Only trade up for an elite pass rusher if one falls. Nothing more

As the draft is quickly approaching, I wanted to know what are your thoughts on us trading up for Gurley? Most feel like he is the best back to come out the draft since AP. I am in the majority of those thinking we should stick with our formula of success and rely on our ground game and balanced offense to physically wear down opposing defenses. With that said, I think Gurley will beast behind our oline (barring no setbacks with the knee injury).

I know most want to trade for AP (some are willing to part with our first rounder). Lets say Vikings want too much for AP, would you guys trade our 2nd to the Lions for a chance to snatch Gurley?

I want Gurley but not by giving up a second. Now, if we swap our second and pick up Detroit's third pick, I'm good with that. But we still have a few needs to fill, and there are other backs in this draft who could excel behind our offensive line.

If you want the best RB to come out since AP then the answer is yes. If you want the leftovers then no.

Only way I'd trade up would be if it was a few spots and we only gave up a 5th or at most a 4th. Otherwise stay put at go bpa

I prefer not to trade up and give away future talent. If gurley is there at 27 we should take him. If he isn't there I'd like to take these guys in this order pending they are still available. 1a Todd gurley 1b Marcus peters 1c malcom brown 1d Owanagbe odifhizuwa 1e Eric kendricks

Depending on who we select with the first pick id like to go best available player at the 4 positions I just named.. Cb, Rb, De, Dt, and maybe linebacker. Some names I like are pj Williams, Eric Rowe, jay ajayi, Michael Bennett and Danielle hunter

Cowboys aren't trading up.. especially not for a RB. If anything, they'll trade down and accumulate another 4th rounder or so.

Gurley will be long gone by 27. San Diego at 18 or Arizona at 24 will scoop him up in a heartbeat.

Trading with Detroit may be more difficult because they don't have a 4th or 5th Rd pick this year. A 1st and a 3rd is a lot of extra value for Detroit and Dallas would have to get more picks back from Detroit, but they don't have them to give. A 1st and 4th is about 45 points off Dallas' way, but maybe Detroit would do that deal to recoup an extra pick. If I can use a 4th to jump up and get Gurley, I'm in favor. Anything more and I think I pass.

trent richardson was the best running back to come out since AP and he was available real cheap.

I think the depth of this class at running back keeps Dallas from considering it. Gurley might end up being the best, but how much better is he than Gordon or Coleman or Ajayi, etc. I don't think you give up getting another player who can help your team unless you believe no other back available can.

Of course, that's the way you end up with Julius Jones instead of Stephen Jackson, too, so I can see the appeal.

Someone besides Gurely could be the best RB, or Gordon for that matter.

Considering the pure numbers going to be deservedly selected late or outside the 2nd and before the 4th, there is more than likely several starting RBs in this Draft that can carry the load.

Either I get Gurley at 27 or i'm not drafting a RB until Day 3.

I truly believe with our line no matter who we have back there we will have a good running game.

I'd pay to have a special running back behind this line...because....lawd...that could be incredible. But otherwise i'm spending resources on the defense. Just how I feel.

Now of course i'd rather just spend cap space and have Peterson....but sometimes you can't have your cake and eat it too.

If you believe anyone can run behind this line then why draft a RB at all?

I dont want a RB that can just carry the load. I want a superstar RB that will lead the league in rushing on a regular basis.

I'd trade up if I thought he was the next AD.

We traded up for Bryant. I'm just saying...It's crapshoot either way.

We swapped a fourth round pick for a fifth rounder when we traded up for Bryant. That is a far cry from trading a second.

I wouldn't be upset if they traded a fourth or fifth to secure Gordon or Gurley. Anything more though would be frustrating, and a second would be maddening.

I understand your view but I think it's kinda radical for several reasons...

The first being there's very little correlation between having the leagues leading rusher and winning the Superbowl.

A team can have a respected running game without a guy having to accumulate 300+ carries a season.

Then you have the whole "wear & tear" thing going on. After a couple league leading seasons of running the football your bell-cow back is probably going out to pasture because of overuse.

Which then leads to having to spend a prime draft pick every 3-4 seasons on another back. I don't think that's a good way to build a roster.

I'd much rather have a back who carries the ball 15-18 carries a game and consistently gets 1,000 to 1,200 yards a season... AND can do that for 5-6 seasons.
