When you have a franchise QB that is a top 40 QB of all time and the contract that comes along with it, you don't draft another QB at 16. BTW, who said JF was a franchise QB?

People that dismiss stats....well if it were so easy, then why can't other QBs put up the same numbers?

Has he done his part? Yes? Has the defense done their part? No.

Not that hard to understand......

He was a top 40 QB. Unfortunately his best years were wasted..

Question, if he were to win a SB, is he a HOF in your book?

Wasnt this the same argument against Elway until he won two consecutive SB's finally at the end of his fairly long career? Elway carried a number of teams that would of never won more then 8 games into the playoffs. He carried them. Their coach played close and just told John to go win the game in the 4'th quarter.... Unfortunately for him Tony has carried a number of teams that had no business winning more then 3 games to 8-8 seasons due to terrible defenses. But he has carried the cowboys for a number of years just like Elway did. Elway had much better defenses for many of those years.

A fantastic read, a statistically backed argument on the greatest 100 quarterbacks of all-time.

The hate Tony Romo gets is criminal, almost ignorant. It is time for the world to acknowledge that he is a fantastic football player who hasn't been successful in the playoffs yet, because football is a team sport. Romo deserves better.

We are lucky to have him and I will say this, Romo is the best player in the team, it is time to build and direct our attention towards the remaining 52.

I can't call it... i just want him to not freeze up in big games towards the end..... and be healthy for two more years... a Super Bowl trophy would be a godsend... and a nod to his career...
and yes I know he is not the only one faltering in big games.....

No.

That doesn't mean I don't believe he can. I don't believe that is happening anytime soon though for this team.

I'm with you on the first part, he could, he is a darn good player, unfortunately it's hard to see him getting a ring with this team and specially with this HC.

40 is a little high, but not far off. The problem is that that number isn't as good as you think.

It brings in to question where Danny White and other good QBs from the past should be rated. The rushing game was more important in the past, so the stats don't look as good, but it is not the QBs fault.

Maybe other QBs don't play in an offense that gives them the opportunity to get great stats. Romo has had decent defenses up until the last couple of years. Who's fault was it during those years that the team didn't win playoff games? There is always somebody else to blame.

LOL at where E-Lie ranks. #64 and then with the era adjustment #81. Far below Romo in both.

With any kind of listing/ranking system there will be problems. For instance, when you have Trent Green and Billy Kilmer ahead of Rom in the era adjusted ranking that raises questions as to the legitimacy of it. On the other hand tho its nice to see that the most overrated player in the history of the NFL - Joe Montana - isnt in the top 10, so it seems to be pretty decent for the most part.

Why does Romo have to shoulder all the blame?

Top 40 QB lol

20 years from now, this will still be debated. Nothing will ever change. Stats are good but without playoff success, it means very little.

Top 10 QB's of 2014

http://cover32.com/2014/05/19/top-10-in-2014-the-best-quarterbacks-in-the-nfl-today/

Romo number 6

Quarterbacks tend to get too much credit when their team wins, which is offset by the fact that they get too much blame when their squad falls short. Romo is saddled with way too much of the latter, as every misstep the Cowboys make falls on the quarterback’s shoulders. It’s to the point where it seems as though Dallas fans won’t appreciate what they have until Romo is gone. But he’s a very, very good QB. The fact that he’s been able to keep the Cowboys competitive, despite all of the dysfunction in Big D, gets overlooked too often

I disagree . For years Dallas has been known for doing less with more talent than any other team. The last couple if years was an exceltion for the level of talent, but what about the other years? Isn't it possible that another QB could have done just as well if not better?

Prob right. The consensus on the top 4 is pretty much set in stone with Peytom, Tom Cry Brady, Brees and Rodgers. After that its open for debate, but pretty hard to argue against having Tony at #6.
