Trevor Lawrence - Major Red Flag

Are we arguing that just because you play in the NFL, it should be the most important thing in your life?

You can be a good or great NFL player and care about your family, friends, faith, health, and many other things over the game, and still be passionate about the game.

Here is a clip of Tom Brady highlights when he was at Michigan. For the vast majority of the plays in the clip Brady was under center. His play action was beautiful. Just beautiful. In retrospect is no wonder he made the transition to the NFL so seamlessly.

Maybe Trevor Lawrence can learn to play like this. But maybe he can’t. Time will tell.

It doesn’t matter hardly at all anymore.

It used to be this way but guys like Watson, Mahomes, and others who played in gimmicky college offenses are transitioning to the pros easier than ever because the NFL is starting to run a lot of college concepts themselves.

When it is all said and done....I won't be shocked to see Zach Wilson have the better career.....and Lawrence ends up being Andrew Luck 2.0
Luck was a borderline great QB whose career was derailed by injuries and being in a crapp org. So, you're saying Lawrence will be great?

I have said it a few times I'm not as high on Lawrence as most. Didn't even think he was the best QB in the ACC last 2 seasons even with superior talent.

Just as a general draft conversation, pointing out Trevor Lawrence may have a flaw might be relevant but as someone that is super focused on just how the Cowboys do in this draft, I don't really give a damn about any possible red flag about her. She'll be long gone by the time the Cowboys are acknowledged in the draft. I'll concern myself about Trevor when we play her team sometime in the future. Until then, all I have to say about that chick is she sure does have a pretty mouth. :p

Trevor is a great football player and fiery competitor who belongs in the NFL. Yes he has chance to fail but he has all the tools to make it and he has won early at every level he has played. You put him on the Cowboys and fix the defense and Dallas is in the SB. Right now you fix the defense and Dak might win one playoff game.

You are pretty quick to put Trevor Lawrence in the Super Bowl, particularly since we don’t yet know if he can learn to play under center.

As quick as you were to bash him for no reason?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is certainly true to an extent.

But it’s also true that there is no substitute for being able to play well under center. It’s harder to do and takes time to master, but the results are worth it.

The overwhelming consensus is that Trevor Lawrence is a transcendent player who will be a star in the NFL and end up in the Hall of Fame. All the draft experts say he is a can’t-miss prospect, one of the best they have ever seen. I have serious doubts, particularly after his recent interview where people close to him said Trevor could walk away from football tomorrow and be fine. It sounds like he lacks the passion to be truly great. His attitude appears to be the opposite of Tom Brady, which is always a bad thing.

His fiancée has also been quoted as saying, “There is more to life than playing football.”

Lawrence has been blessed to be surrounded by excellent talent and coaching while at Clemson. Everything has been easier for him because of that. The NFL is completely different, however, and I have a feeling he is going to find that out.

I would imagine that the kid is tired of being treated like a prize bull instead of a person. I am sure that 99% of the conversations that he has had in the previous few months has been about football. He probably gets tired of it and would like to be treated like a normal person that has other interests. I would be more concerned if he didn’t have other interests outside of football.

Well, that is the safest bet you could make on any college player who has yet to take an NFL snap.

Even if they are one of the best prospects in a decade, they all are still just”prospects”
So few become all-time greats
He is ranked 4th on my board. Pitts is the number 1 player for me. The odds are against all players. They are all gladiators and can fall at any moment. Playing 17 games is insane. I have a feeling that Lawrence isn't going to be very successful. Just a gut feeling on my part. I favor Wilson and Jones as having a better chance. I think that Jones will end up on a better team which is a huge factor on qb success.

I think he is a winner, he has won and played in multiple national championship teams. he is talented so things come easy to him. he may not play 20 years. he may quit after his second contract. Luck was similar. talented. passionate, but then he just lost the drive

Trevor Lawrence has benefitted from the strong surrounding talent and coaching at Clemson. It’s going to be a very different situation at Jacksonville. Urban Meyer hasn’t yet proven he can succeed in the NFL.

It’s going to be a massive challenge. Trevor will need to be totally focused and dedicated to learning to play at the NFL level, particularly at the QB position. After reading the article and hearing what those around him say, I would be concerned that he won’t have the commitment needed to succeed.

He’s also coming off surgery on his non-throwing shoulder, which means he won’t be able to practice fully until training camp, limiting the time he will have to learn to play under center.

People think I'm crazy a while back I said Trevor Lawrence was compatible to Blaine Gabbert coming out. Lawrence has a lot of talent around him

of course, any team drafting 1st over all has deficit thus he will not have the support system, but he is the Key piece to that support system. if the team is capable of putting the right talent around him, he has shown he can maximize that talent and get the output.....that;s all good QBs do. put talent around them and they can produce offensive results
