I wouldn't trade him. We have a young, talented, dangerous WR corps and he is a big part of it.

But don't you think that the receiver options could be over saturated?

Austin, Witten, Bryant, Williams, Phillips, Bennet, Ogletree... then Choice and Jones are pass options as well. Do we really need ALL of them?

I think Witten and Bryant are the only players out of that bunch that you do not consider for trade. Any one else, including Austin, could be traded to aquire talent in a position that needs help.

I think the reason he is having a down year is that we aren't able to use him the same way we did last year.

Last year only 48% of his catches came between 1-10 yards, this year that number is 67%. Last year, 35% of his catches came from 11 yards and up, this year that number is 26%.

He is definitely our deep threat, and I think Romo made our o-line look better than they are, and since Garrett knows that, he doesn't send Austin that deep, and he ends up running shorter routes. Now, Austin still needs to catch these short passes that are going off his hands. I think with a couple of upgrades on the line and Romo back, we can see Austin's numbers go back up. Based on his first six games this year, he was on pace for 88 receptions and 1296 yards.

Whens the last time we traded a good player?
Not sure which season these occured but:
- Antonio Bryant (2003?)
- Anthony Fasano (2008?)

Considering Miles' contract and his connection with Tony, Dez would likely get traded before him. Any of them would be crazy to trade though.

That was my first thought in reading that post, as well.

Austin needs to work on his game more and stay out of the Kardashian type spotlight.

I agree that the only way we trade him is if someone just absolutley throws an insane offer at Jerruh.

Like just about everyone else Miles has had a down year; I do not think its because teams have learned to defend him; if that was the case by the end of last year that should have been happening and did not. He is just not playing that well and he is having trouble with drops.

Neither were incredibly important or good though.

Bryant had to be traded so it wasnt like we dumped him at his apex. He was a cancer and we got what we could. He then blew up in a contract year in TB(what are the odds?) and is probably out of the league forever now

The Fasano/Bennet triangle was weird. I guess Fasano turned out to be good.

Oh good grief.

You mean you don't want Miles, Tony, Witten and Dez traded from this team like some do? :laugh2:

You'll never be an NFL GM.

What would it take, if you were the GM of the Dallas Cowboys, to take Miles Austin off of your hands?
A Herschel Walker type trade ( which for those on here too young to remember was 3 first rounders and 2 second rounders and 4 active players.)
Otherwise NO !

Does there always have to be a discussion about trading a stud player whos been slumping for a few weeks? First Witten, Now Austin.

Romo's injury is making him drop ball after ball?

Hmmm. Romo is more important than anyone could have ever imagined.

Well with Kitna he doesn't really have a big time arm and we dont really throw down the field. The drops are probably just a loss of focus which isn't unexpected given this disaster of a season.

:hammer: Outstanding post. Some folks get it.

I dont care about his numbers, they wont be near what Dez's are. I just need him to be more reliable then he has been.

Instead of a big 3rd down grab its been the tip-interception that swings momentum

We finally get some receivers that can play and people want to discuss trading them? Say Jerry trades Austin .... the next topic will be why we shouldn't of traded him.

Bingo.

And it's not that Romo is better than Kitna or Kitna is better than Romo, it's the fact that Romo and Austin have great chemistry on the routes they run together. That's why Austin will be a star again next year. Kitna is a different type of QB and maybe his chemistry is not as precise as Romo's.

Ask Romo what he thinks about trading Austin.

You can close this thread cause it will never happen. Not this year. Not anytime soon.

He had better numbers than Bryant this year.
