no its not if Jerry believed in BJ he would have kept him the dude a very nice player but was NOT worth the deal he was asking.. fans here complained from day 1 it took him 3 years just to settle in and doesnt make splash plays, hes not ball hawk, you dont pay that elite money for DB who doesnt make game changing plays a few games a year..

you all believe you know the cap, Jerry would sign them all if he had faith in them..BJ lie beasly, quinn, Hitchens, and many others priced themselves our of dallas npot because of the cap, had nothing to do with the cap but there talent or return on investment was not worth it..

but keep trying to be the GM while behind a keyboard with Cheeto dust all over your hands..Jerry could fit any deal he wants under a cap when they are needed, capaologist find a way..he wasn't in our plans,,

it was NOT a choice BJ vs EE, it was simply a business decsions..

if you pay a S or DB that kind of they better be Revis island, Sander, or dare i say Ramsey , i wouldnt have traded for Ramsey or Adams but pay scale wise they would be far better investments then BJ..

BJ is Carr Carr was overpaid and never was specials, very solid player , Heck TNewman was better..

so quit the hyperbole

yes its in shambles but not because we let BJ go...Diggs was rounding into form and will be fine next year, we will draft another stud at corner and build that way a S in FA maybe..BJ would not have made differences this year so Diggs got his learning lumps..

BJ is not difference maker , just very solid player..

He chose Ezekiel Elliott over Byron Jones and that was a poor decision imo. If you don't want to see other people's opinions don't go on a fan forum. Xavien Howard is leading the league in interceptions because he has Byron Jones on the other side. We could potentially have replicated that with Trevon Diggs if we kept Byron Jones.

our "numbers"?.... the history of our flashy number #2 RB's...tell the real story.

The numbers? Show Pollard gets a big play once in awhile then stuffed repeatedly.
Better than the stuff repeatedly and an often fumble

Hmmmmm......against Cincy:

Elliott 12 carries 48 yards 4 YPC (take out the 4th quarter 26 yard run and Zeke had 11 carries for 22 yards or......2 YPC!!!!!!)

How great Zeke and his $90M contract are these days.

It's hilarious that Pollard isn't seen for what he is. A change of pace relief RB. I can understand that some fans feel they're a salary authority and Elliott isn't the same as 4+ years ago (Shocker!) but Pollard isn't starting caliber.

Sorry I just noticed that Zeke is 5th in carries and 4th in yards.. 4th in the league in rushing.. behind this crappy patchwork line with Huey, Dewey and Lewey at QB. Hell if he stays in the top 5 with all this crap going on it will be his most impressive achievement yet..

mccafrey out, Saquon out, Chubb out, Aaron Jones missed games. Not really impressive

I wouldn't mind seeing Zeke outta here. Given the fact that he is the 2nd highest paid rb in the league, Zeke shouldn't be leading the NFL in fumbles. Just using my eye test, without looking up his stats, Pollard looks to be least a starting caliber fb, with a nice, cheap, contract. But trying to be objective, Jerry shouldn't cut Zeke this season because of the Cowboy's woeful O-Line. But next season if the Cowboy's O-Line is healthy, and Zeke doesn't take care of his fumbling issue...

If the line is healthy and Zeke still doesn't perform I'll be leading the charge to replace him. The fumble thing is a big bugaboo but he has two in the past 7 games I think. If he keeps it to that pace hell be fine. I think a lot of the early season issues had to do with him pressing along with his having to work harder for his yards than in years past with the line problems. The one on Turkey day was a fluke.. but after the Monday night debacle against the Cards he changed the way he ran and protected the ball and went 4-5 games without even a hint of it. Then on Thanksgiving he tried to reach it out for the sticks and got it punched out. As for Pollard.. I don't think he's starter caliber for a number of reasons.. not the least of which is that he averaged 2.7yards per carry on first down. Meaning on downs when the defense is truly playing run all the way he gets you next to nothing. By comparison Zeke averages 4.2 yards per carry on first down behind the same line. Which of course keeps you on schedule from a move the chains perspective. Pollard has gotten his most carries of the season the last two games.. The result has been 8 carries for 22 yards (2.75) and 11 for 39 yards (3.55) yards per carry. In the other game he got 10 carries against the Cards it was 10 for 31. 3.1 ypc. I think Pollard has shown himself to be an outstanding change of pace back.. However when he has gotten heavy carries it has not worked out so well. The exception being Pittsburgh when he had 9 or 57 thanks to two 20 yarders. When he wasn't breaking off nice long ones he was averaging 2 ypc. As I keep repeating.. That aint winnin football. Both backs have struggled to get positive yards behind this line. Zeke has done it a little more consistently than Pollard has.. which is why I keep him around for next year. He's owed a boatload of money anyway so I'd rather pay him while finding out if he still has anything left than cut him, have him go to a team that actually blocks and watch him reel off a couple of 1500 yard seasons in say, Los Angeles with the Chargers. Think that team couldn't use a bellcow back to take some of the pressure off their young QB? .

