Only way I consider it is if San Fransisco comes calling and offers their 12th and 14th picks in 2010 for him, but even then I ask for a 1st in 2011 aswell.


Now if we get 3 first round picks for him, I may consider it. More than likely no, a Miles Austin does not come around very often, even 3 above average players does not equal Miles. Miles is an ALL-PRO wide receiver

Great point. Miles Austin might be the best wide receiver in the NFL. Why? just look at the stats between him and Fitzgerald, who some might argue that he's the best. The stats are telling. Miles Austin is third in the NFL and he didn't even start in all the game except that game against the Chiefs.

3 First Rd Picks. I would rather have Seattle picks #6 #14 #40 and a next year 1st Rd Draft pick and I see the Cowboys parting ways with Miles.

Yeah no..... Miles Austin is a RFA which means whatever team signs him to an offer sheet will have to give up picks, unless the Boys match it. If the Boys "tag" him, anyone who wants him will have to trade. In the end, if Austin is gonna end up going to another team they'll have to trade.

I have yet to see Austin throw blocks like Roy, say what you want about Roy but he is a team player. Even AFTER Romo acts like a baby and scowls at him after every single play trying to make it seem as if its Roy's fault. All Austin does is run down the field fast, he does not throw blocks he does not fight to get open, if he gets open he is open if not, well maybe he will next play.

Why trade Austin for picks when there are so many receivers out there that are either busts or do not pan out in year one (or even year two)??? Getting receivers in the Draft is a crapshoot, Austin is a living testament to that.

If we draft a rookie to replace him, then that leaves us with Roy as our number 1??? Roy currently isn't even the third option when they are in their three receiver sets (Crayton is) and now he will be asked to be the man? He failed already in that assignment.

That idea would technically throw away next season.

OK it's something I heard while driving home on 105.3 The Fan, and it made me hot under the collar because of the stupidity of it. Just wanted to throw it out on the forums to be discussed.

Arnie Spanier their evenings host was discussing a story he had seen either on PFT or somewhere about why the Cowboys should end up trading Austin and how it would be better for them.

He reckoned that since the Boys already have Roy Williams and are paying him so much money that when they "tag" Austin and some other team comes around offering Austin $10 million a year then JJ can't justify paying Roy 9.5 and Austin 10, therefore letting Austin leave in exchange for two 1st rounders. Arnie argued that since we would then have 2 1st rounders this season and 1 the season after then it would work out because he threw out that we could replace Austin with Jordan Shipley from the 3rd round, and get Gerhart in the 2nd, and trade up to get Suh in the 1st with our 2 #1s.

When people called in to say this was an idiotic idea to get rid of such an impact player in Austin, Arnie reasoned that JJ sent Hershel Walker to Minnesota and that made such a huge difference.

My personal opinion:
Arnie is an idiot for thinking they should get rid of Austin for some picks.

1st off, Hershel Walker was going downhill when we fleeced the Vikings for all those picks. 2nd off the Boys when they traded Walker were a crappy team all around with needs everywhere, Boys now only need a few pieces no need to get rid of a vet for a bunch of rookies.

If anything we get rid of RW and not Austin. No way in HELL the Boys trade Austin b/c if they do they'll have a PR nightmare. You don't trade the guy who essentially saved your season (You don't discover a "Tom Brady" and then trade him away the next season for some picks).

What do ya'll think of this dumb plan.

I'll say this I want Austin here but the Walker trade taught me one important lesson there is no player I would not trade if the price is right. I'm mean if someone was dumb enough to give us players their 1st and 2nd rd picks for the next 2 season you bet I would trade Austin, I would be stupid not to do it. However I don't see anyone out there willing to give up as much as I would want to get Austin.

I agree I think Suh is going to be a hell of a player, he has the size, strength to be a very good DT and add to that speed to track guys down. I can think of a couple of former Cowboy greats who fit that same bill at DT.

wow. that's a tough call. I guess it depends on who's signing him. if its a pick in the late 20's, I say keep austin. he was one of the best play makers in the league and those don't come along that often.

if its in the top 10, then we have to think hard. that means its a bad team and that probably next year their draft pick will be in the teens.

is a LT more important than a play making WR? that's what a top 10 pick will give you.

I don't agree with getting Suh, because ratlieff to DE would waste his talents. I would rather get an every down MLB or a play making saftey in the secondary.
