Especially in the “Not For Long” (NFL). Their are people who played 14 years as a backups holding clipboards. It may be the best thing for him not getting exposed to much. Potential means contracts. He just has to keep improving behind the scenes until he gets his chance with what ever team.

Exactly . Sign with someone and compete and with QB’s going down you will get a chance. Be ready . Sunday I saw a guy with potential who can extend plays and frankly had no # 1 receiver to throw to and perhaps Tolbert a complimentary three was the best WR target on the field . The TE’s did nothing .

Lance took the early payout of going to the NFL while his name was still hot but IMO that did a lot of long term damage to his growth as a QB. Between C-19 and the transfer rules back then, he lost out on possibly going to a D-1 school to throw the ball more lol.

But I guess with Wentz showing success from NDSU, maybe he thought he could have the same jump?

Ben DiNucci from James Madison . Wentz NDSU like Lance . Zach Wilson BYU . Tony did well piled up a ton of stats came out of Eastern Illinois and for whatever reason playoff success non existent Daniel Jones Duke Dak round 4 Miss St ….somewhere there is a QB code for scouts and GM’s to break and seemingly if your not from a school with a track record of NFL QB talent pipeline it’s buyer beware time .

"Play off success".

The Cowboys' lack of it was certainly on Tony. He should never have dropped that pass at the endzone, or fumbled that run up the middle for a sure TD.

That fumbled snap for the go ahead FG against Seattle playoffs sent Bill P back to Florida and golf games ….

Like I said “ zero playoff success” as a team. Dak the 4th rounder out of that non football factory has Dallas on the same road to nowhere .

Lance still needs a few years to develop into a backup that can win. With how the cowboys choose to operate they can not afford a rush at backup so the big question is who wants to backup Dak for nearly free? Oh and know that Dak will miss 3+ games probably around the 6 game mark as he is getting older and more prone to hurting himself without being hit. I'd rather they look for a 7th round guy to develop and or udfa.

Lance is never going to be a quality QB in the NFL, NEVER! He saw dollar signs and took the money and ran almost out of the league. The dude should have have stayed in school and worked on his craft, he didn’t end of story!
Kid has serious talent, don't be a hater

Jaxson Dart around round three with the understanding by the next coach benching the QB ( Dak ) is a possibility if the offense has three points at half or INT’s are sailing around the stadium . It’s called accountability

In the next 64 days I doubt Trance is a priority to get signed. Of course, no team in the league will have any interest in him, so no urgency in even talking to him. Acquiring him was a mistake. A giant one by the 49ers. A small one by the Cowboys.

The 49ers have a starting safety to show for. the pick Jerry so wonderfully gave them
.

Lol....that far back? Something a starting qb shouldn't even be doing. Weak.

I didn't see you say "as a team". My apologies.

Purdy was the last pick in round 7.
Let's see what Purdy can do at 60M and less pieces around him. Maybe the 49ers don't know how to evaluate QB's, Sam Darnold had a great year 4400 yds/32 TD's

Everyone who just watched Trey Lance play can see the talent, unless you're a hater.

Amazing to watch the Lance fans. He just needs time! Not sure why people don't get that he hasn't been on the field because he hasn't been good enough.

What team is going to put him on the team and lose games just to try to develop a bust? I hope not this one.

250 yards against a 12 win team. That's not good enough to be a backup?
Not for the haters, they made their minds up. Trey Lance sucks because SF said so, or they feel it threatens Prescott. Ask them about Sam Darnold too.

Some of these same clowns also say to trade Micah Parsons.

Wrong if you put him out there the last 4 weeks you drive the price up on yourself.

You're not wrong, but I can't say I blame Lance for making that choice though....tough to turn down top end of the 1st round money before NIL was a thing.
