Trade Lance

What if Dak gets hurt. You want to depend on Cooper Rush?
Rush is limited by arm strength but understands the concept of playing the position. The scheme can be adjusted to make up for his limitations as previously seen.
Lance has no concept of how to play the position. As soon as you face that reality we can get back to rational and reasonably intelligent conversations about the backup QB position on this team.
In short, I sure don’t want Lance ever having to take meaningful snaps in a game!

Now that Dak is signed, trade Lance to a QB starved team and at least recoup the draft capital we spent acquiring him.
I doubt we could get anything close to what we spent on him. I’d take a conditional 7th in 2030 right now just to open up the roster spot to someone who is able to contribute at all.

If Lance has any hands they should try him at slot WR… he probably won’t go gor it.

Is he that much worse than some of the other young QBs we saw?

If Lance was perfect this preseason, Dak would have still received the same contract. Only a fool would judge a player on preseason games. Dak was always going to be a Cowboy. The Cowboys got Lance because they wanted a developmental quarterback with tools. A 4th round flyer made it worth it. You guys act like that 4th round pick would have been the next Dak or something.
it is what it is, and i understand the flyer. but draft picks are a valuable commodity for a team that shows zero interest in talent acquisition outside of the draft. coupled with the fact timing of getting him and not being able to get to know him or develop him for a year, his 5th year option being due etc, it's still a relative head scratcher.

I still think the Cowboys like Lance, and I for one hope they hold on to him and let him back up Dak for a couple of years, then take over.

Results speak for themselves… he got it done and that’s all that matters
in the moment for that stretch. however moving forward and planning for the future the play speaks for itself and the leagues opinion of him speaks for itself.

Rush isn't anything special. He won't win you any games. If you have a good enough team, he might not lose you games either. But put him on a mediocre team, and he'd lose every game.
He is a bus driver back up… and we just need a steady hand back there if Dak gets nicked up

He isn’t a starter for sure. And we can look to replace him in a year or two…

I guess its always possible, but given the money they already have committed to the QB position I would assume they look for their backup in the draft this offseason so they can pay them less than vet minimum. Plus I would assume that lance would rather go somewhere where he has an actual chance to compete for a starting role.

The Cowboys traded back a few spots and still got Guyton and Beebe. A fourth round pick is a dime a dozen. We just cut are fourth round pick from 2023.

Yup, Jerry will wheel and deal and trade him for a 6th rounder

This is a trade that happens during cuts if anything. Nobody is giving you a single pick today for a QB that isn't good, with that contract, & on the last year. If a team wants needs a QB bc their starter goes down then they'll be looking for Dobbs. Not a guy that's marginally better then what they have now....if even that.
