You're right. Sorry.

I'm just saying can't you find anything positive to post ever? You are obviously here enough and honestly I really don't know if you root for the Cowboys to win or not, I'm not being facetious when I say that, I truly don't know. You very well could, but I just haven't seen much happiness out of you ever on this forum about the Cowboys. You seem to constantly turn a positive thread about something Cowboy related into a negative with one of the very first comments in the thread, so I think my complaint is warranted when I say it would be nice to be able to talk about the Cowboys in some threads instead of bash Dak. I have a feeling if you put your efforts into being a positive poster instead of the negative poster you'd have just as many likes.
You can’t reason with trolls.

Jerry has never had the foresight to trade for a guy just to flip him later for something better.

Jerry is 80 years old. He’s not changing his ways.
This isn’t Jerry’s team anymore man. Have you not payed attention since Mike got here? Every year this team is built more and more in Mike’s image.

We just drafted a NT in round 1, something “Jerry” never does.

McCarthy likes to develop QB’s. He’s said that from day one. They openly stated they wanted to draft a QB in the mid-rounds this year to develop, but the draft fell in a way that they weren’t able to.

So the 4th for Lance isn’t for some imaginary starting gig plan. It’s a make-up for the mid-round QB’s they missed. Mike likes to develop guys and potentially flip them for picks like Matt Flynn. It’s a part of Mike’s coaching philosophy and the longer he’s here the longer you’ll see it.

The sooner you stop acting like this team is ran like the Jerry-heyday mid-2000’s and realize Jerry is just a figurehead at this point the clearer these things will be.

That is unless you’re just praying on Dak’s downfall and want to ignore all logic. I mean it’s pretty obvious he’ll be extended soon so that’ll be clear as day.

Didn't read the OP but just wanted to say. This girl or guy averages 30 posts a day about how much she hates the Cowboys every day since February of 2021.
(23,000 posts 2.5 years) Please...can't we get some of these people out of here so that 30 threads every day don't get sabotaged. Let's make this place about the Cowboys for once.

Lmao the QB that they all scouted together and rated highly?

“McCarthy approved of the decision to acquire Lance, per Jones, saying that McCarthy "liked him" as a quarterback coming out.”

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...th-dak-prescott-told-mike-mccarthy-after/amp/

They knew Mike likes Trey from the draft lol. They knew they wanted to take a guy this year to develop. Trades can happen within 2 mins man, have you no idea how this works? You don’t think they know Mike’s evaluation of Lance? You think head coaches worry about mid-round draft compensation?

They knew they liked him as a player and they pulled the trigger (most likely Stephan). Just cause Mike wasn’t making the call doesn’t mean this isn’t his M.O.

They harped all off-season on getting a mid-round guy to develop, and the FO saw the chance and delivered for Mike. Now he can do his thing.

Plus as another poster said, timeline wise it wouldn’t even make sense that they brought him in to start. You wouldn’t know until 2024 if he can play anyways. By then Dak will be extended or owes 60M on a cap hit which won’t ever ever happen. It’s just simple logic.

It's a chess move (and not really that good of one) to get Dak to sign a team friendly deal..The cap hit next year is really unsustainable not to restructure or redo his deal. If Dak has a pro bowl level season, it is going to either cost the Joneses more or they'll have to let him play out his contract. If they cut him, the dead money would probably be insane.
I think its a great chess move. Whats the risk? Versus the reward?

Why the hell would I do that? He made the statement Jerry never trades for a backup QB. I brought up Cassell. What's difficult to understand? His statement was wrong.
I get this is your boy but he's wrong.
This is what you do, and I can't resist taking the opportunity to expose you, from time to time.

If I said it was Monday 8/28/23, you would say, "not in Japan, lol".

Of course technically you would be correct, but anyone reading would clearly see you as nitpicking and answering in a completely out of context manner which really has nothing to do with the point made.

When called on it you would then double down and point back to the original statement, which left the tiniest of loopholes for someone like you to exploit.

If called on that you would call me an Eagles fan and slink away.

Seen it a million times.

exactly. I read Daks cap number will be 55 mil in 2024. Either we get an extension done with him to lower that or he wont be here next year. I think Dallas threw this dart to protect themselves. Low risk, high reward.
Could be very high reward. If they bring him up right. Dak could be thrown to the wolves in 2016 because we had a O-Line that was tops. And a young hard running Elliot. The Offense was set up to protect an aging often injured Romo. A young mobile QB comes in and through injury is thrown in. No problem. I will give Dak props though he did better than anyone expected. I would have signed him before wentz got his contract back then.

Now I don’t think we have the O-Line to give Lance time to do the things Dak did. And that cap number next year will be average pay for the QB position in a few years maybe. But with Parsons contract and Lambs coming we will NEED to extend or redo Daks deal. I see this team having a very good year. With this starting Defense and more passing options for Dak we should thrive. But the ole injury bug can change things. Especially on our O-Line. Our starters should do great but depth maybe a problem. I see is watching the cuts closely for O-Linemen. Guards for sure.

It’s as obvious as can be. This was a message to the unknowing Dak. There is no comfort for you anymore. We wouldn’t resign your BFF and now this. It’s put up or shut season.

This is an out of character move from Jerry. He does not trade draft picks for guys he has no interest in playing. It’s just not the way Jerry has ever done business.

It won’t happen fast and maybe not this year at all, but the purpose of this trade is to put pressure on Dak.

Daks contract is coming up and Jerry trades for a young, raw, 1st rounder QB and that’s supposed to be a coincidence and depth move?

Jerry could’ve signed a veteran like Wentz, Flacco, or waited until cuts, or kept Grier if he was looking for a depth move.

He didn’t even give a heads up to Dak that he was doing this knowing a splash like this will make big news and allowed Dak to be blindsided instead.

The writing is on the wall and it couldn’t be anymore clear.
Everybody is brought in to win their position

the injury thing with Lance is an issue as well but I like that hes just 23. I think we need 2 give him several years to grow into an NFL QB.

Well as far as the trade, its not bad at all. Cheap. But trying to get Dak to cave to any of their wishes/demands contract wise. Does nothing for it in the short term.
yeah true, but if he wants 2 be here, he will be.