So you're giving those guys brownie points for missing games? Sorry I don't grade on a curve. There is value in showing up for work every week. Whether people wish to admit it or not.

No. Not even remotely. I’m saying without some of the premiere backs in the league hew still only 4th/5th. That’s extremely disappointing.

This whole season is extremely disappointing and Zeke is certainly part of it. However he is far from all of it. I doubt any of the guys ahead of him are toiling behind a line that features 2 undrafted free agents, one of whom is a rookie, a second year "rookie", and a couple of journeymen. Add in an offensive coordinator who really seems to prefer running out of shotgun over traditional power running formations and you have a recipe for disaster.

Yeah I’m not blaming him or even really trying to shhh on him. Just not celebrating his league ranking when half the best backs in the league been on the shelf

wasn't Xavier Howard already INT'ing passes and making pro bowls before Byron Jones even arrived?
the way I saw that is Howard is gonna make a play to secure an INT on passes ..while Jones is gonna just make a play to knock passes down to the ground.

Celebrating is perhaps too strong a term. Appreciating is probably more appropriate. Watching our backs have to fight through tacklers in the backfield on seemingly every other running play gives me an appreciation for Zeke averaging 4 ypc behind that. There are 5 or 6 runs every single game that a lesser back gets 0 or negative yards (because a defender is there as he takes the handoff) and Zeke drags him for 2 or 3. It's not sexy but 2nd and 7 beats 2nd and 12 every day of the week. The other backs ahead of Zeke are also at least getting competent QB play.. Chubb has Baker, Cook has Cousins, Henry has Tannehill, Jones has Brady, Drake has Murray. The only one who is ballin without a decent QB to help out is Robinson in JAX but I think he is the third back in the last 5 years to get to 1000 yards behind that line.. so I'd say they're not bad at run blocking down there. Like I said, the deck is heavily stacked against Zeke with all that has happened. Yes he needs to clean some things up.. but I'm not ready to shovel dirt on him yet with all things considered.

8 carries for 22 yards? Really? This is the guy yall are insisting should replace Zeke? As I predicted the long layoff allowed Zeke to bring a little juice to the stadium tonight. Alas I think he will be hard pressed to be physically ready in 5 days to play on Sunday. F you Goodell. So instead of just one game on short rest we get two this year. F you Goodell. But I digress. Both backs ran hard tonight.. but again we see that Pollard is good for an occasional splash play but there's a lot of bone dry in between them. What we saw from Zeke was consistently grinding out positive yards.. Even a couple of nice cutbacks for over 10.. Except for the idiotic play calling on the first and goal from the 1. Three straight plays into the teeth of a 9 man box with the line getting blown into the backfield. Would it kill you to run wide or off tackle down there Kellen Moore? Good thing Cooper bailed Dalton out on the 4th down throw. Dalton almost airmailed that thing.. McCarthy needs to take film of that sequence into his offseason meeting with Jerry and say " this is why I need to call plays man.. "

Pollard did have the one nice kick return but I repeat for those of you who believe he ran 4.3 at his pro-day.. If he was really that fast that linebacker doesn't track him down once he broke free like that. A true 4.3 burner takes that thing to the house high stepping the last 30 yards.
LOL,,, Players like Tony Pollard are not the problem with this team,, they are the outliers..

Those teams make talent like Pollard relevant, you calling Pollard to the floor for this teams failures is shortsighted, we waste talent in Big D
