Yes we have. We have had some games where we really performed well. First Philly game comes to mind.

Go back and watch that game, Foles could not hit the side of a barn guys were wide open all day long. Now have we played better at times? yea but only against really really bad teams. Im sorry when your D is historically bad then you just have nothing to say

We also played solid defense against McCoy. We just need average defensive play and we will be fine.

Could not have said it any better.

The haters and crybabies can continue to whine ........ I will be watching my boys next week expecting a win.

Sadly I have come to the point that I expect losses. I am a fan for life and would give up NFL football altogether rather than root for another team, but I have come to the point that I expect this team to lose. Watching Jerry flounder as a GM and complete idiot coaches like Garrett and Wade has completely ruined the Dallas Cowboys I grew up with and made me bitter. I am not a hater or a whiner, just a realist who is EXTREMELY disappointed in my team.

5-7 years is pretty optimistic. I know his stats are very good this year, but you can't objectively watch these games and say that he hasn't dropped off a little bit. He's still top 10 and still very good, but I imo he's got maybe 3 more years before he really drops off. IMO

I think 7 is optimistic. That puts him at 40. While he's not a runner, has good mechanics and doesn't need a gun to play with that does stretch the envelope some. I'm not going to look up the over 40 QBs who were successful but I know it's not a lot.

I think 5 is very realistic though but certainly not for certain. He's got to have a better team around him or it won't matter.

BTW, only 14 QBs have ever won at least 8 games with 13-3 the best record at age 38, 12-4 at age 40 and 11-5 at age 39. Elway, Favre, Warren, Montana, and Morton to name a few.

If you think you are going to see a Hall of Fame TE drop easy passes every week, I disagree. If you think the Cowboys are going to play every year with DTs and Safeties they found on Craigslist can be easily exploited, I disagree.

But that's just it...every year we have a fresh set of issues:
  • From late 90's into the new millennia we had no quarterback...and will be in a similar situation soon
  • For this span of three years and another span of five...we we have a horrible coach
  • For 10 years running we have the worst safeties in the league
  • Another year or two key undersized linebackers can't stay healthy
  • We get bit in the butt with 3 or 4 old guys having wheels fall off

It was always be something because we ALWAYS HAVE PHARAOH JERRY JONES to crush everything into powder.

Yes!!!!! Such a simple solution. There are way too many examples of one year turnarounds while we have Garrett desperately trying to get on the job training and sucking at it. Jerry is wasting time while the clock is ticking on our franchise QB.

Turnarounds are not that common in NFL history although they have become more common of late. Most of them don't include a new coach although some do and some include the merging of teams like in 1929 (like that matters). There have been big turnarounds with first year HCs (or interims). 2012 Colts, 2013 Chiefs and Eagles and possibly Bears. The Harbaugh brothers, 75 colts, and 63 Raiders can be added. There are some one year turnarounds that didn't work out well in the long run as well. Some coaches reaped what others had sewn. Parcells did it here and the Jets.

Most of the time it takes awhile if at all.

I do know one thing..............it doesnt take almost 4 freaking years to break 500 if you know what the hell you are doing.

You got to be some type of scrub coach to be in today's NFL almost 4 seasons and you cant break 500.

Thought 1 is how is 8-8 a laughingstock?
Please go follow the Commanders.
They like logical folks like you.

This team is mediocre.
It is has been battered by injuries a couple years in a row and fought and clawed to .500.

We can argue about how smart that is.
But there are 8 games a year where the other team darn friggin sure isn't laughing.

We've been mediocre or bad for almost 18 years now...

here is a nice list of turnaround teams...not saying they all had new coaches.
I will say this: if a team has an above average GM, head coach, and QB...then a fast turnaround is not only possible, its probable. But Dallas is below average with two of the three mentioned above.

Clearly a team that is at the top as far as money earned, visibility, press, owner talking about winning, and all the things that shine the bright lights of this game on this team, going out and giving up the yards, first downs, scores and such makes this team the laughing stock of the league.

The other guys you mention all stink and most people expect them to.

Dallas always is watched for some reason as a team on the cusp of greatness.

This is 100% dead on the money and exactly why we are a laughing stock of the league. You cannot possibly compare us to the Rams or Jaguars. Nobody cares about them. Everybody wants to see Dallas fail.

And when we do fail, and get embarrassed on national TV, especially after our idiot owner and his idiot son spout off about secret sauce and God knows what else, the rest of the football world laugh at us.

Such a prolonged period of mediocrity takes a rare combination of lackluster coaching and piss poor personnel decisions.

The problem is that we are the most hated franchise in all of professional sports and getting our arse kicked will bring in just as high ratings as us winning.

If the Jags are losing by 4 TDs, everybody in America turns the TV off and goes to bed and Sportscenter spends like 5 mins at the top of the show discussing it before moving on to Volleyball highlights.

If we are losing by 4 TDs, everybody in America is tuning in and hoping the score gets ran up on our arses................Sportscenter then spends the next 2 hours discussing why we suck so bad.

Its a win, win for Jerry...................if the team sucks or if the team wins................they are still the talk of the league and the networks.............stadium is going to be full, if not with Cowboy fans, then rival fans that buy the tickets from season holders. Those rival fans get thristy, they get hungry, and they got to park somewhere................money, money, money.................Jerry is loving this, why would he not?

You actually think the networks lose viewers when we are losing?

Why do you think teams like Buffalo and Clevland never get any prime time games and we get like 6 prime time games every freaking year.....................and we have not even broke 500 in the past 4 seasons.............why is that?
