Fuzzy, why would you want to trade Folk? We finally got a reliable kicker and you want to let him go for a sack of beans. I say, if it's not broke, don't fix it.

Did anyone actually look up Folk's stats? The guy is the most accurate FG kicker currently in the NFL!

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/fg_perc_active.htm

That's right, NUMBER-ONE, numero-uno, ichiban, the big cheese, the top dog, the freakin BEST! :bravo:

Mason Crosby is 25th (out of 32) among active kickers and someone said he wished we would have taken him instead?

Folk also has yet to miss an XP, he is 100% on them.

87% on FG and 100% on XPs but he can't kickoff into the endzone so we bring in a guy that can. Now we have the best overall kicking in the league! Why are some people unhappy with that?
:bang2: :bang2: :bang2:

There also seems to be an awful lot of man-love for Buehler here even though he has yet to do anything in the NFL. The dude has a great physique so I guess I can understand why some who swing that way would be all sweaty over him. :lmao2:

Its funny how people don't actually read the OP much less the thread. The entire point is that it would be better to not have to keep 2 kickers and trade one of them away. You just don't do it on a whim. I would like to see either

a) Folk consistently kick the ball within the 5 or
b) Beuhler show he can hit about 90% of his attempts.

Oh and one of the knocks on Vanderjagt and a big reason why Indy let him go was because he couldn't kickoff worth a flip.

I read your post and the thread, Mr. Defensive. I made the comment I felt like making. We have two kickers now, per the team's decision. They feel it is a better option.

I maintain that it is fine the way it is and that people should remember our past kicking woes when debating the idea of trading the most accurate kicker in the league.

Would it be nice to have a kicker that kicks off well and is the most accurate in the league? Sure. But, as we can all attest to, they don't just grow on trees.

I don't find the idea bad if David is as accurate...than it would be silly to keep 2 kickers...also if someone offers a ridiculous trade I would also be willing to look into it...However if David is only an 85% kicker or less than absolutely not.. unless again I was offer a ridiculous price.

I would keep Folk he has shown he can handle the big kicks in pressure situations that you will not get in the Pre-season. For me it would take more than 1 pre-season to let go of Folk

Precisely. Buehler never showed a great level of consistency kicking FGs at USC and I would be hesistant to let one of the better clutch kickers in the league go and trust a simple preseason evaluation.

We cannot forget about the nightmare we had with the Jose Cortez/Billy Cundiff/Shaun Suisham/Mike Vanderjagt quartet.

Folk has been an outstanding kicker and there is no reason to jettison him in favor of everyone's golden boy simply because there is angst over the roster spot.

Management made the bed with the issue by taking an extra specialist in the first place. If they are dim-witted enough to move Folk out of a feeling of obligation, then they really are worse than I thought.

We won't get much for a kicker anyways. I certainly wouldn't be greedy enough for a middle round pick that we lose that reliability which Folk provides.

It is mind-blowing. It has gone from he's a great kickoff artist now to somehow being as reliable as Folk.

I am almost wishing for him to look terrible kicking FGs in preseason to just end the insanity. If he nails a 53 yarder to win a game? I shudder to think how the craze will get out of hand.

Next people will wonder if he can take Romo's job too. He's. Just. That. Awesome. It started as a joke and now is bordering on complete stupidity.

I will chime in here with my 2 cents worth of thought.

I would keep both kickers for like 2 years, while slowly letting Beuhler groomed to kick field goals in preseaon and practices. See, if he does better. If he does, and if Folk cant improve on his kickoffs, then in 2-3 years you could trade one of them, possibly Folk if Beuhler improves in field goals. You would be able to get a very high draft pick with Folk. Probably a number 2 pick, and with that can help you in the draft.

I am sure that the cowboys will do something with both kickers in 2-3 years, because thats when Folk's contract will be up. So, either you will have to pay Folk a ton of money, or have Beuhler ready to play.

Next, youve got to think about this. We all know that Wade is on a short leash this year, either at least he gets the cowboys to a championship game or a super bowl, or wade is out. The next new head coach might now want to keep 2 kickers on the roster.

Other thing that adds into this thought is the NFL most likely adding 1 to 2 games from the preseason to the regular season schedule. If the NFL does that, then the rosters of NFL clubs will have to be increased from 53 rosters spots to about 55 to 60.

This will in case then leave an opening to keeping 2 kickers, as well as having a few more players that you can keep on your roster.

Folk is money and no way I would trade him

Folk = clutch
Buehler = former defensive player that can kick a football

I think Folk's injury is why we drafted Buehler was because Jerry

1 knew he had to have a good backup plan
2 not just a street kicker
3 knew that Folk needed
4 known us are sure how Folks hip will respond ???????????

he could get hit the right way an boom hes out

I think we keep them both - plus isn't this Folks contract year

Sure thing Mr. Nonsensical Reading Comprehension Deficiency. You go ahead and make whatever comment you want. At the end of the day it is nonsense compared to what I actually said.

I am the only one that ever came up with a scenario in which Folk would be traded and that was only with the caveat that Beuhler showed something like a 90% success rate.

I cannot really say that I am surprised in this coming from you. Point out the post where anyone says that Beuhler has reached that status.

There may be stupidity but you're looking for it from the wrong source.

Folk was at about 92% last year. I understand that he is damn good. What I don't like is having two kickers on the roster. My point was more of a question that asks at what point can we get rid of one or the other.

If Beuhler can show that he will hit 90% of his FG is taht enough to justify trading Folk. What about 85%.

I just don't see Folk adding an additional 10 yards to his KO. Thats why I singled him out but I would be happy to see him do that and get rid of Beuhler. I really don't like wasting a roster spot on a kicker.

not going to matter much since we plan on scoring mostly touchdowns, not FGs.

I thought about posting that but he's only been in the league a couple of years so far. With all the flack I get for posting Romo's stats I just didn't feel it was worth the backlash.
