty optimistic. I know his stats are very good this year, but you can't objectively watch these games and say that he hasn't dropped off a little bit. He's still top 10 and still very good, but I imo he's got maybe 3 more years before he really drops off. IMO

I agree with most of this but I really think there is an easy fix. Just hire a good head coach.

Yes!!!!! Such a simple solution. There are way too many examples of one year turnarounds while we have Garrett desperately trying to get on the job training and sucking at it. Jerry is wasting time while the clock is ticking on our franchise QB.

Yes we have. We have had some games where we really performed well. First Philly game comes to mind.

Foles first start in a new system. He was injured and the hapless Barkely closed it out. That is by far the outlier in the season performance to date.

7-6. The wins were against The New York Giants (twice), St. Louis Rams , Washington Commanders, Philadelphia Eagles ( when they were just 3-3), Minnesota Vikings & Oakland Raiders. The Cowboys aren't a good team. We just beat the bad ones. I wonder what our record would be in the NFC West?

I'm going to say that our division record would be 0-6. Lose two to SF, SEA, and ARZ.
