Trade Austin?....

And people wonder why I believe we have a stupid fan base.

Yeah, trading young star WR, 1 of 2 biggest playmakers on the offense and probowler for years to come- BRILLIANT!

Honestly if it was that I would consider it as well cause that would result in us having 3 1st rounders in 2010 and 2 1st rounders in 2011 (making him worth more than Cutler). The flaw is that SF has Crabtree already so they have no need for a WR.

Throw him in there. 2 1st rounders this year and Crabtree for Miles. Seems fair to me.

I agree it's a dumb idea to ever consider it, especially with us being so close to where we want to be. Trading Austin would be a step back towards rebuilding and not towards winning in the next few seasons.

Lots of people feel we already need a little help at WR, I don't, but many do. So we trade our only known, legitimate threat at that position for X amount of draft picks, but then how many of those picks do we spend trying to replace Austin, who now leaves a gigantic hole at WR? Whoever said it earlier was right... This is gonna be a long offseason.

Not only would I trade him, I would probably do it for just a first this year and a first next year.

Austin is a product of the system, you can put any other guy into his slot with a decent amount of speed and you will get the same production. As much praise as Austin gets its really Witten and Roy and Crayton that make what he does possible. Witten constantly demands tight coverage from the other team and Roy with his blocking and ABILITY to make big plays also demands that a team cover him tight. Throw Crayton in the mix and you have 2 good WR and 1 superb TE that are making an Average Austin look great.

ITS ALL HYPE! Now is the time to trade him. This is what we should have done with Barber, trade him when he is at the top. Austin is at the top, he will command the highest trade value right now, trade him get some 1st round picks to really build this team and draft a speed WR in the later rounds to replace Miles Shady Austin.

Anyone that thinks Austin is special really need to take a look at how this offense operates, he is a system player (see Big 12 QBs) trade him and leave the other team holding the bag and laugh all the way to the draft bank.

I feel bad for posters that have "Austin" in their user name because next year when he is not here they are going to look as silly as the guys with TO in their user name.

Cmon ya'll we all know that just about any ole WR in the right system can rack up 250 yards on 10 receptions and 2 TDs in a game. I'm sure Charles Rodgers in this system could do it.....:lmao2:

the stupidest conversations on sports talk radio or message boards are trade ideas b/c they are never anywhere even remotely close to reality.

Reallly??????

So ill go ahead and get, lets say, Ramses Barden from the Giants, lets see if he will have 1320 yards and 11 tds over 11 games.

I have no clue who that is, but if he has decent speed your answer is yes.

Miles Austin = System Receiver, matter of fact he is not even the best receiver in Dallas...

Sure why not. Just stick o-tree in there and we are good to go.

The Texas fans are the best.

Seriously.

Roy could have 9 catches this season and they would still want him back as the #1 WR.

No wonder he loves that school so much.

I know.

Why don't the Cowboys trade him back to UT for Jordan Shipley now and Arnie Cocker Spaniel gets some of his wish.

:lmao:

utrunner, you are officially INSANE. Miles Austin is an elite WR in the NFL, and if you dare say Roy Williams or the unproven Kevin Ogletree ill call you nuts, if you bust out PC or Sam Hurd your insane.

Miles Austin is the next Michael Irvin, most system receivers don't break tackles, make catches when TE's think the pass is for them and tip it, jump up and make inhuman catches.

Miles, whether you relize it or not has more Football Talent than any WR in the NFL Today excluding Andre Johnson, who IMO is a top 5 WR all time.

well that wasn't a ridiculous idea. everyone knew jerry was enamored with him and detroit was TERRIBLE. he seemed to be wasting away there. i wasn't surprised at all when that trade happened. i don't believe many people were in general.

here's a project for you. go ahead and fire off the list of playoff teams who trade away their #1 receivers in the offseason.

I have yet to see Austin throw blocks like Roy, say what you want about Roy but he is a team player. Even AFTER Romo acts like a baby and scowls at him after every single play trying to make it seem as if its Roy's fault. All Austin does is run down the field fast, he does not throw blocks he does not fight to get open, if he gets open he is open if not, well maybe he will next play.

Roy>> Austin.
