By contribution percentage to a team and their success, RBs are woefully underpaid

I feel for them. They deserve to get paid the way their bodies are exposed so early into their careers.

Maybe their rookie contracts should be larger
The market is terrible. I agree they take more of a beating than most but I don’t see a solution. Rookie contracts are by draft position not playing position. Changing that could open a can of worms and might even harm their draft stock
I feel for them, they deserve something but it’s complicated.
One thing for sure a meeting won’t change anything. They have no leverage because most have such a short productive career

curious to see what they think they can do honestly and if it would make any change. I think the QB position has gotten so out of hand $$'s wise and the RB position unfortunatly has gone the other way, there just seems to be a need for the nfl to figure out the compensation thing, no clue what they would do though.
agree, my idea is that the nfl introduces some kind of single player cap…either a certain % of total payroll NTE or some kind of nba-like superMax contract limitations.

Good post. A big problem I’ve seen for a lot of people to understand this is they can’t differentiate the positional value from the individual player’s value.

RB is an extraordinarily important position in the offense. But the difference between the 9th best RB and the 23rd best RB is not a lot when it come to impact in winning a football game. So if the 23rd is getting 6m$ AAV, there’s no logical reason to pay the 9th 13+. RBs aren’t being undervalued, their market was overvalued and there has been a sharp correction
Great point. Very few actually out play the guys ranked lower than them by any significant amount. Very few are productive after 4 years or so. Guys like pollard and CMC have a much better impact because they are also passing weapons but very few stay healthy too
I feel for them because they give a lot of their body to the game but I don’t see the RB value going up anytime soon

Something along those lines actually helps more players get paid more money
Right now it’s a select few positions eating up a large chunk of the cap. Grant it those positions do have more impact so it’s complicated

I wonder if the really talented high school and college players drift away from the RB position to CB or some other position that offers higher pay.

Given how interchangeable they are and how you don’t need elite RBs to build a good run game in todays NFL, they are always going to be lower on the pay scale.

RBs are so interchangeable for the most part how do you even monitor this? Even Darren McFadden put up a 1000 yard season for us (loved him that year btw).

Maybe guaranteed production bonuses that don't go towards the cap? Honestly don't know, but these guys deserve to be paid, such a physically demanding position that gets no respect for what they put there body through.

truthfully, I think we need the team to set aside a fund to pay for our mental therapy and counseling after the last 27 years. I mean, our emotional roller coaster has taken its toll over the years. The argument is we are spolied..which is what the ;likes of Mike Fisher wants us to believe, but if the standard is still winning big games when they matter and getting 2 a SB, why again are we spoiled? I will not sit down and stay quiet like he wants. We haven't won many playoff games in the past 27 years. My feeling is Dallas is an elite franchise like no other in pro sports and the standard should always be 1 of reaching a SB. We have failed miserably the last 27 years and thats a truth that no one can argue. Count me as spoiled if I have higher expectations than other teams fans. That star on the helmet represents a heritage, greatness and a level of play that should equal it. ANYTHING ELSE IS A FAILURE. Fans put $ in teams pockets and that will never change unless the fans are eliminated from the equation. THEY NEED US. Holding the Jones family' feet to the fire is what we need to do. Lastly, I give Jerry credit for buying the team and taking us to 3 SB's making us relevant again. I give him his due, but by any measure, thats ancient history. Time for a new chapter of winning. We haven't been relevant in 27 years. Guys like Mike Fisher simply doesn't care what we think and is holding on to the past glory of decades gone by. We should never do that. The mere fact that millionaire players are having a summit tie into this junk. It shows the delusional mindset they have that they are entitled to more and more, results be damned. END OF RANT. Here is to a great 2023 season!:flagwave:

Agree. I don't disparage them getting their bag, its just that the market sets the price and they want more than the market currently is willing to pay. Business doesn't work like that. Like any career, terms are dictated by chosen profession and the market value. Terms aren't dictated by the employee except in a few instances. Every line of work has its pitfalls. RB just happens to be undervalued right now and that may change later. Im thinking maybe a middle ground can be had using incentives to reach the monetary level they want. Without guarantees and busting the cap.

great question. In the end, the rb is a key cg in winning . I feel eventually rb's will get aid more if teams get creative.

Maybe someone should set up a "charity" account for these poor victims
being forced to play a game for millions of dollars.
maybe a go fund me for these slaves? Maybe they need to go the the food pantry to stock their 3k fridge with goods.. hey maybe they will legalize gambling to give them more $. A man gotta feed his family too. Gas is also expensive these days. HEY maybe the Fed will do a BAIL OUT for struggling running backs? Take it to congress!! Lets have hearings! Form a congressional committee. Maybe a yearly summit in Switzerland.

Saquon Barkley last year: 295 carries, 1312 yards, 4.4 YPC. He wants more than 13m$ a season.

Zach Moss, Devin Singleterry and James Cook last year for the Bills: 283 carries, 1517 yards, 5.4 YPC. They will make a combined 5m$ in 2023.

Josh Jacobs: 340 carries, 1653 yards, 4.9 yards per attempt. Also wants 13+m$ AAV.

Kenneth Walker, Rashaad Penny, Deejay Davis for the Seahawks: 320 carries, 1582 yards, 4.9 yards per carry. They will make a combined 4.5m$ in 2023.

That 10m$ difference is the difference between Tyler Biadasz and Jason Kelce; Jonathan Allen and Aaron Donald; Derek Barnett and Haason Reddick; Odell Beckham and AJ Brown.

The arguments for paying RBs are surface level at best. It’s unfortunate for the players, but it’s not as if the owners are pocketing that money; it’ll just go to other more valuable players instead
