JJ not telling Dak about the trade is no big deal. It’s not Daks job to know. Maybe it gives him a nudge to see a first round player brought on but I doubt it worries him much. JJ not telling MM about the trade sounds more like a shot at MM and maybe more telling for his job since he is calling the plays. Lance has 8 games under his belt. If Dak don’t take us to the playoffs does JJ let him go and start Lance. How does that help the team.
Actually what makes the most sense how it all transpired is this....I mean everyone else speculates on how and why things happen...so here's mine.

SF calls Jerry, asks about compensation for a trade. But it needs to get done before another team...supposedly the Bills were trying to trade for Lance as well. Other teams possibly as well. We will eventually hear this.

What is Jerry supposed to do, he can get the #3 overall pick in the draft for a 4th or 5th round pick. Is he to tell SF...wait, wait...I need to talk Dak and MM about this first....SF then says, ok, then immediately calls Buffalo, or any other team interested back.
Jerry made the correct decision and says yes we will give you our 2024, 4th round pick.

And all our fans can do is whine about it as usual.

This is what you do, and I can't resist taking the opportunity to expose you, from time to time.

If I said it was Monday 8/28/23, you would say, "not in Japan, lol".

Of course technically you would be correct, but anyone reading would clearly see you as nitpicking and answering in a completely out of context manner which really has nothing to do with the point made.

When called on it you would then double down and point back to the original statement, which left the tiniest of loopholes for someone like you to exploit.

If called on that you would call me an Eagles fan and slink away.

Seen it a million times.
What in the hell?

What a silly analogy in you way to defend Mountaineer. Why defend him and make yourself look foolish? He wouldn't do it for you.

This is nothing like saying what the date is.

HE SAID JERRY NEVER TRADES FOR A BACKUP. There's nothing "technical" about it. It was a wrong statement.

Stand up for yourself like you're trying to do for Mountaineer.

Well, instead of using that 4th on some help for this year, they make a move like this? I think the most likely explanation is they have no clear idea what they are doing.

My take on the trade is this:

Jerry loves getting something for nothing or very little

He got Romo for nothing and Dak with a 4th

So he is hoping to get Dak's successor for only a 4th as well

Its like all those years when he was trying to rebuild the O line with low picks and UDFA's because that was pretty much how the Great Wall was built.

But finally SOMEONE convinced him to use first rd picks instead

Until we have another period with multiple lousy QBs I do not see Jerry using a first on one

They don’t care about Dak.

They care about improving the team. Dak's feelings should not be considered.

Jerry had to make a decision when the opportunity presented itself. He can't take the time to tell SF...hey I need to talk to Dak and Mike first.

Some of our fans need to understand that. Not directed at you, but to others.

Jerry don’t trade draft picks for back up QBs.

He could’ve signed a proven vet to do that or keep Grier.

This is a wake up call to Dak. That’s why he was blindsided by it. He thought he was safe. He thought he was untouchable. He become comfortable in the mediocrity.
This isn't true, remember Stephen McGee was a former 4th rd pick, same with Dak who was expected to be a backup QB when drafted. I believe Moore handpicked the Jets backup (now with Miami) in the 5th rd a few seasons ago.

the injury thing with Lance is an issue as well but I like that hes just 23. I think we need 2 give him several years to grow into an NFL QB.
My hope is just that. He isn’t NEEDED to play for a while. I think Daks resigned again soon. People will be upset and people will be happy. I don’t care as long as he can get it done. After we spanked the bucs last year I had high hopes. The playoff loss was a team loss just like bucs win was a team win. Daks second int was his mistake. I saw other players and staff make mistakes that game. Moore called the plays. The dump off pass Pollard was hurt on was open most all day. The way they were playing our receivers left it open. They really only needed to cover Lamb.

100%.. Jerry is a wheeler and dealer. See's someone giving up on a new Corvette that turned out to have a lemon engine. Hopes he can repair it. Nothing wrong with thinking that way, it just doesn't work out very often.

It’s as obvious as can be. This was a message to the unknowing Dak. There is no comfort for you anymore. We wouldn’t resign your BFF and now this. It’s put up or shut season.

This is an out of character move from Jerry. He does not trade draft picks for guys he has no interest in playing. It’s just not the way Jerry has ever done business.

It won’t happen fast and maybe not this year at all, but the purpose of this trade is to put pressure on Dak.

Daks contract is coming up and Jerry trades for a young, raw, 1st rounder QB and that’s supposed to be a coincidence and depth move?

Jerry could’ve signed a veteran like Wentz, Flacco, or waited until cuts, or kept Grier if he was looking for a depth move.

He didn’t even give a heads up to Dak that he was doing this knowing a splash like this will make big news and allowed Dak to be blindsided instead.

The writing is on the wall and it couldn’t be anymore clear.
Your post was looking good until I saw WENTZ's name in your post. Hell, we have our OWN WENTZ 2.0 in Prescot. Both of these QB's are over hyped, overpaid, less than mediocre QBs who have had their chances and should be sent packing...............

We've been down this road, "don't care" is a strong statement. It's not like Dak isn't well thought of, the guy won the Walter Payton man of the year last year. Jerry just doesn't like that Dak hasn't provided a SB and he bent them over for his last contract. I can see that but he's also not dumb enough to let a top 10 QB walk without a proper replacement.

He don’t need to run anything past the players before he hires someone. I do think it was a little shot at MM. He ahoukd have been in the loop. But I am sure he approves the move. 1st round 3rd overall pick for a 4th round pick. For a really young QB that’s played 8 games in 2 years. Not sure if the kid is injury prone or a fluke but worth looking at.

To be clear. I am not trying to defend MC. I am attacking you. lol

The fact that you are incapable of understanding the nuance here is not surprising. That is a common trait of someone who's ego far exceeds their intelligence.

Will you at least admit the two situations you are comparing have a very significant difference?

At minimum, this puts off any extension during the season off the table IMO and that's the most we can ask for. It allows Dak one last season for his fanboys to make up some more excuses.

LOl when the extension happens its going to be good times lol. Not because I care all that much but because it will eat at OP.
Lmao!!!

I should PM him like he bet me recently (if Dak does/doesn't take this team to a conference championship game: self permanent ban is at stake) and see if he's willing to bet on if Dak will receive a contract extension or not with the Cowboys. Since he's so confident in his dismissal of Dak, it would be nice if he's willing to put membership on the line.

He did the right move to take the trade. But I do wonder what’s up with you spending a high 1st round pick on a young QB then play him for a couple of games his rookie season. Then 6 his next year and he is injured. Then you suddenly just let him go for a 4th rounder. And go with purdy as your qb. I know they beat us with him but I think their running game and defense did more to win the game than purdy. We gave him way too much respect in that game. Should have treated him like we treated commanders qb when we played them.
