Every 20 minutes or so I ask Jack, should Dak start before Romo, should we trade Dak so Romo stays comfortable. For 20 minutes Jack says nothing, so I pour another Jack and wonder what the heck are people thinking. Jack says have another it will make sense, I think I'll run out of Jack before it makes any sense

I've seen one too many "Dak is better than Romo" threads lately, and I don't want to continue that stupid argument. As of today and probably for the next 3 years, Romo is the best player on the team, hopefully Dak is so great that he will be better and then we'd have a great problem in our hands, but in the mean time let's be realistic and be happy with Romo as our field general.

So here's a new debate, I thought of this today:

The Rams, Eagles and Broncos call you today, and they offer you Goff, Wentz and Lynch respectively straight up for Dak. Would you do it? Why, or why not?

if I had a rubber hose, I would beat you......

It does beg an overarching question that is rather interesting: At what point does performance against NFL competition outweigh/override your pre-draft scouting report? I'd love to know a scout's take on this.

at some point during the regular season. if Romo goes down and he starts a game, with teams getting a chance to prepare for him and he performs well, then we know he has a future, but even then, it's how do you perform when there's actual tape on you.

I wonder what would have happened to Aikman had the internet and social media been out then?

for a better possible future

so you have a guy that [though early yet] is knockin em out of the park
his plays a position hard to find and we may have landed one cheaply
it secures our future troubles but you'l bet on a brighter future?

Dak is the first sense of comfort [at back up QB] I personally have felt in 4 or 5 years
It just doesn't make a lick of sense IMO

bknight13 please dont take offense but your smarter then this

I'm not saying make the trade.....only that there is tremendous value on the other side that can't be ignored.....Tom Brady fell because he barely played at UM.....Romo was undrafted from a D1AA school......Dak was in the SEC and has plenty of starts.......all the pros said that Goff and Wentz were way better....

Exactly 9 days ago if you suggested trading Dak for Goff it would not have even been taking seriously.....now it is being laughed at the other way......I didn't make that up

That is the tragic part of the Prescott phenomena.

It cannot be enjoyed for what it is.

It just has to be meaning something else.

OMG he's the future

OMG you think Romo is getting worried?

OMG I wonder what we could get for him right now!

It really takes the fun out of watching a player do his job and show promise.
Exactly!

Well if we traded him already what would I do with both of my Dak Prescott jerseys?

Hmmm trade Dak who has shown the game is not too big for him and has shown he has all the qualities you want in a future QB for one that has shown they might not ever be anything more than a Mark Sanchez no *** way

It's not hard to discuss a hypothetical, guys.

To answer the question -- for Goff and Wentz, yes. For Lynch, probably not. That's not downplaying Dak or building up Goff or Wentz, but there's a reason they went 1-2 and Dak went in the 4th. After two preseason games, you can't judge anything one way or the other, so you still have to go with the tools and projections. Goff and Wentz still are on top of that one. Give Goff a little credit - he's playing on a much worse offense behind a worse OL with worse weapons. Dak is in the perfect situation right now. I never really liked Lynch much in the first place.

The same scouting missed out on Tony Romo and let Tom Brady fall into the later rounds. The first round has been filled with QB busts, so apparently all of this scouting isn't as bulletproof as it seems. I'm sticking with Prescott.

Really??? Would I do it...NOT! Why, when we strike gold in the 4th round leftovers, would you consider trading your next franchise QB who
has out-shown all the pundits so far. I think you really need to find some other hobby to fixate on my buddy.

Regardless... We have to find out if Dak can play within the next 4 years. There is no need to rush it but if Romo does play 4 more years and Dak is a Free Agent and hasn't gotten on the field much then giving him a longterm deal could be a huge gamble.

Hopefully he gets to sit a couple of years though at least.

Dallas would look pretty stupid trading Dak. people say this is just pre season and that is true but then what does it say about Goff, Wentz and Lynch when they can't produce even vs Vanilla defense. Dak has the tools to do the job and is out there doing it.
