:laugh2: I am a realist. He sucks now and he will suck in the NFL. You need to get rid of your Purdue logo.
In his dreams maybe. I doubt he would have finished 6th at the state meet with that time.
He sucks. Riiight. That's why he's invited to the combine. That's why he's one of the top rated Safeties in the draft. That's why he was one of ND's biggest playmakers the last two years. You really nailed that one.

I don't think he's ready to start, and neither did a lot of the analysts there including Deion.
They talked about how he's a guy that can come in and be a special teams ace for the next two or so years and then one day he would happen into a starting job and never give it up.
I think he can play but I look at him the same way Weddle was last year, a guy with a good set of tools that will take a few years to bloosom.
I certainly don't think he can cover any better than Roy, and he probably isn't as big a hitter. I think both Roy and Tom have mean streaks though, but Tom may have a little more mental toughness being that he's an actual fighter.
I never said he was ready to start. I said he was ready to be an immediate contributor. He would be an excellent guy to groom to eventually take everyone's favorite whipping boy's spot. On top of that he'd be a bigger special teams contributor.
Those same analysts were damn near chanting "someone draft this guy right now!"
He does have similar issues in coverage, takes poor angles, etc. However, he does something Roy hasn't been doing too much as of late...make plays. He's always around the ball.
He's got more heart, and a mean streak to boot.

The times I have seen them play he did not strike me as being any better at his position that the one many complain about currently on our team...aka Roy.
What he would give you, that roy does not, is someone that could possibly be a returner.
However for those that rag on Roy's coverage ability...don't turn around and act like Z would be any better. At best he would be about the same.
...if you leave no room for improvement. Roy hasn't spent too much time near the ball lately. That is what Zbikowski excels at. He always seems to be in the right spot at the right time.
It's certainly not out of the realm of possibility that he could end up being an improvement over what we've had at SS the last year and a half. It'd damn sure be cheaper.
