GREEN BAY, Wis. – Five of the eight quarterbacks remaining in the NFL playoff field have won a Super Bowl.

But if Troy Aikman needed a QB to make one play in this postseason, he said Saturday, it wouldn't be Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Joe Flacco or Russell Wilson.

"I'll tell you, right now, from what I've seen this year – just talking about this year – I'd probably take (Tony) Romo," Aikman told USA TODAY Sports after a long pause, sitting in the lobby of his hotel. "I've seen him make too many plays when he's had to make them this year and he's made them."

He will be on an island on this one in the media, but go Troy!!!

You know, in a way its a backhanded compliment in that he focuses on what he's seen "this year."

Many in the media, including Troy, want to think that there is something different about Romo this season. Those of us who follow closely, know better--what's different is the supporting cast, not Romo.

But if something changed about Tony this season, then they weren't wrong about him in the past; in the past he was a choker, couldn't win the big game, or made the critical mistake at the critical moment. But this season is different.

That narrative is BS and Troy knows it.

Wow. Considering some of the QBs still in the playoffs it's a bit of a surprise to hear anyone say that.

Romo has never gotten his due, but you've got some pretty playoff savvy QBs on the list.

Im not shocked. I think Troy tries to keep it profession and unbiased during games. But I bet he's always rooting for the Cowboys.

I'll admit I hate on Aikman way to much. He calls pretty even and fair for the most part.

I hate him during the game though.
