Do you all remember when Steve Walsh was drafted in the supplemental draft during Aikman’s rookie season? It pissed Aikman off royally. The Cowboys were horrible and I think it lit a fuse under Troy.
Troy and Dak are not built the same.

You sound sad.

Like you have to try and make me feel bad to make yourself feel better.

Hurt people hurt people, I suppose.
If you ever catch me on a sports forum posting 30 times a day about how much I hate the team, it's then you will know that I'm sad.

Its not though. IF you want to pressure Dak you go trade for Matt Stafford or someone of that caliber. I guess maybe you can argue this is to put pressure on Cooper Rush? But even that's a stretch. There is zero chance Trey Lance is starting next year. I don't know if you guys don't realize how bad things are for him right now or what but the 49ers just chose Sam Darnold and Brock Purdy over a guy they just traded multiple 1st rounders for. Brandon Allen was in front of him on the depth chart.

This move has nothing to do with this year or next year. Its not a "leverage" move lol.
Ok so what kind of move was it?? Was it worth a 4th round pick? Was this the time to do this?
Or was it just a stupid move by jerry, that wont show any fruit till 2-3 years from now?

In your own words SF wanted to get rid of him so bad they gave up this costly player (3 1sts) for a 4th, and would have taken a 5th if they hadnt been
smart enough to call jerry lol. This speaks poorly of trey, SF totally gave up on him, after years of getting nothing out of him.
Lynch apologized and took the blame for drafting him. The guy was a total bust, but it is possible he could develop, but I dont think
cowboys are the team to do that, and it would be at least 3 years from now so why lose a 4th and a roster spot for a guy who wont play for years??
Makes no sense at all.

See this is why Eagles fans need to talk Eagles football and stay out of Cowboys business.

The Cowboys acquired Cassel from Buffalo on Tuesday, sending a fifth-round pick in 2017 to the Bills and getting their seventh-round pick that year.

FAIL.......
Or football talk in general. They always read the same. Like a 14 year old nerd who has never seen grass, let alone thrown a football.

You really should come up with an example that does not require an immediate need, like yours does.

Can you come up with an example of Jerry trading for a backup QB that he doesn't immediately need?
Why the hell would I do that? He made the statement Jerry never trades for a backup QB. I brought up Cassell. What's difficult to understand? His statement was wrong.
I get this is your boy but he's wrong.

Cassell was traded for to start because Romo was injured.

You just posted the quote and left that part out.

Why you doing that for?

I think this was just a dart throw, that if it works out, makes the Joneses relevant. Thats how they think. It also protects them in case we lose Dak in 2 years to free agency. It was a win win. He isnt here to threaten Dak right now at least.

The nfl is business, Dak next year will cost 55 Million at the top, and is in a limit that he can or can not sign a labor extension, what this season will be decisive to see if it is given or not that contract extension, all depending on what Dak does, bringing Lance is something logical, is to risk to see if Lance with a second wind, can resurface and still has a chance because he is still young, if this is given will be a Boom, Lance has given to the cowboys right now a projection and a spectacion that Dak has not given to the cowboys, Dak is only the starting QB but they don't talk about him, they talk about rookies and players that are being spectacion, but Dak is only Dak, he is not the player that people are talking about, he is not the player that people are waiting to see, no, first there is Micah, Diggs, Mazi, Deuce, Lamb, Pollard, Cooks, Gilmore, and some more before Dak, there is more expectation to see what Lance is going to do than what Dak is going to be, it is the reality no matter who it hurts.

Its a kick the tires move. I'm on record saying I wouldn't have traded a 4th for him but the guy was just the 3rd overall pick I believe 2 or 3 years ago. I feel like any time you can get a prospect like that you go for it especailly for a mid rounder.

THe issue with Lance is he just hasn't played much football. And that won't change here. Then i'm reading about injuries he's had? Its not a move that needed to happen now but you also don't get the chance to trade 4th rounders for quarterbacks with his upside. Its a weird move but its a necessary move. I'm a Dak fan but I still try and get a young guy in here. I would've drafted someone so getting Lance is not bad and it doesn't reflect on Dak. Not now anyway.

It probably serves as two-fold if they have finally wised up….a certain amount of leverage against Daks agents money demands, which I’ve been begging them to do forever…..and maybe an RPO package that will give opponents something else to prepare for at a minimum….maybe some surprising results otherwise.

Anyone arguing with risk/reward here isn’t really getting it.

I see this as big change from Jerry’s absolute loyalty to certain players. That’s not at all a bad thing.
Well they got owned on Dak's last contract so they need some leverage but I don't think this move helps them.

Really no way he can threaten him. Unless he passes Rush and Dak through injury. He may see a the field if we are blowing a team out. I think it’s a good move for future. Rush will be traded or gone after this season.

Not sure what you are insinuating here lol. People want to see MAzi before Dak?

Well I hope trying to make me feel bad makes you feel better.
You're right. Sorry.

I'm just saying can't you find anything positive to post ever? You are obviously here enough and honestly I really don't know if you root for the Cowboys to win or not, I'm not being facetious when I say that, I truly don't know. You very well could, but I just haven't seen much happiness out of you ever on this forum about the Cowboys. You seem to constantly turn a positive thread about something Cowboy related into a negative with one of the very first comments in the thread, so I think my complaint is warranted when I say it would be nice to be able to talk about the Cowboys in some threads instead of bash Dak. I have a feeling if you put your efforts into being a positive poster instead of the negative poster you'd have just as many likes.

Doing what for? You never said anything about Romo or being hurt or none of that.

Jerry don’t trade draft picks for backup QBs.

He could’ve signed a proven vet to do that or keep Grier.

This is a wake up call to Dak. That’s why he was blindsided by it. He thought he was safe. He thought he was untouchable. He become comfortable in the mediocrity.

You were wrong let it go.

It's a chess move (and not really that good of one) to get Dak to sign a team friendly deal..The cap hit next year is really unsustainable not to restructure or redo his deal. If Dak has a pro bowl level season, it is going to either cost the Joneses more or they'll have to let him play out his contract. If they cut him, the dead money would probably be insane.

Don't get sucked in. This is what he does lol. His intentions is to rile up members on this site. Just like the rest of the Eagles fans on this site.

exactly. I read Daks cap number will be 55 mil in 2024. Either we get an extension done with him to lower that or he wont be here next year. I think Dallas threw this dart to protect themselves. Low risk, high reward.
