If you're actually going to move on from Dak, the best thing to do is to sit down with Todd France and determine if there are any teams in the league willing to meet his contract demands, then have Dak waive his no-trade clause to facilitate a trade to that team for literally whatever you can get. Then, either trade up in this year's draft or get ready to draft high in 2025. Dallas moves on, Dak gets paid sooner rather than later. Win win.

The only other option is a June 1 release, which helps you with the cap in '24 when you don't have a QB to compete, and hurts you in 2025 when you theoretically might have one. Trey Lance is not a serious option for a serious football team, period.

This is true! The best we can hope for is a discount so we can grab pieces in FA, but I doubt that happens he says he wants to win but kills that cap space like he’s broke! How bout play for another team and see if you get all them endorsements.

Dak isn’t going to give us a discount and Jerry will over pay. The best thing this franchise can do is make him a post June cut and roll with Lance and another cheap veteran. That will get us out from the albatross of the Dak contract.

We won’t do what’s best for the franchise because it’s uncharted territory for Jerry. Jerry will over pay and we have about 3-5 more seasons of this. Jerry likes his comfort zone. He’d rather be comfortable than champions.

How do you know Lance couldn’t become Jordan Love with the right coaching. Early in the season Love was considered horrible.

Very good point. I don’t know how anyone can say Lance is good or bad if we haven’t seen him play for our team. I’m pretty confident he could have thrown 2 interceptions, one for a TD and have 2 more passes hit the defenders hand and dropped. So if Dak demands 55-60 million after that then how much of a drop off is there with Lance.

Lance can throw an interception, a pick 6, stall the offense and only generate 7 points in a half. And he can do it on a rookie contract. My point is we have no idea what Lance can do but after seeing Dak yesterday, I can’t imagine it getting worse. It can only get better.

I don't know why I'm still even responding to this goofy nonsense, but here we go:

Jordan Love actually got better each year. You can see it on film every single season since 2020. Trey Lance has looked exactly the same each year for the last three years. You can see it on film every single season since 2021.

The truth is, we do have an idea what Lance can do, and the only way you can pretend otherwise is by ignoring the last three year's of film and the fact that even Kyle Shanahan gave up on him. This really isn't hard.

That is the thing about Lance. He is a raw talent. He could be Love next season or Atlanta’s quarterback. Reading this board maybe the fan base needs to find out.

Stop that thinking and you have a chance. Staying competitive with the wrong pieces in place get you what we've had for 28 years.

Dak is not the answer. Lance probably isn't the answer either. But he's a hell of a lot cheaper than Dak.

Rolling with Lance next year is a win win. He either shows promise, but we still struggle and get a top 5 pick. He out right sucks and we get the first pick.

If he shows some promise, we resign him to a team friendly deal and build up a team around him. If he's a bust, we draft the best QB available.

I'm fine with rebuilds. I'm fine with loosing if it means being competitive in the playoffs.

I'm done with what we have now.

I think Trey Lance can become a quality NFL started. I reviewed his 4 NFL starts. ...More talent than Jalen Hurts both as a runner and passer...

The difference is that the Eagles offense was designed specifically for Hurts while the 49ers require the QB to adapt to their system.

That was in college. He never sniffed a 100 yard game after Dak was lost in 2020 against the Giants and he never had a 100 yard game with Cooper Rush.
