I've said it from the day they came out....Shockey is better than Witten, and I still believe that. That's why Shockey went in the round 1 and Witten in round 3.

Witten is a class individual and a very good WR....Shockey is a better athlete, has better speed, and is a much better deep threat.

I love Witten, but I'd trade him today for Shockey. Shockey is loved in NY because he's their TE...Witten is loved in Dallas because he's our TE. Crumpler is loved in Atlanta because he's their TE.

I would trade Witten for either of the guys who got in, not because he's a bad TE, but because they are both better at getting deep and because they are more athletic which is why they are able to score more in the redzone.

I have no problem with anyone who says I'm crazy and that Witten is better than those other two guys...it's all opinion. My opinion is that Shockey would be crazy good in the Cowboys' offense, and we'd probably all be talking about how he's taken Irvin's spot as team leader with his fiery enthusiasm...he's also known as a very hard worker who practices with the same fire than he brings on Sunday.

I agree up to the point of having Shockey instead of Witten. In large part because like Aikman I think chemistry on a team matters and Shockey's constant lashing out at the team is not needed. It is one thing being so called firey and another calling out players and coaches on the team

I agree with you, but I'm not sure that's really indicative of who shockey is when you consider the problems have been rampant on that team with plenty of otherwise classy guys...I think that fish stinks from the head down.

Can you imagine what T.O. would be doing if he was on that Coughlin team and everyone was talking about losing games by being outcoached??? Yikes.

You could be right but I would not want to take the chance of being wrong. Witten I think does a great job of being a team guy and has made some hugh plays this year to help the Cowboys win. I do think Shockey has some physical abilities that Jason lacks but overall I love the fact Jason is a team guy.

can't disagree with you on that one....Witten is going to help us for a long long time....he'll make his probowls....with two legit wr's on the team this year, he's still got stats, but he doesn't get the attention he used to get.

ummm you're tripping, then why does everyone knows Andre Johnson is a butterfingers?? and Cadillac Williams cant hang on to any passes?? and Tiki used to be a fumbler? if you're true football fan, then you would know all this, its not because of TO's name. I dont give a **** about TO, i think hes a horrible person. i want him out of Dallas, the guy doesnt care about the team.

TO is the best receiver in football right now. He leads the league in touchdowns and is a huge reason why the Boys have a playoff spot secured in week 15. Him not making the probowl just hurts the integrity of the probowl and the credibility of the league. When your best players aren't represented in the "Pro" bowl, what's the point of having it. It should be called the Popularity Bowl.

Dallas should keep him next year for sure. As long as Parcell's returns TO can be managed. BP said he finds it "interesting" to manage TO :) BP just sits back and laughs at the ESPN hacks and so should we.

Quick... who led the league in dropped passes last year??

Bet you had to look it up... know why? Probably because you didn't even know they kept the stat until TO led the league in them.

That stat never gets play unless TO is leading the league.

It got a lot of pub with the Seahawks 3-4 years back and also with the Falcons this year.

Newman was snubbed. TO maybe deserved to go, but it's really not a travesty that he's not there. Driver and Boldin are both really good players, and TO hasn't been all that awesome this year, IMO, all things considered.

Are you kidding me!? How do you make the argument Shockey is a better TE because he's a bigger deep threat....when Witten is averaging more YPC....... Witten is a clutch player look at the Commanders and Giants game. Witten is also playing with two 1000 yard recievers! Crumpler plays with no thousand Yard recievers. Take what you have and enjoy it instead of thinking about how somebody is so much better, I'd take Witten over both of them.

Shockey got in due to his mouth and the TDs.

Then why isnt TO a Pro Bowler?

He only leads the league (WR) in TDs with 11 and has the BIGGEST mouth in the NFL.

Obviously stats dont count as much as people thought.

But if thats the case, why isnt Newman in the Pro Bowl?

Its like the BCS and the Heisman... starting (if it hasnt already happened) to lose all credibility.

PS. Please dont turn this into a OSU Michigna hate thread. Its already happened earlier on a different thread today.

Stick to the topic at hand.

To be honest I didnt read anything after this.

Tom Brady and Ryan Leaf... whos better?

So does draft position really matter in determining who is better?

You have zero idea.

That and the fact that coaches and players likely hate TO more.

Remember, for all of Shockey's mouth, he's still with the same team and, really, has only called out his own teammates. (Well, and Bill Parcells too.) ;)

But TO dissed the 49ers (and players and coaches on the team), dissed the Ravens, dissed the Eagles (and players and coaches on the team) and has had numerous incidents with the Cowboys that, while not rising to the level of anything he did in Philadelphia, still has attracted the attention of the league, coaches, players and the media.

That's the difference between the two and, IMO, why TO didn't make it and Shockey did.

I'm tripping?? How old are you?

First of all, there may be guys who are known to drop an occasional pass... but you said "leading the league in dropped passes is a scary stat." I called BS on that, because you don't even know who led the league in drops last season. My point is if it wasn't TO leading right now, you wouldn't know either.

NFL.com doesn't even list the stats on drops... http://www.nfl.com/stats

Know why? Because drops are only an obscure and newly kept stat... and it's usually an indicator of guys who are targeted more. Pop quiz... who do you think would have more drops...? A #1 WR who is targeted 120 times in a season, or say a 2nd TE who is on the team mainly for blocking purposes, but catches the occasional pass? Now who do you think is more dependable, who do you think the QB would be more confident throwing to? See how useless a drops stat is? No? Why am I not surprised?

See you're just like every other mediot in the country. You basically say you hate TO and that you want him out of Dallas? Then TO goes out this season, leads the league in TDs and you sweep that under the rug. TO has yet to do anything that has been a true detriment to the team, but do you care? No... you latch on to some completely meaningless and misleading stat, and say... "Leading the league in TDs? Well he's also leading the league in drops, so he should be cut." You've bought Skip Bayless' schtick hook, line, and sinker. And the analogy fits completely... you're like the fish at the back of the school who follows the rest of the group blindly. You've been here basically two days and posted 20 times, and I can already tell that. I figure you'll be on my ignore list in record time.

Secondly, bringing up all these guys and their reputations, is completely irrelevant... have to look up that word too? It means it doesn't matter, or it's beside the point.

Cadillac is a RB... his penchant for dropping passes (which I've never heard of, but I'll take your word for it for argument's sake) is secondary to his duties running the ball, and it's only an indicator that the Bucs are trying to get him the ball in space. To discount his abilities because he may drop an occasional pass only makes you look close-minded.

LMAO at this guy defedning TO. You think the Dallas Cowboys wouldnt win without TO? PLEASE!!! If Keyshawn was still here, we would be doing much better, the jerk TO doesnt care about anybody but himself. He's an attention needing *****. Alot of his dropped passes couldve been disaterous for the Cowboys, but do you ever think about that? or you're just so in love with TO? this team is winning because of guys like Romo, Ware, Glenn, Newman...etc....not because of that jerk TO. He's cancerous, look at the Eagles and 49ers. The guy always had suspect hands, bet you didnt know that either. He never had good hands, he's just speedy and powerful guy so he can get open, but his hands have always been an issue. I guarantee you if TO was released from the Cowboys, nobody else would pick him up unless its for dirt cheap, NOBODY except the Oakland Raiders. His *****yness to the coach, qb and teamates is very disruptive, enough is enough.

The longer it remains unanswered, the more it proves that there is a media bias against TO. They don't care what's fair and what's not. They want to keep drumming the line that reinforces their media created image. Sure, TO has his problems, but the more this goes on, the more it proves that they would rather be right, than be honest.
